Yandex.Music: VKontakte asked us to disconnect from the social network API. Copying audio recordings - transferring audio to an account or community in VKontakte Music uploader to server

This is not a new application, but a long-established application. It allows you to transfer (copy) music from audio albums or VKontakte recordings to your own audio recordings or community audio recordings. However, the application has both pros and cons.

The advantages of the application are that when you transfer music from an album, exactly the same album will be created for you or in your community, with all tracks added in order from old to new, which results in an exact copy of the album upon completion of copying.

But there is also a minus. It is not connected directly to the application, but rather to the VKontakte API. The fact is that when mass transferring audio recordings, you will have to manually enter texts from pictures (captcha), which can be annoying.

However, the very fact that thanks to the application there is no need to use third-party programs and sites makes this application a relevant and useful tool for both ordinary music lovers and music community owners.

To copy music, you need to indicate in the application itself exactly where to copy from (album or recording) and where to copy (your audio or audio communities), and then indicate a link to the album/record of interest.

It is also worth noting that copying audio recordings to a community is only available to those communities in which you are an administrator.

When copying is complete, you will be prompted to copy another album or recording, or move to the audio album you just copied.

It was possible to turn it into a playlist of similar content inside Yandex.Music. Transfer collection. According to Yandex data, Yandex.Music users used import from VKontakte 548 thousand times. Synchronization of VKontakte playlists with Yandex.Music is disabled.

Yandex explained the reason:

VKontakte asked to stop using the API.

An order of magnitude smaller audience, only 100 people by February 5, 2015, managed to install the Yandex.Music VK application. The application, new at that time, gave recommendations and allowed you to search in the Yandex.Music database. It did not have a direct function for playing music. This statistically invisible application is also disabled.

Yandex repeated:

[disabling the application] Related to the urgent request of VKontakte.

Yes, they turned it off. For my own reasons,

— said VK press secretary Georgy Lobushkin. The shutdown happened about 2 months ago. Around the same time, in February 2015, from our own iOS application. It was about listening to recordings from VK servers.

Correction of VKontakte software for the Apple platform traditionally occurs on February 11. So in February of last year, 2014, the AppStore for the first time, and on February 11, 2015, the music built into the VK application disappeared. At the same time, as it has now turned out, the API connection between Yandex and VK has disappeared.

10 days later, on February 21, 2015, Yandex.Music launched page on Facebook. Yandex has been collecting user Facebook “likes” since September 2014. “Likes” help streaming build individual recommendations, but Yandex has not made any applications for the end listener on the Facebook platform. Yandex did not conduct Facebook marketing activity for many years and only started it in 2015.

Music news and links to Yandex recordings were published (and continue to be published as links) on the main Russian social network VKontakte. Fresh catalog updates, fresh technical functions were naturally perceived in the context of VK. The entire Russian audience of Facebook is comparable to the audience of only Yandex.Music itself (10 million per month in total, 1 million listeners on mobile), and the audience of VKontakte is many times larger than both the audience of the music service and the reach of Facebook.

One of the urban legends about VK says that the previous head of VKontakte, Pavel Durov, negotiated with music streaming companies from a dominant position. If in the West Spotify streaming agreed to connect, first of all, to Facebook, in Russia you need to talk with VKontakte.

When Daniel Ek from the Spotify music service, which legally played songs and charged users a subscription fee, came to Durov to negotiate cooperation, he was turned away. “We have many times more songs than you, it’s not profitable for us,” Durov snapped. Ek realized that there was nothing to cover, said goodbye and stepped into the gilded elevator.

An anecdote about what Daniel Ek understood was published in Nikolai Kononov’s book “The Durov Code” at the end of 2012.

In 2010-2012, Spotify had 10-15 million tracks in its database. In May 2009 - 3.5 million. On October 7, 2008, at the start of the project, the founders simply said “millions.” It is unknown when exactly Ek rode the elevator. Theoretically, a difference of “times” could once exist, although in the past even the VC was less than today.

The number of recordings on streaming has been growing for many years in a row. Today, each player boasts approximately 20 million entries. Global players write numbers and more, but do not explain that music licenses are tied to each specific country. In individual recording countries, users probably have about 20 million tracks available for streaming.

Official data on the number of tracks in VK is not published. A direct comparison of VK and streaming is impossible. However, it is not possible to indirectly compare VC and other sources of labor. About 34-35 million tracks are sold on the market for downloaded mp3 files. If we assume that they all ended up on VKontakte (and this is not the case, there is not a lot of music on VK) - today VKontakte no longer has a superiority over streaming “at times”. Maximum one and a half times.

In other words, the streaming bases and VKontakte are comparable, which means that if the tools are available, an easy migration of users from one music service to an alternative is possible.

P.S. Reducing music functionality and disabling APIs for third parties is a trend in 2015 for two companies at once, one way or another connected with Yuri Milner and Alisher Usmanov. A couple of entrepreneurs, through the DST family of funds, are investors in the aforementioned Spotify. The holding company for VKontakte, Mail.ru Group, was founded with the participation of the same Milner-Usmanov.

In February, VKontakte disabled the Yandex.Music API and music in mobile clients. The day before yesterday social network

A program that, together with the included plugin for the Google Chrome browser, provides the ability to quickly and easily download your music from the VKontakte social network in just a few clicks. This process was called synchronization.

Sync and download

Thanks to the special VKSync program, you can download all your music in a couple of clicks, rather than downloading it one by one. This process is called Synchronization. To implement it, just click on the special icon with a down arrow opposite the My audio recordings item in the main menu of the VKontakte social network. Once the download is complete, synchronization will become unavailable until you make any changes to your VKontakte playlist.

All music downloaded to the computer through synchronization is placed in the folder My music\VKSync\Audio recordings "First Name Last Name"\#NO_VK_ALBUM#. If desired, you can change the folder to any other in the settings.

The program, moreover, can track deleted audio recordings and move them to a separate folder on your computer. As soon as you deleted a track on VK and then synchronized the audio recordings using VKSync, the deleted audio recording will be placed in the folder My music\VKSync\_Deleted_Audio recordings, from which you can manually remove it if you wish.

Download settings

In the program settings, you can configure a template that will be used to rename downloaded music. You will be able to use both data about audio recordings from VKontakte and data from their ID3 tags.

The loading speed of audio recordings can also be adjusted. You have a choice of normal and maximum speed, as well as a background mode for slow loading without interfering with your work on the computer.

You can create separate M3U or M3U8 playlists for each album or for all audio recordings. The format is selected in the settings.

When downloading music, the program can automatically insert information about the artist, title or album taken from the social networking site VKontakte into the ID3 tags of each composition.

As mentioned just above, the program is capable of moving audio recordings deleted from VKontakte to a special folder on the computer. So, in addition to moving it to a special folder, the program can delete a local file on its own.

Music uploader to server

The program also includes a music downloader for your VKontakte account. To do this, there is an up arrow opposite the My audio recordings item in the main menu.

The downloader allows you to select a list of files to download, and then downloads them one by one to your VKontakte social network account. Eliminates the need to download music manually.

Flaws

Unfortunately, the VKSync program only works in conjunction with the pre-installed VKSync plugin. And here a problem arises: the VKSync plugin is available only for the Google Chrome browser and some similar ones, for example, for Yandex Browser. Unfortunately, this plugin is not available for Firefox, IE or older versions of Opera.

It's no secret that the social network VKontakte is one of the most popular media resources and, Lifehacker, an ideal music cloud. A huge number of users listen to music every day and share it with friends; There are an incredible number of musical communities there. Indeed, it’s convenient to store your entire music library in the cloud and have access to it wherever there is an Internet connection. VK Audio Sync is the very tool that will help you transfer this library to your mobile device and keep it up to date.

The program is extremely easy to use and completely solves the issue of convenient synchronization of VKontakte music with Android devices: it allows you to upload your own music, music from walls and bookmarks, music from friends and communities, popular and recommended tracks; there is a search.

The user is offered several useful modes of use.

In this form, the user is presented with his music library and music from the wall. Quite a nice interface, nothing superfluous. In order to download songs to your device, you need to mark them and select “Synchronize” in the menu. By swiping to the right on each track, you can open a panel with additional operations (play, delete, or find out the size, bitrate and lyrics of the song). Songs that are already on the device are already marked with the corresponding icon. It is possible to mark all tracks missing from memory. And, of course, there is album synchronization; they are saved to the device in M3U format.

The most interesting modes are fast and automatic synchronization. The program is able to reduce user participation to zero, saving valuable time. Fast synchronization is the downloading of all songs that are not yet on the device in one click.

Can it be even simpler? Can! Automatic synchronization: after a certain time interval, the program itself checks your audio library for new songs and downloads them. Tracks that you do not want to download under any circumstances can be added to a kind of blacklist - ignored compositions.

In the VK Audio Sync settings, you can flexibly configure the synchronization operation, assign the necessary directories for downloading, manage active downloads, select the start screen, and more.

If you want to get the perfect tool for synchronizing VKontakte music with Android devices, then you should look towards VK Audio Sync. This application has a nice appearance, wide functionality and has no worthy analogues on Google Play.

Now I know that when I go for a run or get into the car and my phone connects to the radio via Bluetooth, the current music from my VKontakte account will play.
