All games in the mafia series. Game Mafia (Game Series). Grand Theft Auto series

The gangster theme is one of the most interesting topics for movies and games. The Mafia game series is the standard of this genre! You can download the Mafia anthology here! I think many of you have come across this topic: some watched movies, and some played games. Although there are a small number of games in this genre, fortunately there are developers Illusion Softworks. The wizards from this game studio not only laid the foundation for a new game series, but created the perfect game with a gangster theme. Game Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven has conquered the gaming space.

Founding of Illusion Softworks studio. The game Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven is coming out

In 1997, Piotr Vochozka founded the Illusion Softworks studio. The studio's first developments remained in oblivion. But the Czech studio was not going to stop! On October 22, 2001, GTA 3 was released and became the best game of the year. The game had a large, well-developed open world, with freedom of action and movement, a variety of missions, and a variety of weapons. Repeat similar success it was unusually difficult for other studios. But the Czech studio Illusion Softworks did it. The first Mafia was released on August 28, 2002.

The game turns out to be not just a bomb, it becomes a revelation for many. A small and unknown studio at that time created a mafia-themed idol. Many gamers of that time replayed the game several times, so as not to miss important details of the plot and once again join in with this whole mafia theme.

Features of the game Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven

Unlike GTA, the open world in Mafia was given a second role. Main actor The game became the plot. He's just great. And if in GTA you just wanted to go on a rampage in a large open world, forgetting about the storyline, then in Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven it was the other way around. It was the plot that made me forget about everything.

Anger, fear, love, laughter - these are just some of the feelings that the player received during the story campaign.

The game's story campaign is presented to the player in the form of chapters, prologue and epilogue. The beginning of each chapter is accompanied by a beautiful cut-scene. Video inserts are imbued with the spirit of famous films about mafiosi. You have to join the Salieri mafia family and experience many heart-piercing events! The game is full of shootings, racing, incredible plot twists and shocking moments.

The game will immerse you in the era of America in the 30s, you will feel the spirit of that time, ride in retro cars and feel like a real member of a mafia family. And the game’s music is so cool that the soundtrack will play in your head for weeks after finishing it.

Meet Mafia 2 - the continuation of the famous series

If the first part evoked only positive emotions among critics and gamers, then Mafia 2 was not so monotonous in its reviews. After the resounding success of Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, gamers have no idea that there will be a continuation of this series, which can be downloaded as a torrent on the website. After all, in addition to positive ratings game critics, the game was supported by buyers with their rubles. But for the publisher this is one of key points release of the sequel.

Even before the release of Mafia 2, Illusion Softworks studio was bought by major publisher 2K Games. This created a lot of conflicts within the development team. And two of the fundamental members of the team left the studio. Among them was the screenwriter of the first part. The studio founder also left the campaign.

The game changed many engines during the development process, since the process took quite a long time, and it is impossible to release a game with outdated graphics and physics. And finally, on August 24, 2010, 8 years after the release of the first Mafia, Mafia II was released. The game took an honorable first place in the top sales, and players quickly ran to study the story campaign, which promised to be very interesting.

Events unfold around Vito Scalleti, a simple guy who wants better life. An interesting plot also awaits you, but players did not like the terrible ending, which leaves a lot of unsaid things.

The gameplay is generally similar to the original. The game remains in third-person view. Car trips also remained in place. It seems like there is an open game world, but still the big connection to the plot killed the freedom of movement. All because of the special sequence of chapters.

In order to gain freedom of movement, you must complete the story mission. After this, we have access to exploring the city, but the city after each task was tied to the surroundings of this task. That is, if it was snowing in the task, then the city was snowy. This killed freedom of choice. The surrounding game world did not live its own life, the weather and time of day did not change themselves.

The city was larger than in the first part, the number of cars increased by an order of magnitude, all models were carefully designed. The physics of car control itself has been simplified compared to the first part. That realism no longer existed. The police did not begin to find fault with violations on the road so much. In Mafia 2 you can drive through the city streets without any problems, which was impossible to do in the first without consequences.

But if you completely start chaos, then the police will turn on you and you won’t be able to move around the city calmly.

Shootings in the game have become simpler. Now you don't have to be afraid large quantity opponents, because you can shoot them with one shot to the head. The variety of weapons made it possible to select suitable guns for each mission, from which you could kill enemies in batches.

In general, the gameplay continued to follow the line begun in the first Mafia. Somewhere the mechanics were derived from new level, but somewhere it was simplified. But the overall impression of Mafia 2 remained positive.

The long-awaited Mafia 3

Players have mixed impressions of Mafia 3. Open world unique in the game. As part of the story missions, you will need to anger the bosses in the territory of their influence. The city is divided into these territories. You have to damage infrastructure, eliminate people and engage in mayhem in the boss's area.

The advantage is freedom of action. You can do everything in stealth style, or you can arrange a massive pogrom in the style of some big-budget blockbuster. Download the Mafia anthology to your computer and experience the peculiarities of gangster life for yourself. It’s up to you to decide how to press or blow someone up! And this makes me very happy. Non-linearity in completing missions is a big plus for the game.

Mafia 3 is a decent game, but it lags behind the fifth GTA, both in the quality of the game world and in the game mechanics. Physics is very arcade. Cars explode at the slightest collision - this is a big step back according to player critics.

Overall, Mafia 3 isn't perfect. And it probably couldn’t be. Still, the project’s history is too complicated.

Introduction

Mafia is a series of games consisting of two parts, belonging to the Action genre with elements of a car simulator. The release date of the first part, Mafia The Lost Heaven - August 28, 2002, the second, Mafia 2 - August 27, 2010. The development was carried out by the Czech studio Illusion Softworks, which is also known for its excellent action films Vietcong. The Mafia and Mafia 2 games are quite unique in their kind - only the great Grand Theft Auto series is a worthy competitor to the Mafia series. Each of these series has its trump cards over each other. But in any case, both are undeniably masterpieces. Here, in this review, we will briefly describe the features of the Mafia series.

General features of Mafia games

The first thing worth noting is that, unlike the same GTA, the Mafia games describe events taking place in the first half - mid-twentieth century. With all the ensuing consequences - ancient cars, now obsolete weapons, it is also worth noting the superbly conveyed atmosphere, which from the first minutes of the game immediately immerses you in the game world headlong - this is not only the style of architecture, music, but also much more.

Now about everything in detail. All the events of the games in the series take place in cities fictitious by the developers, decorated in the spirit of that time. Both parts boast an almost cinematic plot, which only fuels the player's interest. If you look at him in general outline- everything is pretty standard. We have seen this in many games, including GTA - you have to go through difficult path from a novice bandit to the most influential mafioso. But here is an important correction - all the screensavers, both before the game itself, before the start of missions and at the end, are thoroughly imbued with the atmosphere of classic gangster films. The player quickly gets involved and feels in the shoes of the protagonist, which is the highest praise for the developers.

The gameplay itself of Mafia and Mafia 2 is essentially copied from the Grand Theft Auto series - here you can also drive cars, including public transport, shoot, break laws, fight enemy gangs and, thus, attract the attention of the police. But if Mafia and Mafia 2 had stupidly copied their older brother, they would not have attracted as much attention to themselves, nor would they have gained such incredible popularity that they have today. There are very significant advantages in gameplay over any other games. For example, car control has been made more realistic (this applies, first of all, to old competing projects - the first Mafia versus GTA 3), as well as the entire physical model in general. In addition, the gameplay itself is more uniform and measured, which may not please fans of hurricane action games, but will completely satisfy aesthetes computer games. And you won’t be able to do without shooting - you definitely won’t be bored!

Another very serious advantage of Mafia and Mafia 2, affecting the realism and gaming atmosphere, is the strictness of the police. For example, in the same GTA no one will even pay attention if you drive through a red traffic light. Here it will attract the attention of the cops. Also, speeding has a similar effect, and the higher it is, the more serious the consequences for our hero. In GTA, you can at least fly on the ground in a car - it doesn’t matter. Since we've already touched on the topic of cars, Mafia has something that many, many games really lack - limited fuel in the tank. You will have to pay money for refueling. As well as for repairing the car itself. And in general, money is needed, as in real life- for buying things (in the case of our games - weapons), restoring health, paying fines... Not to mention the fact that they are useful for saving the game.

The police work is also impressive, designed more realistically than in other games. For minor offenses you will get off with a fine. For more serious cases, such as carrying a firearm or using a bladed weapon, a serious accident or serious speeding, arrest is provided. If you assault a police officer, use a firearm, or do any similar unlawful act, you will be subject to lethal fire. There is also an extreme level of search - anxiety. It rises if you commit a serious crime and try to escape. You will be put on the wanted list, but to do this the policeman must run to the telephone booth. The situation in such cases is greatly complicated by roads blocked by cops and FBI agents brought in to catch you.

But as expected, it is possible to hide from the police and lie low - then everything will calm down, you will be taken off the wanted list. The methods of fighting enemies are varied - there are bladed weapons (from a baseball bat to a crowbar with a knife), and firearms (from primitive revolvers to advanced pistols, machine guns and rifles), and grenades - there is everything to provide the player with fun. Another feature of the Mafia series games is that the camera in both parts shows a third-person view. Some people may like it, others may not, but if you look at it objectively, then for this game Mafia, Mafia 2 is really the best choice.

In short, serious shortcomings in gameplay Mafia and Mafia 2 are difficult to find. The most that can be complained about is that many people do not like vintage cars, the relatively weak weapons of the Great Depression era and subsequent years, which the second part describes. But this is already a matter of taste, and even among lovers of everything modern there will probably be many fans of Mafia games - is this not an indicator of their genius?

Conclusion

These games are truly great. The player will have his teeth on the keyboard, but will try to go as far as possible in one sitting. Everything is extremely exciting and exciting - a brilliantly conveyed atmosphere of the times when the events described took place, all the “charm” of confrontations between mafia clans, where you will start as a simple pawn and end up as a major crime boss... Everything is for you. If for some reason you haven’t played Mafia and/or Mafia 2 yet, be sure to try it! A pleasant time is guaranteed.

In this category we have collected the best games in which you can try yourself in the role of a person who is on the other side of the law. Here you can download online projects, allowing you to step into the shoes of a street gangster, as well as check out the list of the best mafia games on PC.

The best mafia games

1. Mafia Series

The sequels that followed in 2010 and 2016 could not surpass the quality of the original, but nevertheless, all games in the franchise provide the deepest possible immersion into the wilds of the gangster world.

2. Grand Theft Auto series

The heroes of the GTA series games can hardly be called real mafiosi - they are, rather, ordinary ones, for whom there are no rules, laws or concepts. But still, these projects show the life of criminals in an extremely realistic way, revealing its positive and negative sides (with an inevitable preponderance of the latter).

3. Yakuza 0

An action-adventure game, the debut of the Yakuza series on PC, demonstrating the life of members of the Yakuza organization. is not only a guide to the exotic world of crime, but also a guide to the late 1980s: here at any time you can take your mind off fights and shootouts, and relax at a disco, karaoke or arcade machines.

4. Sleeping Dogs

If the previous game from the top introduced gamers to the Japanese mafia, then this one shows the life of Hong Kong gangsters: the protagonist, an undercover cop, infiltrates a criminal organization in order to destroy it from the inside, but does not notice how he himself becomes part of it. The developers have released a high-quality third-person action game, which, in accordance with stereotypes, focuses on hand-to-hand combat using martial arts techniques.

5. True Crime duology

The games True Crime: Streets of LA and True Crime: New York also talk about working undercover, but here instead of an oriental flavor - a demonstration of the life of American street gangs: hip-hop, wide pants, shootouts and others essential attributes. Interesting fact: Sleeping Dogs was supposed to be the third part, but during the development process it changed the developer and publisher, and eventually took shape as an independent project.

Games in the series have been removed from official digital services

6. The Godfather duology

8. Guns, Gore & Cannoli

From dark games to frivolous ones: the Guns, Gore & Cannoli duology is a hurricane run-n-gun, in which the main character (with a partner in cooperative mode), of course, a mafioso, shreds, shoots, blows up numerous opponents, including includes not only representatives of warring families, but also Nazis, Nazi zombies and other monsters.

9. The Darkness

A series of first-person shooters based on the comic book of the same name. Main character The Darkness is a member of the mafia who unexpectedly received the power of Darkness, giving him supernatural abilities. With them, ordinary criminal showdowns turn into bloody meat grinder with limbs flying in all directions. In addition to dynamic gameplay, the games in the series can boast of a very good plot, in which there is a place for ancient rituals, betrayals and love drama.

10. Mafia City H5

Are parts 1, 2 and 3 of the game "Mafia" strongly related to each other? and got the best answer

Answer from
Let's start with the fact that there is no 3rd part. You can start playing with the 2nd one because they are not connected to the first one.

Answer from Epic Game[expert]
No, not related. There's the first and second mafia different characters, and in general everything is different.

Answer from Alexey Fadeev[newbie]
No

Answer from Nikita Romensky[guru]
Actually, there is a connection... In the 1st part there is a certain Tommy Angello, who will also appear in the 2nd part, for a short time, but he will appear (there is no information about the fact that he was in the 1st). I haven’t played the first one, but I heard that the game is a masterpiece, although there is a difficult race, which in terms of popularity is only surpassed by the helicopter on a construction site in GTA: Vice City, and it seems like a pretty good game, but I haven’t played it and I can’t judge. In the 1st part everything happens in 30 in the USA, and in the 2nd in 50 in the same USA. I think after playing you will understand that it is small, but there is a connection!

Answer from Nikita Def[newbie]
Be sure to play part 1, it's worth it. There really is no connection between the games, except that in the epilogue of the first part the main characters 2 are shown. In the race you can choose the difficulty level, after fiddling around I’m sure you’ll pass it. Good luck)
