Installation of Magellan blinds. How to attach blinds to plastic windows: types of fasteners. Features of fastening roll, horizontal and other types

After purchasing blinds, the question arises of how to install them. In principle, you can turn to professionals, they will do everything quickly and efficiently, but of course not for free. If you don’t want to spend money and you think that you can handle such work yourself, then this article is for you.

I draw your attention, try to evaluate your strengths and capabilities without emotion, pragmatically and calmly, otherwise you may ruin the purchased blinds and damage the window.

Preparation

We decide what type of blinds we purchased: horizontal, vertical or roller blinds.

Horizontal blinds are called blinds with slats (slats) parallel to the floor and ceiling, vertical blinds are called blinds with slats perpendicular to them. Roller blinds are sun protection products that consist of a canvas (in most cases fabric) wound on a shaft.

It is necessary to take the measurements correctly, otherwise all the work will go down the drain. If you make a mistake and the lamellas turn out to be too long, then removing the extra lamellas will not be difficult, but on the contrary, you will hardly be able to add them if you have shortened more than necessary.

Installation of horizontal blinds in the overlay

We measure the width and height window opening, blinds must exceed it in these indicators by at least 3 cm or more.

If the blinds are mounted on the ceiling, measure the distance from the ceiling to the window sill.

If the window is flush with the wall, the handle may get in the way when opening, so you will have to use brackets. Make sure that they do not touch the mechanisms inside the cornice.

The tools you will need are a hammer drill or a drill and a screwdriver.

  1. We fix the brackets at the required height.
  2. Installing the cornice
  3. We mount the control handle.
  4. Checking the result

Installation of horizontal blinds on PVC brackets

You will need a screwdriver and wire cutters

  1. Using a special screw, we connect the PVC bracket to the universal bracket.
  2. Take a piece of cable of the required length and secure the upper cable clamp with a screwdriver
  3. We pass the cable through the cornice and slats
  4. We install PVC brackets on the cornice and attach it to the sash of the plastic window. We tighten the cornice with a special wrench from the fastening kit.
  5. Installing PVC brackets for the bottom of the window
  6. Pass the cable through the clamp in the bottom bracket and tighten it
  7. Now all that remains is to install the control knob and check how successful the installation is.

Installation of vertical blinds. Instructions

  1. Mark the wall brackets to a height of plus 2 cm. The extreme fasteners should be removed 10-20 cm from the cornice.
  2. Assemble the bracket with the spring
  3. Drill a hole 6 mm in diameter with a hammer drill in the wall
  4. After inserting the dowel and plugs, use self-tapping screws to secure the brackets.
  5. Install brackets on the cornice to attach the decorative panel
  6. Next you need to install the cornice. Remember, its front part must be inserted into engagement with the short edge of the fastening spring. Gently press the tail of the spring until you hear a characteristic click.
  7. Using a rope, move the runners to one side, using a chain, turn them 90 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the cornice
  8. Attach the slats to the assembled runners
  9. To prevent the slats from dangling in the wind like strips of fabric, we insert weights into special pockets on them
  10. Install decorative panel and the bottom chain.
  11. We check the assembled structure.

Installing roller blinds on a window

Tools: drill or hammer drill, drill bits, level, double-sided tape, anchor screws, screwdrivers.

Roller blinds can be mounted on the wall, window opening or install without drilling.

We make sure that nothing will interfere with the opening/closing of the roller blind. If, for example, a window handle interferes with the opening of the structure, then you can turn the curtains over so that they unfold counterclockwise rather than clockwise.

  1. Assembling a roller blind. We insert a plug into one end of the pipe, and install a mechanism with a control circuit into the opposite end;
  2. To mark and drill holes for self-tapping screws, we apply the curtains to the window. We align the shaft horizontally, to do this you need to use a level.
  3. After this, install the clamp into the bracket and fasten it to the bracket.
  4. Pass the fishing line into the special lower hole in the bracket so that it does not fall out, make a knot. The fishing line from the other end must be threaded into the guide and pulled into the lower clamp.
  5. Place double-sided tape on the bracket. Don't forget to degrease the surface before doing this.
  6. By removing upper layer on tape, we mount the curtain on the window.
  7. We snap the hooks on the brackets until they stop.
  8. Next, we secure the bracket with self-tapping screws and secure the bracket on the other side.
  9. We check the quality of the installation.

Installing mini roller blinds with fishing line

Usually they are installed separately on each of the window sashes

  1. Make sure you have all the necessary components.
  2. If necessary, shorten the curtain fabric, then secure it to the shaft
  3. Thread a fishing line into the holes on the fastening corners and tie knots at its edges.
  4. Cut off the rest of the line
  5. Carefully, using extreme accuracy, insert the capsules into the edges of the shaft with the wound curtain.
  6. Snap the edges of the capsules of the fastening angles.
  7. Make sure the installed curtain is working properly.

Twice a year in spring and autumn, washing and removing dust from curtains pleases few people, and many have already abandoned them, giving preference to blinds: it is convenient to open or close the window from annoying people at any time of the year sun rays or the curious glances of random passers-by. Are there any differences between them, and what types of blinds exist?

Types of blinds

The huge variety of species and types is amazing, but despite this they are divided:

  • For vertical: are made from a wide variety of materials with slats of different widths, which are attached to the top and bottom of the structure using a strong thread. Convenient to use, they allow you to adjust the flow of light of different intensities, move them completely or leave them half-open. Cornices can also be of different types, but the most durable ones are made of aluminum. Installation is possible both in city apartments and in office premises;
  • Vertical fastening solution– it was from this type that the tradition of installing instead of dusty curtains blinds, or as an additional device for adjusting the light flux in home or production premises. Convenient for those who use the window sill as a mini-greenhouse: moisture does not get on the fastening elements and the slats themselves;
  • Pleated- a new word in interior design: on the window you can see an accordion made of the main material, very original and unusual looking, impregnated with anti-dust agents that do not allow it to settle. It can even be washed, the accordion will not change its configuration, and many have already liked this type of window accessory;
  • Roll view– with multifunctional functions and anti-dust properties, suitable for any type of interior. They are especially good for eastern solutions: the bamboo design is original and looks unusual on the windows. Installation is convenient, they can even be installed on the ceiling;
  • Interframe view– they are usually made horizontally, but they are intended for windows with wooden frames: there is more space between them, and in order not to clutter the window, they are installed in a new way. The controls are located outside, which is very convenient for users;
  • For owners with arched windows similar blinds are produced in various colors and all kinds of materials;
  • Automatic designs– with the installation of an electric motor. Justified in those rooms where manual adjustment causes difficulties due to the height of the opening, and the control panel itself can be set to the desired position of the structure slats;
  • The so-called "Roman blinds". They have recently become widespread because they are made exclusively from durable material that can not fade from sunlight for a long time;
  • Photo solution– they are usually made to order according to the customer’s layout: favorite photo will be the basis for applying the selected pattern;
  • For placement in attics, that is, corner structures.

Depending on the material they are made of, they can be very diverse, and the listing can take several pages of text.

How to choose blinds

Vertical structures are considered the most convenient and reliable: the slats simply turn in one direction or the other, or slide onto one side of the window, letting in light or shading the room. The choice of designs is simply huge: various material and a lot of colors.

In the blinds vertical type the slats do not rotate, but simply rise to the top of the window frame, sometimes this helps protect against moisture from watering home flowers.

The roll-up type is rarely used at home because they do not have a lifting mechanism and can only cover an entire window or a specific opening. They are good for bedrooms, that is, where it is necessary to completely get rid of light.

Fastening methods

Installation can be carried out inside, on top of the window frame, to load-bearing wall or along the upper slope, as well as the ceiling. The choice should match the type of blinds themselves.

All types must have a cornice - a base to which they can be fastened; this is the main fastening element. And it is the installation of this load-bearing part - important point installation

First you need to determine the location of the brackets on which the cornice will be installed.

Horizontal structures are usually mounted in window frame if they have a small specific gravity and short length, designed for only one window.

If they are heavy and will be installed on the entire opening at once, then fastening is carried out along the window slope, wall or ceiling.

If a double-glazed window is installed, then it is necessary to carry out the work with great care: first mark the location, check the dimensions, and only then can you start drilling holes for the brackets. If you make a mistake and drill in the wrong place, it will be very difficult to seal the holes, and excess cold air will flow through them. Even sealing construction foam will not help: traces will still remain.

If installation is planned on the upper wall, then you must first find out the material from which it is made. It must be load-bearing, and not made of wood-shaving material; in the latter case, the cornice may fall from its weight.

The final appearance of the structure will also be important: it should be in harmony with the rest of the decor and not stand out against the general background.

It is better to mark by level: the slightest discrepancies in height or width can lead to failure of the control mechanism.

The main methods include:

  1. Directly into the opening of the window frame;
  2. On the frame;
  3. On a load-bearing wall;
  4. To the ceiling.

Required Tools

For necessary work A thrifty owner always has the necessary tools, and there is no need to purchase anything special:

  • Soft meter for measuring distances and heights;
  • Power drill and thin drill about 2 mm;
  • Screwdriver with straight or Phillips head;
  • Pencil with graphite center:
  • Level;
  • In other cases, polyurethane foam may be needed to level the wall or ceiling.

How to install blinds - step-by-step instructions

Let's look at a few specific installation methods:

Installation on a window frame or specific sash

Please note that the package already includes everything you need for work. Everything needs to be unpacked and prepared. comfortable spot to place them:

  • Remove the packaging material from the curtain rod;
  • It is possible to strengthen the cornice in different ways: using screws, on pre-installed special brackets of their kit, or by doing this in the old-fashioned way by drilling the required hole diameter:
  • If you choose fastening with screws directly into the window frame or sash, then this method will be the most reliable and durable, and there will be no leakage. Such fasteners are not suitable for vertical blinds: the holes made will be noticeable and the appearance will be unattractive.
  • Fastening on brackets is suitable for any type and type of structure, and there is no need to drill holes.

Horizontal

Usually the fasteners are carried out along the top of the window opening, and only a little of the edges of the lamellas extend beyond the sash. This is due to the convenience of manual control. In the delivery set, take a set of screws and secure the structure at the marked points:

  • For leveling, you can use plastic spacers that are installed on the profile, and the cornice is already attached to them;
  • You can adjust the tension of the fishing line: twist it in one direction or another so that the slats move freely, but at the same time do not sag.

Vertical:

  • Determine the exact location. If the fasteners are supposed to be on a wall or ceiling, then the lamellas themselves should extend beyond the parameters of the opening by about 10 cm;
  • The delivery set includes special latches, we fix them on the cornice;
  • We install all the slats to the holder bar and runners;
  • We attach the control element (usually in the form of a chain) to the plumb lines;
  • Distribute evenly over the opening and check functionality.

Rolled

  • Align it to the size of the window, trim off the excess, remove the canvas from the roller. We mark the sizes;
  • We adjust the lower part to the size of the window opening. Now you should install a part with a plug and a small protrusion on the shaft;
  • Mix the width of the curtains, cut off the excess;
  • We fasten the canvas on the top roller so that about 5 cm remains - we wrap it in the top roller;
  • You can begin installing the structure using the above methods.

Installation cost

If you do the installation yourself, you will only need to pay for a set of curtains, and craftsmen can charge from 1 to 3 thousand rubles for the work.

Just 10-20 years ago there was no choice of window coverings - only massive curtains and curtains were hung on the windows. Progress does not stand still, and in last years new species appear window curtains. The most popular now are blinds. In apartments you can often see a combination of blinds + Roman blinds and blinds + curtain. This method of curtaining protects the home from the sun, street noise and can decorate the window. Increasingly, instead of heavy curtains and blinds, compact roller blinds and blinds are used in everyday life. They fit much better with metal-plastic window frames. They are used in both offices and residential premises.

Types of blinds

Designers bring to life a variety of solutions that have no analogues. There are the following types of blinds:

  • plastic;
  • wooden;
  • fabric.

Installing blinds on a plastic window is a job that requires preparation. The installation process will depend on the type and shape of this product. Note that blinds are classified according to their shape:

  1. Horizontal.
  2. Vertical.
  3. Rolled.

Horizontal ones are most suitable for living spaces. They do not take up space under the windows and can be mounted both inside and outside the sash. Can be combined with curtains different sizes and styles.

Vertical blinds look better in office spaces. Their peculiarity is that they can be attached directly to the ceiling. They can visually increase the space and are suitable for rooms with low ceilings.

Roller blinds have a wide palette of colors and can decorate any room. Made from fabric, they are easiest to clean from dust and dirt. There are several ways to attach them.

In the CIS, you can most often find blinds made in China, Belarus and Russia in stores. Since the bulk of the population has plastic windows, especially in cities, then you need to study the information on how to install them correctly. Let's consider several options for how to attach them to windows with your own hands, so as not to damage the window structures.

Standard installation of blinds on plastic windows

Blinds can be attached different ways. It can be:

  • installation by drilling;
  • using double-sided tape;
  • using magnets;
  • using brackets.

When purchasing, instructions are included on how to hang blinds on plastic windows yourself. Mostly advice is given on how to install them by drilling windows. In this case, the fastening is carried out to the window frame above the double-glazed window. You need to carefully study the instructions and carefully take measurements.

Installation of blinds is carried out in the following ways:

  • into the opening of a plastic window;
  • onlay;
  • for each half of the window separately.

Important! Before purchasing blinds for two window halves, make sure that the lifting mechanism is on the left and right sides. Otherwise, the cords from different halves will interfere with each other.

Installing blinds on windows using drilling is not suitable if you plan to change the type of curtain. After drilling, marks will remain on the window profile, and this will be noticeable. The blinds are attached with screws and this moment this is the most reliable look fastenings

Let's take a closer look at how to hang horizontal blinds on windows. The process can be divided into the following stages:

  1. We retreat 5-6 cm on both sides and mark the location for attaching the blinds. At this stage, you need to measure the distance very accurately, since if there is an error of even a couple of millimeters, your blinds will hang askew and will soon fail.
  2. We make holes for the brackets with a screwdriver, paying attention to whether the window sash will open or not. If the window will open, then the hole is made in the upper part of the window sash; if it is blind, then on the outside.
  3. After inserting the blinds into the brackets, just snap them into place.
  4. On the side of the sash you need to make a hole for the latch.
  5. Check how the mechanism works and whether it is comfortable for you.

Vertical blinds are a little easier to install; the following procedures should be followed:

  1. We make markings for the brackets, retreating 10 cm from the edge of the cornice.
  2. We drill holes and insert dowels into them. After this we fix the brackets.
  3. We install the fasteners together with the slats on the cornice.
  4. We assemble the runners, fasten them into the canvas, and then attach weights to the bottom of the slats.
  5. You can check the operation of vertical blinds.

The brackets can be glued with double-sided tape if you do not want to spoil the window profile. If after drilling the window there are excess holes left, they can always be removed with acrylic sealant.

If you purchased roller blinds, you can use another installation method to install them.

Alternative types of installation

It is not necessary to drill into the window to attach the blind base. There are other options for attaching blinds to windows. To install roller blinds you will need the following tools:

  • Double-sided tape;
  • liquid Nails;
  • scissors;
  • ruler or level.

Roller blinds are a smooth canvas that can be rolled up, raised or lowered using a special mechanism. Roller blinds do an excellent job of protecting from scorching sun rays, while at the same time decorating the living space. Let's look at how to install roller blinds on plastic windows. This type of curtains is attached separately to each window sash. Roller blinds come in several types, and the mounting method for each type may vary.

The Mini roller system is a classic roller blind on a compact shaft. They can be easily installed on individual plastic window sashes. The fasteners are attached without drilling, and thanks to this the frame remains intact. To prevent the fabric from sagging, the lower metal rail should be fixed using special magnetic holders. The window sash can be opened in any way.

Roller cassette curtains are roller blinds that are assembled into a cornice that looks like a compact cassette. This type of curtain is suitable for flaps, plastic or aluminum. The most popular curtain options are the Rollite and Uni systems. Models of these designs include strips for double-sided tape. Using these strips, the guides are glued to the window sash.

Cassette blinds are controlled by a single chain, with the help of which the height of the curtain is adjusted. A special clamp is installed on the window frame, which keeps the chain from sagging when the window is ventilated.

Isotra and Isolite systems are also popular. A plastic window with this type of blinds can be used in any mode without fear of breaking the system. Fastening is carried out using glazing beads, in which small holes will need to be made. If such glazing beads become damaged, they can be easily and quickly replaced at any time.

Interestingly, the method of attaching blinds to the wall is still used. This type of installation does not harm the plastic window; you just need to take the correct measurements.

Marking before installation

In the question of how to hang blinds on plastic windows, one of the main points is the correct measurements of the window and the design of the blinds. You need to take measurements before going to the store. The main thing is to comply optimal distance along the edges of the markings, armed with a ruler and pencil. It’s even better to mark it on the window itself with a pencil using a level; in this case, you don’t need to rely on your personal feelings and measure by eye. The fasteners must be marked symmetrically on all sides. When installed inside a window opening, our design should not reach 3 cm. When installed on top of the window, it should protrude no more than 5 cm at the edges. The height should be 3-4 cm higher. It is necessary to ensure that the blinds do not extend beyond the boundaries of the glass.

It happens that the mounting plates do not fit tightly to the window profile. In this case, special shims are used, which, depending on the gap, are used in different quantities– from one to four pieces.

You need to measure the height and width of the window along the light opening to the edge sealing rubber bands. Then measure the depth of the bead from the glass to the outer surface of the profile. It is necessary to take into account the availability window fittings, so that it does not interfere with the operation of the blinds. If you take incorrect measurements, unnecessary sunlight will shine through the cracks in the blinds.

To attach horizontal blinds made of plastic, the Holis and Magnum system is used.

Before installing blinds, you need to prepare window openings. They must be smooth and clean. Ideally, they need to be degreased.

Remember, with the slightest error in measurements and installation of fasteners, there is a great risk of damaging both the windows and the structures themselves. Installing blinds with your own hands should be treated with greater care and attention, as this is a very painstaking job.

How to choose blinds

When choosing blinds for your apartment, you need to carefully select the material, color and texture in order to harmoniously fit this type of curtain into the living space. If you have a glazed balcony, then plastic or aluminum blinds will be the only right solution for balcony windows.

An important advantage of blinds is their compactness, heat and sound insulation. When using this type of curtain, your window sill is freed up. You can save a lot on energy consumption, as blinds protect your living space from excess sunlight and heat. In summer, the air conditioner will operate in a more economical mode. Now you can purchase structures not only from plastic and aluminum, but from bamboo and wood.

Vertical blinds are often treated with special dust-repellent solutions. This design can be rolled up and washed in washing machine or with your hands.

Enough interesting view for interior decoration for pleated curtains. Pleated blinds are made from pleated fabric and are attached directly to the window. These curtains are closed using a cord.

The most refined and expensive look wooden blinds. Wooden plates do not rattle, have a natural structure, protect the room from light and do not heat up. They enhance the room and fit into any interior, suitable for both offices and bedrooms. They are made from Canadian linden and balsa wood varieties.

You can also choose multi-textured blinds - a combination of plastic and fabric. Vertical plastic blinds are made to be curly, because of this the entire room is filled with a variety of light reflections. They look like curtains made of airy fabrics.

A new product on the market is photo blinds. Any design can be applied to the white slats, and when the blinds are opened you can admire the beautiful picture.

Japanese curtains are a combination of several fabric panels made of fabric or plastic. They move along the cornice with different guides and can move and move apart.

You can always change the look of your windows by buying new blinds - and you have a new room without renovation. Carefully choose the color of the curtains, paying attention to the colors of the furniture in the room.

Installing ready-made blinds on windows does not require any special skills. Moreover, for this, in general, simple work, sometimes you have to pay quite a lot of money to professional installers.

Therefore, it would be most advisable to mount the blinds to the ceiling with your own hands. To do this, you can make do with improvised tools that are available in the arsenal of any home craftsman.

Aesthetics and practicality

Just recently, blinds were perceived as nothing more than some kind of foreign exotica. But quickly enough our fellow citizens, accustomed to traditional curtains and drapes, were able to appreciate the practicality of use and the aesthetic beauty of these structures.

From then on, the “triumphant march” of these light-protective devices, invented back in the 18th century in the USA, began through apartments and offices in our country. Today, we no longer perceive them as something unusual - more and more owners of residential and office premises give preference to these easy-to-use lattice structures.

The only negative that can be pointed out is the higher price of blinds compared to classic curtains from fabric. However total cost the structure can be reduced if you install it on the windows yourself.

Design features of blinds

Vertical blinds

Today there are several types of blinds on our market, differing from each other in the features of their design. Depending on their type, the methods of attaching blinds also differ:

  1. Horizontal blinds. The slats (or so-called “slats”) in this design are located one above the other. The access of light into the room here is regulated by rotating the lamellas around their axis, as a result of which they either press tightly against each other or form a gap. As a rule, such structures need to be installed directly on window frames.
  2. Vertical blinds. They differ from the first option in the arrangement of lamellas hanging from top to bottom. In this case, adjusting the access of light can be done either by turning the lamellas or by moving them to the side, as with conventional fabric curtains. In this case, the fasteners for the blinds are located directly above the window - on the wall above the window opening or on the ceiling.
  3. "Roman curtain". Is one of the varieties horizontal devices. Only the access of light here is regulated not by turning the slats, but by lifting the entire structure: the curtain goes up, rolling up into a roll. Fasteners for blinds of this type are also located either on the wall, above the window, or on the ceiling.

The materials from which devices can be made are very different - aluminum, wood, fabric. But this in no way affects the installation features of the blind mounts. As a result, we have two main types of fastening:

  • directly on the window frame (for horizontal type devices);
  • on the wall or ceiling (mounts for vertical blinds).

If some damage is caused to the blinds during the work, it will no longer be possible to exchange them for others. Warranty for damage caused by self-installation, does not apply.

Installing blinds on a wall or ceiling

Blinds mounting diagram

The main device with which they are attached vertical blinds, is a cornice. It contains rotary and sliding mechanisms, the slats hanging down are attached to it.

Preparatory work

For fastening the cornice vertical device to the wall or ceiling, you will need the following tools:

  • impact drill or hammer drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • roulette;
  • building level;
  • pencil.

Before you begin installing the cornice, you should do everything necessary measurements. The height of the cornice must be installed in such a way that the slats hang at least 5 - 10 cm below the window or window sill.

At the required height on the wall, mark a point and, using a pencil level, draw a strip along which the cornice will be attached. On this line, mark a point that exactly coincides with the middle of the window.

Installation of cornice

Next we will need to determine the points for installation fastening elements– dowel-nails. To do this, we attach the cornice from the blinds kit to the line so that its center corresponds to the mark of the center of the window.

If the part already has holes for fastening elements, then we place points in these places on the wall or ceiling, depending on where you intend to attach the cornice. If ready-made technical holes are not provided, then you will have to make them yourself using a drill, stepping back a few centimeters from the edge of the cornice.

Then, using a hammer drill or impact drill We drill the wall (ceiling) and hammer a plastic dowel into the hole.

We put the cornice back in place so that the mounting holes in the cornice coincide with the dowels installed in the wall or ceiling, and use self-tapping screws to secure it in the desired position.

In the case of a significant width of the cornice or the overall massiveness of the structure, it is recommended to additionally secure the cornice in the center in one or two places.

Installing blinds on window frames

This installation method is used mainly for horizontal devices. Unlike attaching a curtain rod to a wall or ceiling, this method Many home craftsmen find it difficult.

Many people do not quite understand how to attach the structure to the frame of plastic windows. Meanwhile, the same self-tapping screws or self-tapping screws are used for this.

In this case, when drilling an aluminum or polyvinyl chloride frame with a self-tapping screw, the tightness of the window does not suffer at all.

To do this, as in the first case, we make markings in such a way that the blinds evenly protrude beyond the edges of the glazing on both the right and left. In this case, we take into account that all preliminary measurements were made before purchasing the blinds, and they exactly match the size of your window. We install the blind holders directly on the window frame, using metal screws (for aluminum frames) or ordinary screws (for PVC frames) for fastening. For more information about installing blinds, watch this video:

We snap or screw the supporting cornice onto the holders - depending on design features devices. We sequentially install rotary mechanisms with control cords on the cornice. It is also possible to install blinds of this type in the inter-frame space if you have double wooden frames at home.

The light protection device is mounted on the inner frame on the side facing the outer frame. To control the blinds in this case, a hole is drilled in the upper part of the frame through which the cords of the rotating system are threaded. To learn how to install blinds without screws, watch this video:

As you can see, installing any type of blinds on windows can be easily done with your own hands. This will allow you to significantly save on calling a team of professional installers. To carry out the work, it is enough to have only a standard set of household items. construction tools and necessary mounting hardware.

Interior design often involves choosing window decor. Today, horizontal blinds are increasingly used for such purposes. Designs of this type are characterized by ease of operation and long service life. Installing blinds requires special skills, so a beginner cannot always solve this problem. If you do not know how to install horizontal blinds on plastic windows, be sure to consult a specialist.

Advantages

Horizontal blinds are several thin plates that are connected to each other by a thread. This allows you to control their location in different planes. Such designs come in several types, each of which differs in the material of the lamellas.

The most common modifications are blinds made of aluminum plates. This product has many advantages:

  1. The metal perfectly withstands temperature changes and is also not susceptible to destruction under the influence of ultraviolet radiation.
  2. The lamellas are light in weight, but at the same time have a fairly large margin of safety. They resist deflections well.
  3. They don't burn.
  4. The material does not accumulate dust, grease and odors. Perfect for both a modern office and a home kitchen.
  5. The service life can reach 20-30 years (with proper care).
  6. Relatively simple and quick installation.
  7. Easy to care for. To clean the surface, simply wipe the surface periodically with a damp sponge.
  8. The design takes up little space, which allows them to be installed in almost any interior.

One more popular view horizontal blinds are wooden crafts. This product has the following advantages:

  1. The material protects the room very well from light penetration.
  2. The wood does not heat up.
  3. The products are environmentally friendly. They do not accumulate dust, which allows them to be used in the bedroom or nursery.
  4. Unique design. The slats are made from various tree species. This allows you to choose a design at your discretion.

It should be understood that wood is afraid of moisture, so it is not recommended to use such blinds in the kitchen or other wet rooms.

Lamels today are also made from polymer materials. Plastic blinds differ in the following features:

  1. The quality of light protection is the best among all the models reviewed.
  2. Cleaning the plastic is quite easy. In this case, you can use almost all household detergents.
  3. The material tolerates moisture well.
  4. The service life is practically unlimited.
  5. The plastic construction is lightweight and small in size.
  6. Plastic tolerates well high temperature. This allows you to install blinds even in swimming pools and bathrooms.
  7. Ease of use.
  8. Relatively low price.

But plastic is not a universal material. Blinds should not be installed near any heat sources. This can lead to deformation of the plates. Also, the polymer quickly fades in the sun and gradually turns yellow.

Mounting methods

Horizontal blinds are available in various sizes and modifications, which can be adapted to the specific characteristics of the window. fasten similar systems may be in different places:

  1. To the ceiling. This type of placement is only possible for solid foundations.
  2. On the sash. Fixation occurs directly on the window frame itself. Often similar options are found when blinds are used small size for each individual glass.
  3. To Wall. One of the most popular ways installation It is used for structures that completely cover the entire surface of the window.
  4. In the window opening. Here, installation can be carried out directly on the base of the frame or on the ceiling of the slopes.

When choosing the location of blinds, you should take into account their functionality and design features. All these characteristics must be qualitatively combined with each other.

Preparation for installation and measurements

Installation of horizontal blinds is technically possible without specific experience. The procedure for marking the fasteners begins. To do this, the structure is applied to the future location and the locations of the brackets are marked. It is important that the system is positioned strictly horizontally.

If the products were sold disassembled, then the blinds should be assembled before marking. All such operations should be performed only on the basis of the manufacturer’s instructions. This will avoid distortion and possible damage elements during operation.

When marking, it is important to consider the location of the product. The mechanism should not interfere with the opening of the valves, unless, of course, it is mounted directly on top of it.

Installation methods

No drilling

Many manufacturers have simplified the installation method for horizontal blinds as much as possible. You can attach this structure yourself using the following fasteners:

  • Double sided tape. Fastening can be done either directly using adhesive tape or using special brackets. Last option involves fixing the fastener using this tape. Please note that this installation option is only possible on the window sash itself. To obtain a reliable fixation, it is important to pre-degrease its surface. After this, marking is done. It is necessary that the canvas be positioned strictly parallel to the plumb line. If there is a misalignment, then this will lead to rapid wear of the control mechanism. When the entire system is aligned, you can fix the structure on the window.
  • Clamps. This option can only be used for opening doors. The installation process involves fixing the clamps directly to the cornice. To do this, you just need to put them on. After this, the sash is opened and these fasteners are hung on it. This is quite simple to do, as you just need to press the mechanism a little and it will click into place.

With drilling

More in a universal way installation of blinds is the use of special metal brackets. With their help, you can mount products both on the wall or ceiling, and directly on plastic sash window.

This operation consists of the following sequential steps:

  1. Initially, the location of the cornice is selected and markings are made.
  2. Forming holes. Please note that if you mark the places for them incorrectly, this will lead to skew. Since there is no need for extra holes in the wall, everything should be done carefully.
  3. Attaching the brackets. To do this, use special screws or anchors, which are often included.
  4. Installation of cornice. This element is fixed with special latches. This operation does not require significant effort.
  5. Installation of canvas.

It should be noted that this method of fastening does not depend on the location of the cornice. Here the only difference may be the type of bracket and the location of the latches on the surface of the blind frame.

How to hang it on a window opening?

The algorithm for installing blinds on a wall consists of several sequential steps:

  1. First of all, you need to determine whether all components are available. If the blinds have a width of more than 2 m, then they must be supplemented with intermediate fastening. This eliminates sagging of the cornice.
  2. The next step is marking. To do this, the blinds are located above the window in in the right place. Then they retreat from the ends by about 3 cm and mark the locations of the brackets.
  3. When all the marks have been made, use a drill to drill holes for the dowels. It is important to choose the correct hole diameter in order to form a strong connection between the fastener and the wall. If the structure is wide, then you need to drill a hole in the middle in a similar way for an additional dowel. Please note that for heavy aluminum or wooden blinds, the distance of the end screws must be at least 10 cm from the edge of the cornice.
  4. When the brackets are screwed, the cornice is hung on them. It can be fixed in several ways. The most convenient mechanism is considered to be self-latching locks. More simple products need to be screwed to the frame using self-tapping screws or self-tapping screws.

The process of installing blinds in the opening itself can be described by the following sequential actions:

  1. Initially, the technical equipment of the product is checked. Pay attention to the size of the cornice. The method of attaching it depends on this.
  2. Assembly of blinds. The process is carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Marking. To do this, the cornice is installed on the plastic window sash. Sometimes installation is possible on the ceiling of the opening or on the wall that is formed above the frame frame. When taking measurements, it is important to check whether the blinds do not interfere with the movement of the opening sashes. The mounting locations for the brackets are also marked on the base.
  4. After this, holes are drilled and fasteners are attached. You should not drill deep, as you can make a through hole. If fixation occurs directly on plastic, special screws should be used.
  5. The process ends with hanging the cornice and canvas. This process is similar to that described in the previous section.
