Ursa or Rockwool which is better? Thermal insulation materials made of glass wool - a review of the best brands of insulation. Advantages and disadvantages of modern insulation materials. Debunking marketing myths

Keepers of warmth and silence

One of the most important quality criteria for mineral wool is its environmental safety. Defining safety factors The following points are considered:

  • Length and diameter of mineral fibers;
  • Quality and chemical composition binder;
  • Availability of environmental certificates from the manufacturer.

The best mineral wool manufacturers

Only brands with a proven reputation deserve consumer trust. Among them, it is worth paying attention to the brands:

  • Rockwool
  • Paroc
  • Isover
  • Knauf
  • IZOVOL
  • Beltep

7 leaders of narrow and broad specialization are fighting for buyers by advertising their products. In contrast, “ExpertTsen” will try to give an impartial assessment of the thermal insulation material and rank the types of mineral wool based on their safety, construction merits, taking into account the average price tag and reviews of real customers.

Rockwool - stone wool without disadvantages

Photo: zorenko.ucoz.ua

Despite its Danish roots, Rockwool has many factories in Russia, which allows the company to offer a range of European quality, but without unnecessary price markups. The high quality of this mineral wool is confirmed by builders who consistently choose products from the Danish brand when carrying out work.

Mineral wool Rockwool is enhanced performance:

  • fire safety - Rockwool fibers can withstand up to 1000 degrees with standard data of 600 degrees Celsius;
  • absorption of sound and vibration, which is why the material is chosen to create noise barriers and to increase the acoustic comfort of rooms;
  • environmental friendliness - Rockwool has an EcoMaterial Green certificate, although it has long been known that many do not like mineral wool, attributing to it properties that are dangerous for environment, human life and health;
  • durability without deformation and destruction;
  • thermal insulation.

We are, of course, talking about real Rockwool; purchasing from unreliable suppliers does not guarantee the above-mentioned quality.

Reviews: “Rockwool light butts mineral wool is the best - it holds its dimensions perfectly and does not fray.”

“The house was saved in a fire only thanks to the presence of Rockwool slabs in the ceiling - it does not burn, does not shrink, and does not form dangerous voids at high temperatures.”

Paroc mineral wool - excellent quality, but high price

Photo: www.budowazagrosz.pl

Having opened any construction forum, in the topic “thermal insulation” you immediately come across the brand name Parok. Its basalt mineral wool firmly occupies a leading place in the user ratings, and there are many reasons for this. After all, Paroc means the same quality of products regardless of the location of the plant, and the best characteristics for all the main indicators of mineral wool.

Paroc's main focus is on energy efficiency. Basalt wool Parok allows:

  • save energy, including heat;
  • not to provide negative influence on ecology;
  • protect from noise and dust;
  • ensure fire safety.

This manufacturer realizes all the advantages of stone wool, there are practically no fakes, but flaw still present - high price.

Reviews: “Paroc mineral wool is my favorite! This is what I’m planning for the roof of my house.”

Isover - high quality mineral wool to choose from

Photo: atlaccapital.ru

The manufacturer offers two solutions: glass wool and stone wool. This is a big plus when choosing thermal insulation, since both of these materials are usually in demand in the construction of a particular facility. Izover has an excellent reputation in Russia and offers thermal insulation only with environmental quality certificates. Continuous implementation modern technologies make it possible to improve the characteristics of manufactured products and reduce the cost. The latest “new product” from Isover is the release of mineral wool with high strength and elasticity, without dust and with a minimum of “prickliness”. In terms of quality, products under this brand are unlikely to compare with more expensive competitors, but in terms of price/quality ratio, Isover mineral wool is one of the best.

Builder reviews: “Isover mineral wool is cheaper and better quality than many other insulation materials, so I use it for large volumes.”

Knauf produces everything!

Photo: www.dostavkasmesi.ru

Knauf is a manufacturer that has proven more than once that it can provide the construction market with the best offers. Thermal insulation is no exception. Knauf offers good quality mineral wool based on basalt fiber, as well as glass fiber composition. The first option is widely used for technical insulation, in construction and in the production of complex equipment. Fiberglass insulation is produced for specialized purposes ( HEATKnauf), as confirmed by its names:

  • HEATWALL;
  • HEAT stove;
  • WARM roofing;
  • Acoustic partition;
  • HEATROLL.

Most of the mineral wool sold by the manufacturer belongs to the series Knauf Insulation. There are no toxic phenol-formaldehyde resins used in the production of this product. The Knauf Insulation and TEPLOKnauf thermal insulation lines are intended for the construction of residential buildings by private individuals and construction organizations.

Flaw: high price

Reviews: “You rarely hear a bad word about Knauf. This means that the material is truly excellent.”

Ursa - a new generation of mineral wool

Photo: alkiv.kiev.ua

For a long time, the Ursa brand was known for its fiberglass products. But technology does not stand still, and today the company offers the market PureOne- new generation mineral wool made from natural and naturally renewable components, interconnected with an acrylic-containing binder.

The effectiveness of PureOne in terms of heat and sound insulation is very high, there are almost no complaints about other characteristics. The material has a bright white color, does not chip, does not crumble, and does not deform.

In addition to PureOne, Ursa also offers a standard range of glass wool, with all their disadvantages and advantages. The cost of products does not differ from analogues of other companies.

Builder reviews: “PureOne is the best mineral wool, with 1.5 times the elasticity and stiffness of traditional fiberglass insulators.”

“A friend who has been working on the construction of dachas for many years said: take Ursa insulation, you won’t regret it - it keeps you warm, it’s easy to work with, and it doesn’t burn. I insulated the attic at the dacha, then I itched for a week, but the house is now warm.” .

IZOVOL mineral wool is the best choice for walls and roofs

Photo: stroimaterialytorg.ru

Isovol is another type basalt wool, which is in high demand and is used for thermal insulation of walls, roofs and ventilated facades. Has excellent physical-mechanical and performance characteristics. It is non-flammable, has standard density indicators for the material, so it can crumble during operation, causing some discomfort.

It does not have a high price; all thermal insulation is available for sale and is in demand by construction organizations. The most popular line of materials recommended for carrying out work on insulation of pitched roofs roofing roofs and attic rooms.

Thermal conductivity is an important characteristic of building materials. The modern consumer prefers a product with the best performance characteristics, namely a popular brand.

It is difficult to find a good manufacturer, especially when there are so many products from different companies on the domestic market that it is difficult to understand where the product is of high quality and where it is not.

The main characteristics of mineral wool that you should pay attention to when choosing:

  1. Thermal conductivity.
  2. Density of wool.
  3. Water-repellent properties.
  4. Chemical protection.
  5. Thickness of building material.

Cost is the first thing buyers look for when choosing insulation, but it’s worth knowing that the price different suppliers will be very different, since some offer installation work and their own delivery right away.

When choosing a good insulation, you should focus on the list of material properties. The more distinctive characteristics, the better. By comparing the capabilities and cost of building materials, you can choose the best option for yourself.

The following companies have become clear leaders in the production of thermal insulation:

  1. Rockwool. The mineral wool produced by the company is actively used in many areas. The brand's mineral wool is made exclusively from basalt.
  2. Izover. Leader among manufacturers of thermal insulation.
  3. The company produces thermal insulation using a special environmentally friendly technology.
  4. Engaged in the production and sale of various building materials, including those related to thermal insulation.
  5. TechnoNIKOL. Manufacturer of high-quality insulation.

Among the leading companies, it is worth noting two, which will be discussed further. Which is better: Ursa or Knauf, whose products cope better with the thermal insulation of premises. Thermal conductivity is one of the most important characteristics for any insulation, therefore, the lower it is, the smaller the layer applied to walls, floors, roofs and other structures will be.

Products trademark Knauf is distinguished by fairly high performance characteristics and environmental friendliness. Their product is completely harmless to others. Unlike similar insulation materials, the Knauf brand does not use phenol-formaldehyde resins, since they contain many different harmful substances.

The most significant performance properties:

  1. It insulates the room well from extraneous noise.
  2. Mold and other formations do not form on the material.
  3. Fireproof. If a fire occurs, the mineral wool will resist further spread of fire.

URSA produces thermal insulation materials that effectively insulate walls, floors and roofs, as well as ventilation ducts and others communication networks. Such thermal insulation absorbs noise well and has a long service life. In various fields (industrial and private), the excellent characteristics of mineral wool from the manufacturer URSA have determined the popularity of the product.

Ursa fiberglass is distinguished by elastic and durable fibers. Between them, layers appear, ignited by air, which retain heat more efficiently. In addition to its distinctive insulation properties, mineral wool can completely isolate a room from extraneous sounds. Rating 9.9 points out of 10.

The topic of modern thermal insulation materials, both imported and domestically produced, continues to interest readers, because thanks to these materials it is possible not only to reduce home heating costs, but also to significantly reduce the cost of building construction. A leading specialist advises.

What are the advantages of URSA and Izover heat insulators?

I had to work with Russian mineral wool. Despite the special protective suit and respirator, particles of material got onto the body and into the lungs, causing very unpleasant sensations. People who constantly worked with her often received dangerous occupational diseases. Another drawback is that this heat insulator quickly deteriorates in the wall and sags, as a result of which the upper part of the wall loses its thermal insulation, while in the lower part it deteriorates significantly. Thermal insulation materials, which we offer, are completely environmentally friendly and even pleasant to the touch, durable, have better insulating properties and, finally, are cheaper than those made in Kstovo or Vyksa.

- Is there any difference between URSA and Izover?

If it exists, it is very conditional. Both materials are fiberglass, both have the same technical characteristics, even appearance they are so similar that not every specialist will be able to distinguish them when unpacked. By the way, their packaging is the same - shrink film, which reduces the transport volume by up to 35 percent of the working volume, which allows three cubic meter packages of this heat insulator to be placed in ordinary Zhiguli cars.

But we bring Izover from Finland, and URSA is manufactured in the city of Chudovo Novgorod region. Many consumers prefer imported material (it is a little more expensive), although the Germans, the owners of the Chudovsky plant, strictly ensure that the material produced here is no different from that produced in their homeland or at the concern’s factories in other countries of the world. Another question is that the capacity of the Chudovsky plant is not enough for the whole of Russia and very often people are simply forced to use imports... - Where are these heat-insulating materials used and what are their varieties? - They differ among themselves in rigidity - from M-15 to P-75 (the stiffer the material, the higher the wall it can be installed in, but the more expensive it is), in thickness - from 50 to 140 mm. Polyethylene film, foil or kraft paper may be applied to one or both sides of the material. Since they are classified as non-flammable and have excellent thermal insulation properties (their thermal conductivity coefficient is only 0.04-0.05 kcal/mhC, which means that 18 cm of heat insulation protects the house from the cold in the same way as a two-meter brickwork), are environmentally friendly, they can be used for thermal insulation and roofs, and interfloor ceilings, and external walls, and floors, and basements, and internal partitions, and heating pipes. In short, they are universal. Moreover, such materials are very convenient to work with. Install interior partition- place between a wooden beam or metal profile, on which plasterboard or GVP is attached, an insulating board of medium rigidity with a thickness of only 50 millimeters. Such a partition will provide better heat and noise insulation than one laid out with one and a half bricks. But it doesn’t need to be plastered. The labor costs for its construction are incomparably less. Due to its light weight, it can be placed almost anywhere, and the cost of the materials themselves is lower...

This is probably the main advantage of modern thermal insulation materials:

security best quality at a lower cost. For example, when building a boundary wall, you can make it out of brick. Or you can use it to build only the inner, load-bearing part of the wall with a thickness of only 175 mm (half a brick), attach an 80-120 mm layer of heat insulation to it and lay it with any facade material(besser blocks, facing brick, siding, boards). The price will be much cheaper, but the comfort of housing and its heat protection will be better. And there is no need to be afraid of these building structures- this is how they build in many countries of the world, where they live much better than in Russia. I've met more economical solutions. It is used as a load-bearing part of the structure wooden beam, between which a heat insulator is attached, the inner part of the wall is sheathed with GVP, and the outer part is lined with tongue and groove. Externally, such houses resemble garden ones, but they are warm and comfortable.

You talked about the advantages of the URSA and Izover materials, but did not mention anything about their disadvantages.

Flaws? Perhaps only one. They don't like moisture. When ingested, they partially lose their properties. Therefore, they cannot be wetted, and condensation should not accumulate on them inside building structures. For this purpose, special ventilated structures have been developed or polyethylene film, aluminum foil or kraft paper are used as vapor barriers.

Mineral wool is a porous material for organizing a heat, noise and fire protective layer. It is used in systems of ventilated roofs and facades, for insulation and fire protection of utility lines.

Mineral wool loses its insulating properties due to humidity. There is condensation in the living room cold wall accumulates between the fibers, which is why the material retains heat worse and settles under its own weight. You can prevent moisture from entering by carefully covering the insulation layer with a vapor-proof film (only from the room side). The thermal insulation cake of a ventilated attic roof, in addition to the internal vapor barrier, must have an external vapor-permeable membrane.

In this article we reviewed the products of popular manufacturers. For clarity, we have summarized their main characteristics and prices in a table:

Summary table of mineral wool manufacturers
Brand (origin/production) Produced formats Density, kg/m³ Price range, rub./m³
1. 20-190 1 516-6 790
2. Plates, mats in rolls 10-15 1 200-2 620
3. Plates, mats in rolls 18-25 1 319-2 976
4. Plates, mats in rolls, thermo-winding cylinder 13-165 1 952-3 666
5. Plates, mats in rolls, coiled cylinders 25-200 1 200-7 316

7. Plates 35-200 1 100-2 346
8. Plates, rolls, cylinders 30-200 1 305-5 930

In structure, all mineral wool is identical. Each manufacturer offers a similar range, with similar ranges of basic characteristics.

Main characteristics

  • Density is a characteristic that shows how many kilograms of stone fiber are contained in 1 cube of mineral wool. The denser the material, the better its insulating properties and the higher the price.
  • Thermal conductivity is the ability of a material to conduct heat. The lower the coefficient, the more effective the insulation.
  • Flammability is the ability to burn independently.

Environmental friendliness depends on the origin of the binder. Artificial resins are toxic, natural substances are harmless.

1. Rockwool (Elabuga, Troitsk, Vyborg, Zheleznodorozhny)

On the domestic market, products are presented in a wide range. Suitable materials available for insulation:

  • roofing (Roof Butts);
  • facades (Facade Butts);
  • internal structures (Light Butts),
  • for soundproofing rooms (Acoustic Butts) and solving other problems.

In the Russian Federation, 15 basic lines with more than 50 variants of mineral wool products are sold. Among others: single- and multi-layer rectangular slabs; long mats in rolls; cylindrical coiled products for thermal insulation of pipes; slope-forming elements.

The manufacturer claims that the main advantage is multi-component functionality (“4 in 1” - environmental friendliness, durability, fire safety and acoustic comfort), characteristic of any product based on Rockwool mineral wool.

Disadvantages of insulation appear due to violations of installation technology. Correct sequence described in the manufacturer's recommendations.

2. Knauf (Stupino, Tyumen)

Knauf has managed to combine the high vapor permeability of glass wool (previously the main product) with the low water absorption and thermal conductivity of mineral wool material.

Each of the thermal insulation options in the innovative Knauf Insulation line is designed to solve specific problems:

  • Knauf Insulation Facade - for insulating walls under ventilated facades and plaster.
  • Knauf Insulation Pitched Roof – for thermal insulation pitched roof and attic floor.
  • Knauf Insulation Acoustic Partition – for effective sound absorption.

High profitability with this material is possible when insulating large areas, such as production or retail sites. When building a private house and apartment, you will pay a little more than for regular material, but get reliably insulated surfaces.

Pros - declared environmental friendliness, due to the absence of a phenol-formaldehyde binder and packaging (a single package reduces the volume of material by half, a multipack - 8 times).

The downside is the modest size range and price.

3. Ursa (Serpukhov, Chudovo)

The insulation of the Uralita Group concern has been known for its low thermal conductivity for more than 5 years, and today it is presented in six options in different sizes. The young, innovative material “Ursa Pureone”, with a smaller range of dimensions, also managed to receive positive recommendations from professional builders.

Ursa is suitable for:

  • roof thermal insulation (Pureone, Geo);
  • insulation of facades (Terra);
  • execution interior work(Geo Light).

The main advantage of the materials in the Ursa Terra line is their resistance to biological influences. At correct device isolation system, neither rodents nor bacteria are able to adapt both internally and during external walls ah buildings.

Ursa Pureone has improved environmental and performance characteristics.

The negative aspects of Ursa insulation appear when the rules of transportation and storage are violated.

4. Isover (Egoryevsk, Chelyabinsk)

More than 20 years ago, the French concern Saint Gobain officially opened the Russian building materials market. Over the past 10 years, the company's management has abandoned the import of mineral wool to Russia and opened its own production of products under the Isover brand in the Moscow region. Today, there are two full-cycle production sites in the Russian Federation - in Yegoryevsk and Chelyabinsk.

Isover mineral wool is suitable for ventilated facades and under plaster; for pitched and flat roof; into internal partitions and doors. Materials are developed in accordance with operational features and installation specifics for each specified case. The company's catalog presents four main groups:

  • Isover warm – thermal insulation;
  • Isover quiet - Shumka;
  • Isover professional – universal insulation;
  • Isover for a house/apartment - mineral wool with a compromise combination of cost and performance.

The list offers 24 insulating material options.

All plate, roll and blown-in wool versions are packaged in heat-shrinkable polyethylene. This makes it possible to reduce the volume of insulation ready for shipment by 3-5 times (relevant for more efficient transportation).

The positive aspects of Isover are the variety of options. Can be made to your size. Among the existing advantages, the ease of use when filling hard-to-reach areas with blow-in cotton wool stands out.

The downside is the need to use highly specialized equipment (true only for the blown-in version of mineral wool).

Video instructions from Isover on weaving structures:

5. Izovol (Belgorod)

General construction and technical insulation, the structure does not differ from similar mineral wool of other brands. There are differences in technical characteristics. Involved unique technology production. Emphasis is placed on the use of environmentally friendly raw materials.

The list of options for traditional thermal insulation (ST, V, Isobel) is supplemented by mineral wool fireproofing (KV, F series) and soundproofing (Acoustic) materials. Recently, a combined insulation for a bathhouse was announced - mineral wool, laminated (a technique for joining dissimilar materials by pressing) with a thin aluminum sheet. Similar options are found in other manufacturers, but Belgorod innovators reinforced the reflective layer of their invention with fiberglass canvas.

The advantages of Izovol mineral wool are the geometric precision of the elements; ease of processing (with a knife, saw) regardless of density; acceptable cost. The disadvantages are dust (for all products) and phenols (true only for materials produced using old technologies).

The dustiness and toxicity of mineral wool is within international tolerances. When working, use individual protective equipment; when installing indoors, prevent liquid from coming into contact with the material (a vapor barrier is required); outdoors, you will need a membrane that does not prevent moisture evaporation.

Video from the Isovol presentation:

6. Paroc (Tver region)

Finnish insulating material Paroc with Swedish roots. Known for its impressive range and decent technical characteristics. Since 2013, full-fledged production of Paroc mineral wool has been established in the Russian Federation.

Slab and roll materials, thermo-wound cylinders, pressed bends and segments from the conveyor Russian plant, have the same indicators as imported insulation. Packed in the same shrink film.

Paroc mineral wool is suitable for:

  • roof insulation (ROB);
  • foundation and floor (GRS);
  • interior walls and partitions (Extra Light);
  • façade (WAS), fire protection (FPS) and soundproofing (SSB) systems.

The impressive list of options for the general construction plan is complemented by materials from the category of technical insulation (Pro, Hvac), for heating and ventilation systems, large-scale technological processes, industrial equipment.

The positive features of Paroc mineral wool are laid down at the structural level - the material is elastic and does not break (and therefore does not generate dust) during installation. Many compatriots will appreciate the manufacturer’s offer to produce the required batch according to the customer’s dimensions.

The disadvantages of cooperation include relatively high cost and the need for a thorough study of the offered range. The choice is large, so in the event of an unintentional mistake, there is a high probability of unjustified cost overruns.

Video about Paroc products:

7. Beltep (Belarus: Gomel)

Until 2007, the Belarusian enterprise Gomelstroymaterialy worked with varying efficiency and mainly for the domestic market. The popularity of high-quality and relatively inexpensive materials has become an incentive to develop a network of trading houses in the Republic of Belarus and to search for dealers outside the republic. Thus, almost 10 years ago Beltep mineral wool appeared on the construction market of the Russian Federation.

Small assortment:

  • for roofing (RUF);
  • for external walls (Vent, Facade)
  • for internal walls and partitions (Light)
  • on the floor and ceilings (Flor).

In the total mass of the main groups, there are 20 brands of mineral wool insulation. But interest in the products is actively maintained by updating the product list. Today these are materials with an impressive range of data on the main characteristics.

Pros - big choice dimensions, stable quality of each batch.

Disadvantages: low elasticity and a lot of dust during installation.

8. TechnoNIKOL (Ryazan, Yurga, Khabarovsk, Zainsk, Chelyabinsk)

is the only domestic manufacturer of insulation based on mineral fibers, which is recognized not only in the Russian Federation, but also in the Baltic countries and Europe. Production sites have been organized in 35 countries, supplies of materials have been established in 80 countries.

The proposed mineral wool is not the only product of the company, but research and development activities are also carried out with it. Therefore, today there is real access to an impressive assortment (almost 50 options).

TechnoNIKOL presents the following product lines:

  • Private construction (Technofas, Technoflor, Technoruf);
  • Professional construction (Technosandwich, Technoflor Pro, Basalit) construction;
  • Technical insulation (Mat and Cylinder Techno, Lamellar, Stitched);
  • Special options for fire protection (Techno OZB, Techno OZM).

The production involves raw materials from rocks of the gabbro-basalt group, which determines the environmental purity of the material. Other advantages are determined by the properties and characteristics of TechnoNIKOL mineral wool (fiber melting point - 1000 0 C, low thermal conductivity and vapor permeability, wide range of density indicators).

The disadvantage is the binder based on formaldehyde resins. Which explains the strict safety requirements when laying TechnoNIKOL mineral wool.

Material calculation

Differences in the dimensions of mineral wool elements can mislead you. Professionals try to save money work time. The price of a mistake is the same for everyone - budget overruns and loss of time.

To perform calculations use online calculator. It will take into account all the necessary quantities, parameters and conditions.

Man has always strived to improve his living conditions, an integral part of which is the warmth and comfort of his home. Thanks to heating systems and for air conditioners, this possibility has become real, however, with poor thermal insulation, these devices will work inefficiently and consume a lot of energy. Therefore, it is so important to properly insulate your home, using only high-quality insulation material that will last for many years.

Mineral wool can be considered one of them; it has been used for a long time in insulating the walls of houses, partitions, pipes, etc.

Mineral wool has become widespread due to its operational properties, among which the most significant:

  • non-flammability - the material itself does not burn and prevents the spread of flame if a fire occurs
  • minimal shrinkage - throughout the entire service life, mineral wool slabs practically do not shrink, which ensures uniform insulation of the building.
  • high thermal insulation properties.
  • low sound transmission capacity.
  • resistance to aggressive environments– under the influence of various substances, the properties of the material do not deteriorate.

Manufacturers of mineral wool

The leaders in the production of mineral thermal insulating wool on the domestic market are the following manufacturers:

  1. Concern Rockwool produces mineral wool intended for any structures and their elements, used both in industry and in everyday life. Mineral wool is made mainly from basalt.
  2. The Izover company is one of the leading leaders in the production of fiberglass-based mineral wool and stone fiber.
  3. Ursa is a manufacturer of fiberglass thermal insulation using eco-technology.
  4. Knauf is a leading company in the production and sale of building materials.
  5. TechnoNIKOL company is a Russian manufacturer of high-quality insulation.

Minwata Rockwool

The main feature of the laboratory production of Rockwool mineral wool is that it is identical natural conditions during a volcanic eruption.

This effect has a positive effect on the quality building material– the arrangement of the fibers is chaotic, due to which the following properties are achieved:

  • combustion resistance– at temperatures up to 1000 C they do not even melt,
  • excellent thermal insulation properties– up to 0.046 W/m K.
  • vapor tightness
  • not affected by water
  • high sound insulation
  • increased resistance to mechanical stress.

The Rockwool brand became widespread among construction companies and private consumers of the domestic market due to perfect fire safety, good hygroscopicity and sound insulation and relatively low cost. Prices from different suppliers may vary widely, because... some sellers offer immediately installation work and delivery to the site.

There are also different kinds of this insulation material, for example, the price of Rockwool Light Butts starts at 1,873 rubles for 1000x600x50mm slabs, and some facade varieties of mineral wool can reach 7,000 rubles for the same volume.

Izover insulation

The production of Izover insulation is carried out using TEL technology from high-quality fiberglass.
The product obtained in this way has the following characteristics:

  1. Thermal conductivity is about 0.041 V/m K - an indicator that provides excellent thermal insulation. Over time, this figure does not increase, keeping the room temperature constant over a long period.
  2. High level sound insulation thanks to small air gaps between the fibers, it will not only provide protection from noise on the street, but also isolate the rooms inside the building from each other.
  3. Fire safety. All Izover mineral wool is not susceptible to fire and meets fire safety requirements. Therefore, its installation can be carried out in buildings of any type.
  4. Vapor permeability is 0.5 mg/mhPa - an excellent indicator for this type of insulation material, however, with an increase in humidity by 1%, the thermal insulation decreases by 10%. In order to prevent the mineral wool from getting wet, you should leave a gap between the insulation and the wall for better air ventilation.
  5. Life time. The manufacturer claims a lifespan of 50 years without deterioration in quality; this information is confirmed by reviews from owners who have been using this material for several years.
  6. Health safety. It is believed that some types of mineral wool negatively affect human health, but scientists have proven that Izover thermal insulation does not harm human health.
  7. Weight of Izover slabs quite low, so they are widely used for insulating buildings with weak structures.
  8. Form of production. Izover mineral wool is produced in rolls of 16-20 cubic meters. meters and slabs, single-layer, 5-10 cm thick and multi-layer, the thickness of each layer is 5 cm. The cutting of slabs can be very diverse.

Minvata Ursa

Mineral wool from URSA is designed to insulate not only walls and roofs, but can also be used to insulate ventilation ducts and other communications. In addition, this thermal insulation material has high level noise absorption and long-term operation without loss of quality. All these specifications led to the widespread use of Ursa mineral wool in industrial construction and private use.

Ursa mineral wool is based on glass fiber, which has good thermal insulation properties due to the elasticity and strength of the fibers between which air gaps. The thermal conductivity coefficient of this material ranges from 0.035 to 0.044 W/mK, which is an excellent indicator for this type of insulation.

Depending on the type of mineral wool, sound insulation can be class “A” and class “B”. If, along with insulation, it is necessary to isolate the room from extraneous sounds, class “A” building materials are used, which can replace a soundproofing partition. Regardless of the type, all Ursa mineral wool is environmentally friendly and undergoes thorough testing at the production stage. The Ursa company pays special attention to human safety - it has achieved excellent results, for example, the content of harmful volatile compounds in Ursa mineral wool is 10-15 times less than in domestic or European analogues.

From a fire safety point of view, Ursa mineral wool is completely non-flammable due to its use in quartz sand. The material can withstand extreme temperatures and is able to prevent fire from spreading beyond its boundaries. As for the service life, mineral wool can be used for 50 years without losing its original properties. It is biologically stable, i.e. various rodents, microorganisms and fungi will not spread in such conditions.

Minvata Knauf

Knauf brand mineral wool, produced in Germany, is famous for its high quality and safety for human health. This is due to the fact that, unlike many of its competitors, Knauf mineral wool does not contain phenol-formaldehyde resins, which contain harmful substances.

To appreciate the properties of this building material, let’s consider its technical characteristics using the example of TeploKnauf insulation for houses and cottages in rolls:

  1. Thermal conductivity– 0.037 W/mK
  2. Noise protection– 45 W
  3. Flammability– not flammable
  4. Dimensions— 6148x1220x50
  5. Volume of one package– 0.75 sq.m.

Knauf insulation has a number of advantages that are so valued by construction organizations and individuals:
- a low coefficient of thermal conductivity allows you to maintain heat in the apartment even in the most severe frosts.
- Knauf mineral wool was widely used in houses located near tram tracks and highways.

This is due to the fact that it has excellent soundproofing properties and provides comfort and silence in the house.

  • not susceptible to rodents and fungal growths.
  • fireproof; even if a fire occurs, this substance will prevent further spread of the flame.
  • ease of transformation - mineral wool can be compressed to a size several times smaller than its actual size, thanks to this property it can be transported in large quantities.
  • the absence of shrinkage throughout the entire period of operation will eliminate the need for repairs and additional installation of mineral wool.
  • light weight, making it easy to install
  • safety for human health

The only drawback of Knife insulation can be considered its price, it is higher than that of many competitors, but in many respects technical indicators Knauf is superior to them. The cheapest version of Knife mineral wool will cost the buyer 1,200 rubles per roll of 18 square meters, 50mm thick.

Minvata TechnoNIKOL

TechnoNIKOL is domestic manufacturer insulating materials, included in the top five the best companies Europe for the production of these products. TechnoNIKOL mineral wool is made of basalt fibers, which are characterized by high environmental friendliness and thermal insulation properties. This material is used for insulation of multi-storey buildings in industrial scale, and in private housing construction.

The most common types of mineral wool produced by TechnoNIKOL are presented below:

  1. Rocklight– basalt slabs with a low content of phenol in resins, due to which this material has increased safety and environmental friendliness. The main area of application is insulation of private houses. It can be used to isolate horizontal, vertical and angled surfaces. The load on the structures is small, so they may not have high strength, which expands the scope of their application.
  2. Heatroll- a material consisting of long rolls of cotton wool that have improved sound insulation properties. They are most widely used in the insulation of roof slopes, floors between floors and attic spaces.
  3. Technoacoustic– designed primarily for sound insulation, in addition it has good heat-saving properties. It is presented in the form of cotton wool, made from specially arranged basalt fibers, due to which one layer of this material can prevent the penetration of sound up to 60 dB. This type of insulation is mainly used in the interior decoration of a building - partitions between walls, ceilings, attics.
  4. Technoblock– are produced in the form of low phenolic flat slabs that are resistant to combustion, noise and heat insulation, and are also not susceptible to moisture. They are used in most cases for insulating layered warehouses and frame buildings.

The main characteristics of TechnoNIKOL mineral wool: thermal conductivity 0.035-0.039 W/mS, vapor permeability 0.3 mg/mhPa, water absorption 1.5-2%, Density 25-50%, compressibility 8-55%.
