Pay attention to the place where the teeth are attached - the “cup” - it is composite. One wall is supported by the curved edges of the other wall and there are marks in two places spot welding. The teeth hold on weaker and weaker and at some point they simply fall off. How quickly this happens depends on your hard work, diligence and accuracy.



It would seem nonsense. I put the teeth in place, hit it a couple of times with a hammer and everything was back to normal. But that was not the case. Look at the shape of the teeth at the attachment point. Each of the teeth has a semicircular part at the top, and one of the walls of the landing cup has a depressed part (it is visible in the photo above). Obviously, in production, the teeth are first inserted, and then the seating cup is crimped. Those. For a really strong insertion of the teeth, the strength of which is not inferior to the production one, you will first need to bend one wall of the “cup”, then insert the teeth into place and return the bent wall to its original position. But we will no longer get the strength we once had. After all, it will not be possible to bend the wall without breaking the weld.

Therefore we will have to make a new mount for the teeth. Durable and collapsible for future use possible repairs. Let's get started. We made the new mount from 10mm thick plywood. We took a small strip of plywood and applied a rake to it in order to determine the dimensions of the future fastening. The mount will be trapezoidal in shape and consist of two parts. Between these two parts we will clamp the rake. Strong, strong.

To ensure fastening strength, we decided to put a nail of a suitable size (diameter) into the grooves of the teeth. Cut off the excess part of the nail.

The nail has been cut off, now let's mark the places for the screws. Both parts of the fastening will connect (tighten the rake) in seven places. A self-tapping screw on each bottom edge of the mount. Two more self-tapping screws on each edge will not only tighten both parts of the fastening, but also firmly hold the nail fixing the rake. And one self-tapping screw will tighten the fastening at the top.

Next we cut out the mount. And we drill holes. Note. Holes are drilled in one part of the fastening larger diameter. The screws should fit freely into these large holes. And in the other part of the fastening, holes are drilled smaller than the diameter of the self-tapping screw. This is necessary so that both parts can be tightened with self-tapping screws. The self-tapping screw passes freely through the first part, and then screws into the second part and pulls it very tightly. If in both one and the other part the holes are smaller than the diameter of the screw, these parts can only be connected to each other, but not tightened.

Now, take the first part of the fastening with small holes, place a rake on it, and place a nail in the grooves. The nail must be placed so that it is between the screws on one side and the other. In this position the nail will not come loose. We place the second part of the fastening with large holes on top and tighten the entire structure with self-tapping screws.







Now all that remains is to make a seat for the cutting. We will accomplish this task using mounting tape. We take the cutting, apply it to the rake and mark the place where we need to make fastenings. Cutting off required amount mounting tape.

  1. Cut a strip of steel (length 430 cm or choose at your discretion).
  2. The base of the working part is slightly bent and rounded at the edges.
  3. Mark the location of the teeth and drill holes (diameter - 5.8 mm).
  4. Prepare teeth from metal rods (cut 11 pieces 8.5 cm long and sharpen on one side).
  5. Heat the workpiece over a fire and hammer the teeth into the holes.
  6. After cooling, you need to weld the back ends of the teeth to the workpiece.
  7. Cut a piece from the pipe (diameter about 35 mm) to make the fastener. The length of the fastener is about 20 cm.
  8. Make a cut - a “slingshot” for attaching to the base. Cut length - 8 cm.
  9. It is possible to make a cut only after the pipe is heated red-hot.
  10. To attach the handle, drill a hole in the pipe.
  11. Weld the base of the rake and the holder together.
