Master class No. 2: Decorating a lamp from a bottle

A lamp made from a glass bottle will fit harmoniously on cozy balcony, without interfering with admiring the sleeping city.

To make a lamp from a bottle we will need:

  • Empty glass bottle;
  • Glass cutter;
  • Propane torch with fine tip;
  • Plastic safety glasses;
  • Sandpaper/sanding block;
  • Protective gloves, mask;
  • Liquid glue for decoration;
  • Glass stones for decoration;
  • A small lamp on a long wire with a switch;
  • Wooden chop;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Short wire/string.
  1. Let's take a bottle and remove the labels from it. It is best to practice on a couple of others before cutting the desired bottle, since cutting glass is quite difficult.
  2. Carefully use a glass cutter along the circumference of the cut line; Take your time - if the lines don’t close, you won’t be able to cut the bottle straight.
  3. Next, we take the burner, it’s best if you fasten the bottle on something slowly rotating, but you can just fasten it firmly. Carefully begin to heat the cut area, do not forget to slowly rotate the bottle if you just have it attached. After a while the cut line will split.

There is an easier way to cut a bottle: we also draw a line around the circumference with a glass cutter, place the bottle in a container with cold water, so that the cut line is covered. Next, pour a little boiling water into the bottle - the bottle will split along the cut. If it doesn’t work, repeat with a new bottle.

The cut line turned out to be sharp and uneven - sand it with sandpaper. As a precaution, wear goggles, a mask and protective gloves.

Apply a drop of glue to the edge of the bottle.

Place a glass stone on the drop of glue and press it for a while so that it sticks to the bottle.

Try to glue the stones in a circle, right up to the neck.

After sealing the entire bottle, let it dry for a day.

Let's take a lamp. You can also take more powerful lamps to make the light more powerful.

Look at how your lamp is designed to avoid damaging the wiring. Carefully disassemble the lamp and carefully remove the wire.

We thread the cord through the bottle, put the lamp back together, and check if it works. We adjust the wooden tip to the size of the neck of the bottle, so that it does not put too much pressure on the wire and paint it white.

We insert the chopper into the neck, pressing the wire with it to secure our lamp.

To have something to hang our bottle lamp from, we take the lamp cord and twist it, forming a loop. Tie the resulting loop tightly with wire or string. Add glass stones to the neck of the bottle and leave to dry for 2 days.

Here are our bottle lamps that will fit perfectly both in the country house and on the balcony!

Bottle lamp ideas

From this master class you learned only 3 ways to diversify your home unusual lamps from glass bottles, but there are still many different, non-standard and extravagant chandeliers, lamps and sconces, the manufacture of which you can find out by looking at a few more ideas. Create so that the soul rejoices and the body rests.

You can make such an unusual and simply beautiful chandelier with your own hands using multi-colored plastic bottles! We offer you a master class...

We will need:

- plastic bottles different colors at your discretion,
- scissors,
- soldering iron for processing leaves,
- thin wire for twisting branches,
- steel wire for the frame

We cut the eggplants into pieces - the size depends on the leaves you have in mind. Then we give each piece the shape of a leaf, all you need is your imagination... I did something similar to birch leaves.

Turn on the soldering iron. It’s better to take a soldering iron with a thick tip (this way there’s a better chance of hitting the cut of the leaf and not your fingers))), with a one-sided bevel...

We melt the sections, so the leaves look more impressive, especially in the light of a light bulb. We also use the edge of the sting to draw the veins on the leaves, but be careful - they quickly melt through)))

Since the eggplants themselves are cylindrical, the leaves are not flat. The trick is that when heated with a soldering iron, they warp in an unknown direction, which is why they end up looking pretty good)))

Now you need to melt a couple of holes for wires in each leaf with a hot needle. One hole is not enough, because... the leaf will dangle as it pleases, under the influence of gravity, but we still need the leaves to stick out the way we want)

Let's take it thin wire for the branches (I have copper, from the Sovpedovsky stabilizer))) cut into pieces 15-20 cm long. We take a leaf and thread a wire through it from hole to hole in a figure eight pattern) ... near the leaf we twist the ends of the wires by 10-15 mm. We string the next leaf onto one of the ends, starting from the outer hole, and so on - stringing, twisting...

Well, how to form the twig itself is something everyone scatters with their brains, depending on what you want... leave the ends of the wires at least 2 cm. Take the next wire, fold it in half, hook it onto the last leaf and twist it together with the tail from the previous wire, about 2 centimeters -3... The branch becomes thicker, already with 4 wires...) then you form the branches at your discretion, naturally the leaves should be alternated in size and color...

Now we need to come up with the shape of the frame...

For me personally, this turned out to be the most difficult thing... I made it in the shape of a sphere... we must also take into account the fact that this design will also have a light bulb, a chandelier after all... I just made a frame with a hole on top so that the socket would fit through.

For the frame, I took 5 pieces of steel wire, 60-70 cm each. I bent them in a C-shape and inserted them into a ring made of eggplant, leaving a 5-corner hole in the center - I got 10 branches...

Well, now we need to screw the invented branches onto this structure... It’s better to start from the bottom, and then apply it according to the principle of tiles.

For ease of use, the frame had to be hung on a rope - in a lying position, it seemed to me that it was simply impossible to assemble...

The next, important step is the method of attaching this creation to the ceiling. I didn’t bother, hung it on a piece of steel wire and disguised the electrical wire and pendant with the same leaves...

Of course, it looks very good with the lamp on in the evening)))

In every home, as a rule, there is an accumulation of a large number of plastic and glass bottles according to the consumption of various products. This trash is then thrown into the trash. - plastic 5l. bottle;
- plastic 2l. bottles;
- wire;
- stationery knife or scissors;
- transparent glue;
- tweezers;
- candle;
- decorative decoration.

To start with 5l. The bottle neck is carefully cut off.

Then cut off the bottom.

The height of the chandelier can be very varied, it depends on everyone’s preferences.

Their sizes also depend on everyone’s preferences; in this case, the pieces turned out to be on average 3-4 cm. Thanks to the varied color palette of plastic bottles, with the shade of a chandelier, as well as their combination, you can safely experiment...

After the 2-liter plastic bottles have turned into quite a bunch of particles, they need to be given a unique shape using a candle. To do this, take one plastic piece with tweezers and hold it over a burning candle.

As a result of deformation, you will get a nice curved particle.

The bottom edge of the product can also be held slightly over the candle, as a result of which it will also turn out wavy, which looks very nice!

Then, you need to glue the resulting deformed plastic pieces onto the surface of the chandelier. The glue must be transparent! It is applied in stripes on small area chandeliers.

After which, wavy particles are attached to it.

They should be glued quite tightly for a more expressive and “lush” effect. The result is a very beautiful “airy” surface...

And when the lighting is on, they shimmer great!
