Drug addiction is understood as a painful attraction to substances of plant or synthetic origin that affect the central nervous system and cause feelings of euphoria, intoxication, stunning, pain relief, and hallucinations. The word drug addiction comes from the Greek words narke (numbness, sleep) and mania (madness, passion, attraction).
