Polish branch of tanks in World of Tanks. British Tier VI tank destroyer Excalibur

This year we promised to add two new nations to the game. The “Italians” appeared first, and now the time has come for the “Poles”. The thread will start from LT to low levels, will continue with ST at medium and end with heavy tanks at high.

The addition of the Polish nation to the game is logical, given the dedication and bravery of the Polish people during the world wars. In addition, Poland was among the countries that developed their own tank production before the start of World War II.

Low level machines

Early Polish vehicles borrowed a lot from the equipment of the leading tank powers. Their characteristics are similar to those of vehicles of other nations: good mobility, relatively weak armor.

In terms of gameplay, it begins to manifest itself already at the initial levels. distinguishing feature"Poles" - their slightly increased one-time damage compared to their "classmates".

  • 10TP and 14TP

This vehicle is based on the famous Vickers Carden Loyd tank. It weighs just over 4 tons and is driven by an 85 hp engine. With.

British influence continues at level II. Created under the influence of the ideas inherent in the Vickers Mk. E., this machine achieved more than its “younger brother” - and almost 150 units of equipment rolled off the assembly line.

Vehicles at tiers III and IV can be considered as a transitional stage from light tanks to medium ones. A prototype was created for the 10TP and successfully tested in 1938-1939, but due to the outbreak of World War II, work on the vehicle was stopped and the prototype was destroyed.

The 14TP had a similar story: work was suspended in early 1939 because a suitable engine could not be found. As a result, the tank was never assembled due to the outbreak of war in September of that year.

Average levels

Representing a transition to heavy tanks on high levels, Tier V-VII vehicles are very heterogeneous in terms of gameplay and perform several combat roles. It’s easier to imagine average levels like this:

  • Tier V - a hybrid of light and medium tanks;
  • VI level - medium tank with “heavy” armor;
  • VII level - heavy tank, which plays as a hybrid of medium and heavy tanks.
  • 25TP KSUST II
  • 40TP Habicha and 45TP Habicha

The Polish gaming community has been waiting for a long time for this Tier V tank, the concept of which was developed in 1937. This vehicle is a development of low-level Polish equipment with a 75 mm gun and one-time damage of 135 units. Impressive when compared with “classmates”.

We've reached two incarnations of Edward Habich's concepts. Both tanks are the ideas of a talented Polish engineer, in which he combined the best of German and Soviet models of that time. The Soviet influence is noticeable in the sloped armor, and the German influence in the compact turrets and high firepower, which will be a feature of Polish tanks starting from Tier VI.

Please note: when playing a Tier VII transitional vehicle, it is important to be extremely careful in battle, since it has very modest armor.

Top levels

Since high-level Polish vehicles have remained blueprints in the archives, we think this is a great opportunity to show what these tanks would have looked like in metal. Three projects of graduate engineers - these machines would be significantly different from the post-war Soviet technology, which was in service.

You would be mistaken if you thought this car was Soviet based on its size and appearance. Considering that the tank is equipped with a 152 mm gun, you need to shoot extremely wisely. 250 mm of armor penetration is not very much, but with accurate shooting you can deal 750 units of damage at a time. The gun declination angle is very good and amounts to −8 degrees.

This Tier X monster ranks somewhere between the IS-4 and E-100. This is a heavily armored, slow tank that can deal high damage and is ideal for pushing through enemy defenses.

Maxim Chuvalov (World of Tanks product manager) gave an interview to the Polish portal GameZilla, the article was translated for you.

The answers concern the Polish branch of tanks in World of Tanks and some other aspects:

At what stage is the development of Polish tanks in WoT?

We have collected a lot of information about Polish tanks. Wide variety of models. What's holding us back at the moment is the lack of tanks at the top levels.

The low and mid levels are filled, although not all vehicles are unique due to the presence of modified Soviet tanks, but this is not a tragedy. But with our tops serious problem, especially with 10s. That’s actually why we first took up the Swedes – there were no problems with tops there.

I would, of course, like the Polish branch of tanks to be in the game. We will work on it, but what will happen is still unclear. Will Polish tanks be a separate tree in the game, or will they be in a tree made up of vehicles from different nations?

The issue is not closed, work continues. True, we don’t know when it will end and what the final result will be. We don’t want to promise anything, but rest assured we are doing everything in our power.

Not long ago, information surfaced about the second tank of the Polish tree. Let us recall that the first tank of Poland was the Tier 2 tank "TKS 20.A", which the developers showed more than a year ago. Now it has appeared in all its glory premium tank 4 levels CzołgśredniB.B.T.Br.Panc. Having two Polish tanks in our arsenal and the developers’ response that a Polish branch might appear in our game, we decided to create our own tree, relying on our own instincts and information from the forums.

Level I - TKW

In its entire historical concept, it is a wedge, but in many sources it is still positioned as a light tank. An inconspicuous car will fit into the game just right. The armament consists of a 7.92 mm machine gun; there is no point in talking about armor at such low levels, but still numbers are numbers, from 4 to 10 mm. The maximum speed is impressive, 46 km/h with a specific power of 17-18 hp/t. The crew of this unit consisted of 2 people, because it is clear that with a width of 1.8 and a height of 1.3 m, it would be a bit cramped for three people in the car.

Level II - 4TP

Experienced light tank Polish army, was developed before the Second World War. Should have been armed with a 20 mm automatic gun wz.38 FKA . The hull armor reaches 17 mm in the forehead and 13 mm on the sides. The tower had 13 mm all-round armor. The car reached 55 km/h on a flat road and almost the same speed on rough terrain.

Level III - 7TP

7TR is a continuation of work on the creation of tanks of the TR series, and is a kind of twin of the Soviet T-26. According to the Internet, they tried to arm it with six different guns of 40, 47 and 55 mm caliber, but ultimately installed a 37 mm gun Bofors . The turrets were also handled like gloves, since a new turret had to be made for each gun.

It is possible that if, of course, it appears in the game, this unit will have many variations of weapons and installation of towers. The armor is quite small and reaches a maximum of 17 mm. 110 hp engine Saurer will accelerate our Pole to a measly 32 km/h.

Level IV - 10TP

At first glance, it may seem that the tank is similar to the Soviet BT-7, but we assure you, this is not so. The car is practically new and custom development light fast tank with Christie suspension. The maximum speed, as stated in many sources, is 50 km/h. Armed with the same 37mm gun Bofors , which is also on its predecessor, 7TP. For level 4, such a gun will be quite weak. Our armor plates are extremely thin; 20 mm in all projections will catch enemy land mines very well.

Level V - 14TP

Based on archival data about this tank, we can say that it will make a good firefly. 50 km/h on the highway is an excellent indicator for this device. The 14TR in its concept is the same as the 10TR, but historical sources say that the Germans found data claiming that the 10TR tank was planned to be modernized, increasing the wheelbase to 5 load-bearing wheels and strengthening the vehicle’s armor. There was no information about the gun, but information from the Poles indicates the same 37 mm gun as on the 10TR and 7TR. The thickness of the armor in the front of the tank reached 50 mm, on the sides 35, and in the rear 20 mm.

Level VI - 20TP v.2

22 tons of steel and big sizes, it is unlikely that they will give him the title of medium tank, but Internet data says so. The project for the Polish breakthrough tank consisted of several options and sketches, but we liked this one. It was planned to install either a 47 or 75 mm gun on the tank. Many will think that the car will be slow and clumsy, but archival data tells us that the tank was supposed to reach 45 km/h. The front of the hull had armor plates 50-80 mm thick, and 35-40 mm thick on the sides. For level 6, the indicators are not the best, but these are just assumptions.

To this whole tree let's add some information about the newly made Tier 4 Polish tank CzołgśredniB.B.T.Br.Panc, which is already being tested in the supertest.

The machine does not have superparameters for its level and is the simplest ST-4. The gun penetrates 63 mm of armor, causing 50 damage. Reloading will take 4.12 seconds, aiming time will be 1.73 seconds and the shooting accuracy will be 0.36 m/100m.

In terms of dynamics, our premium Pole is also at an average level. The specific power of 26 horses per ton of weight will accelerate the tank to 45 km/h. The turn in place will be carried out at a speed of 36 degrees/sec. We, like all medium tanks of the 4th level, have no armor. 50 mm in the front of the hull and turret is unlikely to save us.

In conclusion, we will say that this branch is absolutely speculative and there is no reliable information about the development of a particular tank from this branch to a certain level. We can only learn more about the tree itself from the developers. Be patient and good luck in your battles!

Wargaming.net has released another update for the multiplayer arcade tank simulator World of Tanks numbered 1.1. The key features of this patch were new maps “Minsk” and “Studzianki”, the second season of personal combat missions, a new combined branch of Polish tanks and the “Battle of the Bloggers” game event.

According to the developers, the Minsk map recreates the center of the capital of Belarus in the early 1970s with unprecedented accuracy. Thanks to the use of photo scanning technology, many small details have been reproduced, for example, bas-reliefs and capitals of building columns. Residents and guests of Minsk can easily recognize the circus, Gorky Park, the Svisloch embankment, the opera house and the architectural ensemble on Victory Square.

“The Minsk card is a way to visit the capital of Belarus without leaving home. If you like Minsk, virtual tour you can continue the real thing by coming on September 9 to the “Tankman’s Day” holiday in Victory Park, which is located beyond the edge of the map,” said Yuri Kuryavyi, operational director of World of Tanks in the CIS.

Personal combat missions The Second Front campaigns were created taking into account the wishes of the players. Completing them will allow “tankers” to earn new awards in battles and receive free unique armored vehicles that cannot be obtained in any other way: British Excalibur tank destroyers and the Chimera medium tank, as well as heavy soviet tank“Object 279 (r)” on four tracks, created to overcome atomic strike zones. Tasks can be completed as part of a team of one of four famous tank bloggers in the CIS region (Amway921, LeBwa, Jove and Yusha), receiving additional points for returning friends to the game. Personal contributions to the “Battle of the Bloggers” are generously rewarded (including in-game gold, team emblems, inscriptions and styles). Returning players will receive additional gifts, and the winners will receive unique chevrons.

The Polish tank line consists of light, medium and heavy tanks from the interwar period and World War II. They differ from their “classmates” in their high one-time damage and thick armor at the upper levels. Vehicles from the fifth level and above are created based on designs from the Polish era People's Republic and were never realized “in metal”.

Along with Polish tanks, the Studzianki map appeared in World of Tanks. The location was created based on the site of a major battle of World War II, in which the Soviet-Polish group defeated the tank divisions of the German corps "Hermann Goering". The map's musical theme is built around the Polish folk song "W moim ogródecku" ("In my garden") performed by the folk rock band Żywiołak.

World of Tanks is expecting some serious reinforcements: two new nations will be added to the game! You've probably heard about Italian cars - they are now available on general test and will appear on the main servers in the next update. But this publication is not about them, but about tank reinforcements from Central Europe.

Today we are talking about Polish tanks and their features. We are also sharing a preliminary list of this equipment and a description of the first premium machine, which was created based on archival projects from Poland.

Historical reference

We have already touched on the topic of the tank history of Poland. We are talking about the German Panther Ausf. G, captured by Polish forces during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. The tank became known under the nickname "Poodle" (in the original Pudel). The rebels painted the car in national colors and applied various emblems to it. It was used in street fighting during the heroic Warsaw Uprising. This vehicle appeared in World of Tanks in August 2017 as VI Pudel .

Since Poland did not focus on developing its own vehicles, the armored forces mainly consisted of foreign equipment. The first to enter service in the Polish army immediately after the First World War was the compact and incredibly successful (at that time) Renault FT tank from France. Later it was joined by British vehicles. And the tanks developed in Poland borrowed a lot from successful projects in Germany, the USSR and the USA. In general, Polish tank building adopted a lot from other countries, and often simply copied their successful solutions.

What do we offer

That is why we did not introduce into the game equipment that was in service with the Polish Army. For the most part, these would be clones of existing machines. Instead, our historians worked with archives from the mid-20th century and found information about some original and unusual Polish projects - drawings developed by Polish designers.

So, the Polish line will consist of ten cars different types: these are light, medium and heavy tanks.

Like other countries, Poland tried to keep up with the leading tank powers. Its tank construction can be divided into three stages:

  1. The pre-war period, when various projects were developed.
  2. The stage of experimentation, when the engineers' ideas were based on real military experience.
  3. The post-war period, when projects were created on the basis of successful post-war models of world powers.

In the branch of Polish cars, this division is very noticeable, since each stage corresponds to a specific type of vehicle:

  • Stage I. At levels I-IV there are early light tanks, which date back to the formation years of Polish tank building. Having borrowed a lot from the British vehicles British Vickers Carden Loyd and Vickers Mk .E, the Polish ones received additional improvements and began their journey with the 4TP light tank, which was located at the 1st level of the branch. Lightly armored, agile and equipped with an automatic cannon, this vehicle, designed to destroy enemy personnel, set the tone for the entire branch of Polish light armored vehicles. The remaining tanks up to Tier IV are a development of the concept of lightly armored mobile vehicles with not the most serious weapons. Most tanks at these levels were in pre-production testing or on the way to prototype production.
  • Stage II. Tier V-VII vehicles. In the game they will be classified as medium tanks. A little more armor, a little bigger gun. Tier V vehicle - a transitional project between light tanks entry levels and what awaits us next. Levels VI and VII - projects of various engineers, created under the influence of German and Soviet schools tank building. Polish designer E. Habich and his team worked on tank designs with rational declination angles and the use of a locked chassis.
  • Stage III. All actually existing tanks of the Polish army of the post-war era are Soviet vehicles that for a long time used with various Polish modifications. Therefore, we turned to the archives and found three diploma projects of graduate engineers of the Military Technical Academy. We will implement their ideas in the game at levels VIII, IX and X. These will be mobile and compact heavy tanks with interesting guns. What is their appeal? In balance between one-time damage and rate of fire.

Debut tank

The Project 51 premium vehicle will appear in the game on the eve of the branch's release. This is a Tier VIII heavy tank with good frontal armor (you will be surprised by the armor of the turret and VLD), impressive one-time damage of 440 units, and a gun depression angle of 8 degrees, which allows you to play from the terrain. The vehicle will perform most effectively at close and medium combat distances. Analogues? You are unlikely to find many direct competitors.

Information about new technology so far, very little, but you can be sure: the branch will contain unusual cars with original gameplay.

We will continue to share more details as we develop and fine-tune the Polish research tree. Follow the news!
