Pencil holder: let's put things in order on the desk. How to make wooden pencils How to make a pencil holder from wood step by step

Wooden pencil holder made of different types of wood.

Making a pencil with your own hands is often quite primitive and easy. Therefore, we will use different types of wood: bamboo plywood and American walnut. Our pencil holder craft includes a drawer that slides out in both directions, as well as a separate slot in which it is convenient to store pencils.

For work we will need:

- Miter saw;
- ;
- band saw and blade;
- ;
- ;
- spray glue;

Let's get to work.

First let's make the body

Step 1: The wooden pencil will consist of 3 layers. One of which must be processed before gluing. More precisely, we need to pre-cut on band saw future container for pencils. We will do this in a walnut block, the dimensions of the edges of which are: 16 x 13 x 4 cm.

Step 2: Take the cut out part and cover it with bamboo blanks using and.

Step 3: Using spray adhesive, attach the template with the marked places for cutting to the front bamboo overlay. You can also transfer the drawing to parts using tracing paper.

Step 4: File our shape on the ribbon

Step 5: And carefully cut out the central part, from the nearest edge. It is advisable to make the cut as straight as possible and along the grain. This will make it easier for us to disguise it.

Now let's take the box.

Step 6: Take our future box and cut off the ends of the wooden cylinder on the ribbon. We pre-clamp it to avoid scrolling and for ease of holding.

Step 7: Next let's focus on the central part. We outline the part to be removed, and
we form the inside of the box.

Step 8: Glue our parts together and secure with clamps.

Returning to the body of the pencil holder

Step 9: In parallel with gluing the box, we glue the gap that appears in the body of the pencil box.

Step 10: Once the glue has dried, we need to sand our parts to remove the marking marks and the glued template, and this will also give them a neat look. And so we grind all the ends and edges to give the surface the proper appearance.

The same operations can be performed simply, by hand or by gluing it to the surface.

Step 11: We overtake our body on c to form a beautiful chamfer.

Step 12: Final sanding

Finishing

Step 13: Process the pieces to add depth to the texture. (the inside can be covered with velvet or flocked)

Step 14: Drill out the handle attachment point

Final step: All that remains is to glue the turned handle to the box and voila, our pencil holder is ready!

Greetings, dear friends! Today I’m in a hurry to come to you to tell you how a pencil holder looks and is made with your own hands. I will show you several master classes and just interesting photo ideas.

A few months ago it was my husband's birthday. In this regard, I decided that in addition to the main gift, I wanted to give him something special, made with my own hands. The choice fell on a pencil holder, since Danil is interested in calligraphy and, accordingly, has a bunch of accessories for this type of creativity.

How to make a pencil holder with your own hands: master class

I'll show you how to make a pencil holder with cute characters from the cartoon "My Neighbor Totoro". In fact, this technology can be used for any type of pencil holder.

To create a pencil holder you will need:

  1. Tin can (from any canned food)
  2. Any fabric of your choice for wrapping the jar (I used fleece and Miki fleece)
  3. Felt for finishing
  4. Threads in the color of the fabric
  5. Scissors
  6. Glue with a thin spout or glue gun
  7. Plastic eyes
  8. A piece of padding polyester

First of all you will need to measure:

  • circumference of the can,
  • can height,
  • bottom diameter.

In accordance with the measurements obtained, cut out 2 pieces of rectangles from the fabric with the parameters: (can height + seam allowance 0.5 cm) x (circumference length + allowance).

For both rectangles, first sew the back seam (using a “back needle” seam or sewing machine) to form a closed surface. Sew the bottom to the rectangle along the contour. Turn one part out and leave the other.

Set the resulting cylinders aside. Now cut out 18 pairs of animal parts from the fabric - in my case, small totori. I don’t provide patterns, since it’s easy to draw the outline yourself - an oval shape with ears))

Sew the paired parts together, you will get 9 animals (don’t forget about the holes for turning them inside out).

In place of the future eyes, draw dots and make crosswise cuts, as in the photo.

Turn the animals inside out and stuff them with padding polyester.

Now add a little glue along the contour into the resulting holes. Be careful - next you will have to insert the eyes into the holes. Insert until the side of the eyes is completely buried in the fur.

Sew up the hole at the bottom.

Ooh, little eye

Cover the jar with padding polyester parts using an over-the-edge seam. This is necessary to prevent the pencil holder from knocking on the table. You can skip this step if you wish.

First, sew the edges of the padding polyester wrapped around the can. Sew the bottom as well.

Pull one of the cylinder parts onto the outside of the can. In my case, it does not reach the top edge a little - a special effect.

I also put a padding pad at the bottom of the pencil holder (I glued it so that it wouldn’t move out).

Place the second (unturned) cylinder inside the stand. If you wish, you can also add a little glue to the bottom to keep the inside in place.

Sew one cylinder to the other with a blind seam.

This is the kind of pencil holder I make)) If you wish, you can stop at this stage or decorate the product according to the description further.

Glue or sew all the animals over the entire surface.

Cut out several leaves from felt and embroider characteristic lines on them using a backstitch. Glue the leaves to the resulting pencil holder. You can also embroider patterns on the bunnies themselves.

We admire the result

From cans

Apple

Very interesting way make a pencil holder - take a jar, liquid acrylic paints, paper, a plate, cord and an artificial petal with a glue gun.

Pour paint into the jar and shake. Drain off any remaining paint and let dry. File edges if necessary. Wrap the carving with cord and decorate with a leaf - voila

Lego guy

The method is identical to the previous one, only at the end you will need to apply a face with a black permanent marker.

Minion

The favorite of all kids, welcome!) Here you will need a tin can and colored EVA polymer (foamed rubber, which can be purchased in the form of plastics in craft stores). By the way, the polymer can be replaced with soft felt.

Cut out all the parts according to the template and wrap the jar with a yellow rectangle. Also glue a rectangle on the inside to hide the metal part. Glue the muzzle and pants. Don't forget about your mouth.

From plastic bottles

Pears

To make these cute pencil holders, you only need a few oblong bottles, scissors, tape, acrylic paints and a photo frame for mounting (optional).

Cut off the thread of the bottle and cut out part of the top, as in the photo. Cover the central part with tape on both sides, leaving an empty space in the middle. Paint the empty space and decorate with the remaining lids, also painted. You can glue it to the frame, or you can leave it as is.

Monsters

This is where a shampoo bottle will come in handy. Cut off the top with the lid, choosing the shape as you wish. Cut out handles from the remaining part. Glue funny faces from felt or paper.

Made from cardboard and paper

Cylinders

The easiest way to make a pencil holder out of cardboard is to use cylinders from clothing rollers, paper towel rolls, or toilet paper. Wrap them in newsprint and glue them together if desired. All

book flower

Very unusual and bright idea. Take an old thick magazine or reference book. Divide all its pages into 5 equal parts. Glue the pencil to the side. Wrap the book around the pencil so that it is in the center and glue it together.

Prime the top with white acrylic paint. Cut out the bottom from thick cardboard, tracing the pencil holder. Glue the bottom.

Made of wood

Or rather, not even from wood, but from wooden pencils. To do this, you just need to glue a few pencils together to form a wall. You will need 4 such walls. Glue a bottom made of thick cardboard at the bottom.

But I described the 10th pencil holder in an article about New Year’s decorations. I highly recommend checking it out, there are a lot of interesting ideas there.

By the way, the minky fleece from which the outer green background of the first pencil holder and the white tots are made was purchased Here. I advise it, since it is very, very difficult to find it in woven fabrics.

Hi all brainiacs! In today's project we are using cutting machine and a router we will make a simple pencil with our own hands. In this way, you will get rid of unnecessary wooden blanks and feel like a real master.

Step 1: Cutting out the pencil blanks

Cut two thin strips of wood from your favorite wood. The size does not matter as we will select the exact size in the final steps of the project.

Step 2: Cutting the Groove

Using a router's v-bit, cut a small groove in each piece. It is needed to hold the pencil lead.

Step 3: Selecting Leads

Drawing leads can be purchased online, such as Amazon.

Step 4: Gluing

Add a large number of wood glue on each half of the workpiece and insert the lead into the groove.

Step 5: Clamping

Pull the resulting workpiece together with a clamp and let it dry for at least one hour.

Step 6: Trim to size

Now cut your pencil to the right size. I took the finished pencil and took the necessary measurements on all sides.

Step 7: Cutting to Length

Cut the pencil to length. See the attached photo of this process.

Step 8: Sanding

Using a block with a glued sandpaper and two pieces of wood joined at a 120° angle, I sanded my pencil at the required angles to create the hexagonal shape.

Step 9: Finish Processing

Optionally add a protective layer of polyurethane to give your pencil an unparalleled appearance.

Step 10: Coloring

Optionally dip the tip of the pencil into white paint to create a decorative coating.

Step 11: Sharpening Your Pencil

Now you can sharpen the finished simple pencil.

Please note that different types of wood require a different approach to making and processing a pencil.

What could be better than a gift or souvenir made by hand from natural material. The most common, affordable and easy to process material is wood. Therefore, today the topic of our article is standmade of woodfor pens and pencils. The stand is a universal thing - you can safely place it at home near the computer or on desk, and in the office. So, let's start manufacturing and move from simple to complex...

Tools that we will need for all types of crafts:

- drill with drill bit from 8 to 10 mm. ,
- a hacksaw for wood (preferably with fine teeth) or a hacksaw for metal for smoother cuts in branched places,
- knife and wood cutters
- skin, Sander or emery.
- screwdriver and screws
- glue, varnish, paints

1 Pencil stand square.

To begin with, the simplest stand, for it we take a piece wooden block, better coniferous species, or other wood with a beautiful vein texture. The size of the bar is 7*7*10 cm (depending on the number of pencils you plan to insert). We saw off, mark, and drill holes (it is better not to make them not through, so as not to stain the table with stylus). Then we sand the surface and varnish it so that the wood does not darken and looks beautiful. The simplest stand for writing instruments is ready.

2 Pencil stand round cut

Next option simplest stand– a stand made of cut wood. We take a tree that is suitable for us in size - the diameter is about 20 cm. We cut off the piece of log we need - the height of the cut is about 10 cm. Next, according to the plan, we mark and drill holes, sand it down so as not to plant a splinter later. The top of the stand can be coated with varnish or paint. In the latter case, you can safely place it on a formal office desk.

3 Pencil stand mushroom tinder fungus

And this is a variation on the theme of sawing. Which uses the tinder fungus.
The mushroom usually grows on rotten birch trees. We cut it off, dry it, and sand the place where it grew on the tree. We saw off a piece of the log and glue a mushroom onto it. In the mushroom we drill the required number of holes for pencils. We decorate the cut to taste. I used acorn caps. If desired, you can also drill holes in the cut or make a recess for an eraser and paper clips.

4 Pencil holder wood

Let's move on to more complex options stands. For the “pencil tree” stand we will need a processed lathe a blank, one and a half pencils high (about 20 cm) and a diameter of 10 cm at the butt to 5 at the top of the tree. You can do without a machine if you work on the block properly with a knife and sandpaper.
In the finished tree trunk under different angles(the ones at the bottom are more blunt, the higher up, the dumber) we drill holes where we will insert pencils. If you have a lathe, you can make wooden tubes. Then drill holes larger diameter in place of some knots and place the tubes there with glue, as shown in the figure. This will look more beautiful and there will be no monotony.

5 Pencil stand stump with mushrooms

In order - we find a log (you can use oak, linden or another deciduous tree with beautiful bark), cut off a stump 10 cm high. Next, from a board with beautiful veins we make a stand, a cover for the stump and several mushrooms (a lathe or the ability to cut out figures will be very useful here made of wood)
We drill in the stump required amount holes for pencils, we drill the same number in the lid of the board for the stump. The lid can be carved in a circle. Parts from the board are carefully sanded and, if necessary, varnished.
We assemble the entire structure using self-tapping screws (stump and stand), wooden cotter pins (lid and mushrooms) and glue.

The photo above shows a variation on the hemp theme, where carved wooden flowers are used for decoration instead of mushrooms.

6 Pencil stand - composition “Forester’s Farm”

And finally, the most complex, but at the same time the most beautiful of the stands, codenamed “Forester’s Farm.”
You can’t do this without the ability to work on a lathe and cut out figures from wood.

In the composition we have:

A forester's house, consisting of a stump 10 cm high, with a cut piece of bark in the form of a window and a roof-bar, sawn diagonally along to form a triangular figure. The house is the most beautiful detail of the composition. The roof is decorated with carvings in the form maple leaf(made separately and glued). Longitudinal grooves, burnt flowers along the roof slopes and applique on it in the form of flowers. The roof and stump are attached to wooden cotter pins, screws and glue.

The next details of the composition are a stylized barrel-stand for pencils, a sheaf and bast shoes are carved from pine. I admit that they were made by a master using special wood cutters based on my sketches. The parts are simply glued to the base.

The cellar with drilled holes for pencils is made of half a hemp, secured to the base with cotter pins and a self-tapping screw on the reverse side.

These are such different, but each wonderful, stands we got.

To maintain order on your home desktop, you need to purchase, or even better, make your own stands for pencils, pens, scissors and other office supplies. A pencil stand will allow you to always keep writing objects at hand, rather than looking for them in the corners of bottomless desk drawers. In addition, you can involve children in making a pencil holder, who will bring something new and interesting to its design. In this review we will show various stands for stationery that you can easily make yourself; all you have to do is choose suitable idea and bring it to life.

1. Pencil stand made from cut wood.

To implement the idea, you need to prepare a low frame of wood, then remove the inner part with a chisel and install pencils inside.

2. Pencil holder made from sewer pipes.

Cut with a jigsaw or hand saw different in diameter sewer pipes into small sections. We glue each of the segments in a row onto a short, thin board (the board, as well as all the pipe segments, can first be spray-painted in shades that match each other).

3. Pencil in a vest.

Cut out a triangular piece of “shirt” from white felt and glue it to a tin of coffee or canned fruit. Then take a layer of gray felt, cut out a rectangle from it along the circumference of the can, in front, cut out a triangle to the size of the pasted white “shirt”, folding the edges and stitching with threads to the collar area. Glue the “vest” onto a tin can, use a blue marker to draw a tie on a white shirt, or cut it out of blue felt.

4. How to make a vintage style pencil holder.

Cover the tin can with pink fabric, then top, bottom and center with a beautiful lace ribbon. On the end part, glue pre-purchased accessories in the form of a flower with pearls (sold in sewing stores).

5. How to decorate a pencil holder with buttons.

Method number 1. We take an ordinary small glass jar of baby puree, then string red and white buttons onto a thin elastic band, tie the ends of the elastic into a knot, and put the resulting composition on the neck of the jar.

Method number 2. Glue buttons of different sizes onto a tin can (the color can also be any), then paint the product from the can in gold or paint it in a brick tone and shade it with gold.

6. DIY pencil stand decorated with twine.

We take a tin can, cover it with a layer of transparent glue, and wrap it around it, tightly joining the threads to each other. Finally, you can stick a bow on the front of the product.

7. Pencil made from tree bark.

Carefully remove the bark from a dry tree and glue it to a glass or metal jar.

8. How to make pencil holders from toilet paper tubes.

We put vertical marks on each tube and cut the fringe along them. We apply PVA glue to each petal of the fringe, and glue all the tubes to a layer of cardboard. Then with a marker we draw faces on the front of the stand.

9. Pencils with decorative primer.

We glue a plain sheet of paper onto a tin can, which we then cover decorative stones.

10. Marine style pencil.

We take several tubes from paper towels, apply them to the base cut out of cardboard. We cover each tube with white napkins, forming large folds (you need to glue the napkins with PVA glue). Then we glue the tubes to a cardboard stand and paint them with water-based blue, yellow and orange paint (you can mix white water-based paint With different colors gouache, in this case it is necessary to mix white with orange, white with blue and white with yellow). Finally, we glue plastic fish, starfish, shells and artificial algae to the stand; all this can be bought at a pet store.

11. Pencil holder made from pencils.

We cut off the sharpened parts of the pencils; you can cut them with a stationery knife or use a jigsaw. We place the bottom row of pencils on the cardboard tightly to each other, and glue each pencil. Then we begin to lay out the walls, place two pencils on the sides and glue them to the base, we also glue pencils in opposite parts, and continue this until the height of the pencil holder satisfies our needs. appearance.

12. Pencil box decorated with burlap.

Glue a piece of burlap onto a tin can, and around the perimeter of the neck glue flowers formed from light linen fabric.

13. Cover the pencil holder with wallpaper or craft paper.

Cut off a piece of wallpaper or craft paper corresponding to the size tin can, the resulting part is simply glued to the jar.

14. Pencil holder in a shirt.

From white felt we cut out a rectangle corresponding to the length of the diameter of the tin can, make a cut of about 2 cm in the center, glue the collar to the can, cut in front, join at the back, bend the collar. Cut a rectangle from an unnecessary shirt and glue it onto the jar on top of the collar. Glue buttons to the front and tie a tiny tie from a matching ribbon.

15. How to make a pencil holder from floppy disks.

In four floppy disks, you need to melt holes with a hot awl, in each floppy disk there are 4 holes (two on the sides and two on the bottom), in the bottom, fifth floppy disk we make 8 holes, the awl needs to be heated over a candle (be careful). Then we form a cube from floppy disks without a top part, we connect all the parts to each other with flexible wire, connecting its ends in the inner part of the product.

16. DIY pencil holder made from a shampoo bottle.

We cut the shampoo bottle in half, but not in the middle, but higher; the cut line can be smooth, round or in the form of cones (this will be the hair of the future monster). We cut out handles from the upper unnecessary part and glue them to the lower part. We glue the mouth of the future monster from black paper, and eyes and teeth from white paper. You can glue Velcro to the back and secure the monster pencil holder to the wall.

17. Vintage style pencil with lace.

We glue satin fabric onto a circle of cardboard and glue lace along the edge of the podium. In the center of the circle we glue paper towel tubes of different lengths. We decorate them with fabric, lace and artificial pearls. Closer to the edge we install a mannequin cut out of cardboard and also decorated with lace, ribbons and beads. We place a figurine of a bird in the center, and on the other edge we place a small photo frame made in suitable style.

18. Pencil from a catalogue.

We divide the flexible catalog into five identical parts, lay it sideways, bend all five parts to the center, in the form of flower petals, gluing them with transparent glue. Apply a layer of glue along the top of the pages so that the pages do not fall apart. Finally, the product can be painted with spray paint and the unflattering parts can be decorated with beads or lace.

19. Decorate a pencil holder with ice cream sticks.

We glue the ice cream sticks onto two strips, then glue the resulting picket fence to a tin can. We complement the product with a wide ribbon tied on the outer part.

20. Decorate a pencil holder with fabric.

We cut out rectangles from thick fabric corresponding to the size of the selected tin can. Then we decorate each piece with machine stitching and contrasting color threads. We sew the cover along the inside, turn it inside out and put it on the jar.

21. Pencil made from a tree trunk.

We saw off a small part from dry wood with a saw, then use a drill to create many holes in the upper part of the stump, into which we install pencils.

Unusual industrial pencil holders.

We also decided to show various factory-made pencil holders, some of them are really impressive. Below you can see what stylish and unusual stands for stationery there are; they come in the form of: camera lenses, monsters, hedgehogs, balls, Rubik's cubes, imitate stacks of folded paper, garbage containers, etc.

Today we showed you how to make a pencil holder, and even more than one! Such beautiful pencil holders will not only bring your workplace in order, and also significantly embellish it. Try making them together with your children; we assure you, the kids will be delighted.
