Gas heat gun for garage - optimal choice in terms of power, efficiency and speed of heating the room. But it is not suitable for use in a room with people constantly present in it - this is a direct heating device.

Combustion products during the heating process will accumulate in the garage, poisoning your body. And constantly ventilating the garage simply “releases” the heat to the street. Heating a garage with a gas gun is unacceptable!

It is convenient to use for quickly warming up a room, but not for constant heating. A power of 10-15 kW will require only 0.5 liters of liquefied gas per hour of operation.

A diesel heat gun for a garage has an “exhaust” pipe, that is, combustion products are discharged outside the garage. It is capable of heating a garage for a long time without harming the person in it.

The easiest to maintain is an electric heat gun. I plugged it into the outlet, pressed the button and forgot - the thermostat will take care of its operating mode (if there is one, of course).

But there are a couple of pitfalls here! Typically, power lines in garage arrays are not highly reliable—they simply may not be able to withstand the load. Especially if there will be a lot of people like you (with guns). You should pay attention to this nuance when choosing.

The second stumbling block is the rather substantial bills for electricity converted into heat, that is, heating the garage with an electric heat gun.

Calculating the power of the “gun”

Knowledge of mathematics (at least from school) will come in handy here! Stop, stop! Higher mathematics is not needed here - read on!

In order for heating a garage with a gas gun to be effective, it is necessary to determine sufficient power to bring and maintain the temperature in the room at the desired “level.” What if the frosts are severe?..

We take into account the following ratio:

0.8 - 1.4 kW gun power ↔ 10 m 2 garage area

and this is with a ceiling height of up to 2.5 m.

For our “average” garage, 3 kW of power will be enough. If the lines allow, then 5 kW is a reserve in case of extreme cold. For those who like to count, we present a more accurate “method” of calculation.

Electric heaters

The simplest heat gun, familiar to everyone today, is a fan heater. For the garage, a “fan heater” of much higher power is used. It should be understood that an electric heat gun for a garage is a “gluttonous little thing”, and devices with a power of over five kilowatts are powered from a three-phase network electric current voltage 380 V.


Heat is produced when electric current passes through a conductor with high electrical resistance located in a tubular protective housing. This system is called heating element.

The fan blows air onto the heating elements and transfers heat into the room.


Functionally similar electric heat guns for garages are not suitable for heating rooms with harsh “climatic” conditions, for example high humidity(saunas, baths...) They are inferior in performance to their gas and diesel counterparts.


And they “eat” a lot of very expensive electricity.

Gas guns

Lightweight and inexpensive heating devices, with a power from 10 kW to 100 kW, but they require you to carry a liquefied gas cylinder with you, which, by the way, also needs to be refilled somewhere.

Despite the small amount of combustible gas (which determines their efficiency), ventilation is required when operating such devices. When connecting a gas gun to the main line natural gas the compliance of all parameters must be taken into account. For example, for a heater with 10 kW of power, a gas pressure of 0.5 bar is required, and an increase in power will “require” an increase in pressure.

The devices are equipped with automatic protective elements (flame control, thermal fuse - protection against overheating).

Diesel heat guns

The essence of the operation of these units is the same as that of gas units. But the fuel is different - diesel fuel. There are fewer maintenance amenities, but there is plenty of quality.


Fuel enters the combustion chamber under “control” fuel pump, which is “commanded” by the installation’s electronic control unit. This installation includes a fuel tank, which increases its mass. Combustion products must be removed from the premises.

Among the advantages: affordable fuel, economical operation (10-15 hours at one gas station), relatively safe fuel. There are direct and indirect heating models.


Indirect heating models use an additional heat exchanger and the combustion chamber is not in contact with the room air. Combustion products exit through the “exhaust” pipe.
