Brita Marella XL water filter – this water cannot be drunk, the water that comes out can be used for cooking

Advantages

Flaws

does not purify drinking water

Details

Previously, when I was looking for a job, I got a job as a consultant on water filters and therefore I know the specifics of how these filters work. I also had this Brita Marella XL filter at home; my mother bought it in the hope that it would sufficiently purify the water. But now, we use this filter when we prepare food or when brewing tea.

To begin with, to determine the quality of the water that comes out of the filter, you can buy a special test. I did this test 1.5 years ago with this filter and the result did not please me. In addition, this filter purifies water only from mechanical impurities and about 30% of other contaminants, which this filter will not allow through. Now imagine what usually happens to some surface where water constantly stands? Do you remember? These are bacteria. You don’t dry the filter after each run of water. Yes, it's certainly convenient and economical option, but not as effective as we would like.

Good afternoon We purchased a Brita filter 2 months ago. It was assumed that due to high cost the quality will be higher. It turns out we were wrong. Cartridges have to be changed once a week. And this is also not a cheap pleasure; it’s also difficult to find replacement ones.

My neighbor has a filter jug of a different brand; a replacement cartridge lasts for a month. Although the jug is cheaper.

We will change it.

Water filter BRITA Aluna XL - not satisfied -

Review

For frequent tea parties at the workplace, we bought a similar jug with our co-workers. At home there is a stationary, three-stage one. If you compare - heaven and earth. This jug doesn't handle chlorine well. Water is often chlorinated and apparently such a quantity of this substance is added that such a simple filter is simply not able to retain all this harmful chemicals. The smell and taste of bleach in the water is obvious. If lighting

good, then even with the naked eye you can actually see the smallest debris in the glass.

We bought a filter recently, we chose a better one. We chose the Brita Aluna filter, German quality after all. Before this there was a regular barrier, it did its job perfectly. But over time, the bowl darkened, even cleaned it looked creepy! Brita Aluna is not expensive, cute. Ours is dark in color and looks good in the kitchen.

There were no additional cartridges in the kit, there was only one, which we immediately inserted. The water is purified really well; at first there is a taste of the purifying substances in the water. Three days later he disappears. The instructions say that the cartridge in the filter needs to be changed once a month; ours has already cost about a month and a half. A new cartridge for it costs 350 rubles; compared to our Russian filters and cartridges, this price is 2 times higher, and they clean no worse. Now I’m thinking of replacing this filter with a proven barrier or any other Russian-made one, I don’t want to overpay just for German quality!

Brita Aluna water filter – review.

Dangerous filter or coincidence???

My husband and I recently bought this filter. Before this there was something simpler. We used the filter for literally a week, drank water without boiling, simply filtered. And suddenly my husband’s temperature rises and stomach problems begin. A couple of days later the same nonsense begins for me. The stomach is simply stuck, food is not digested, weakness, etc. Do you think it's a coincidence??? We couldn’t get food poisoning, since our three-year-old child eats everything we eat, and he’s fine. Of course, he doesn’t drink this water, so we boil it for him. What is the point of this filter then, if after it you still need to boil the water??? It only takes up space in the kitchen. We hid it away, we will restore the stomachs.

Only if you have spring water from your tap!

We bought such a filter jug after a long search, a huge amount of reading various reviews and articles. The choice fell on the Brita company, the reviews were favorable to the purchase. And I was also tired, to be honest, of waiting until they brought a huge bottle, then carrying it ourselves. So We bought a jug at MVideo, where they also sell replacement filters. We brought it home, washed it, ran the water a couple of times, as written in the instructions, and began to wait for tasty water. It came quickly enough

filtered. We poured the prepared water into the kettle, boiled it and began to drink. It tasted great. No smell or taste. Just really tasty water. We didn’t drink it without boiling. We poured it into a bowl.

After a couple of weeks, my husband and I noticed that the gums were bleeding, the stomach periodically reminded itself of itself, and the cat, sorry, began to go to the toilet loosely. At first they didn’t catch the connection. Now, having bought bottled water, everything became fine, neither the gums, nor the stomach, nor cat.

I know that many are sure that they sell us water of dubious purity. I don’t care how it is cleaned - with the same filters or magic words and Maybe they don’t clean it at all - the result is obvious, so to speak. I’m not going to experiment with water anymore, after all, health is more valuable. I hope this review is useful to someone.

Advantages

Counter, which is installed on the Filter cover.

Flaws

Some kind of mucus forms.

They gave me a water filter. I was pleased with the gift. I used it constantly. The first impression was positive. But after some time, he completely abandoned any filter for water purification at home. Why?! I began to notice a greasy coating on the walls of the filter where the purified water was located. I Googled it, read reviews from other users, but they were negative.

Advantages

large volume, cartridge replacement calendar.

Flaws

didn't feel any changes

I thought for a long time about whether such a thing was needed in everyday life. I became pregnant and was advised to drink only filtered water. I chose the most voluminous one. So this is what it turned out, the taste of the water did not change at all.

Perhaps there is bad water in my city, but there was no difference after filtration (for me). Although after the filtration process the inside of the jug became whitish, it is still clear that it performed some kind of function. Perhaps the taste shouldn’t change radically, but I expected more (and this is especially noticeable when pregnant).

But there are advantages - the presence of a calendar, thanks to which you can know exactly when you need to replace the cartridge. And there is always a sufficient amount of filtered water at hand, perhaps for some it will seem absolutely normal. I use it in cooking. I drink as before mineral water without gas. Perhaps you have better quality water in the tap and you will like it.

Advantages

Filters well for the first 2 weeks

Flaws

Details

If we talk about the jug itself, then the jug is like a jug, I don’t see why I should pay that kind of money. Maybe for the sensor that failed after a couple of months? It’s not thought out, it’s designed in such a way that water gets in there and somehow, over time, interferes with setting the required installation date for the new filter. Outwardly, it’s a nice multi-capacity tank, but as far as filtered water is concerned, it still won’t be full.

Now about the Maxtra filter itself, which fits this jug. It cleans the water really well for the first two weeks. We have a private house and its own well with a beautiful clean water, but it contains a lot of iron, we ourselves use it without any filter, but I filter it for the child, since I determined by observation that after boiling the water with a filter, there is no sediment, and without it there is a decent amount of white scum at the bottom.

At first we bought water in bottles, but as the child grew, his need for water grew and this became not a cheap pleasure, so we came to the conclusion that it was worth buying a filter. I spent a long time choosing and settled on good old Brita, who has been known to me, one might say, since my childhood. But Brita also turned out to be not the cheapest pleasure, but it still turns out cheaper than buying water in bottles, and it’s not a fact that the water there is cleaner than we ourselves filter with the same Brita. As I already wrote above, only the child in the family drinks filtered water; in addition, I also cook porridge and vegetables for him in this water.

So, 1 filter is enough for literally 3-4 weeks and this is for one small family member. After a couple of weeks, a small sediment begins to appear after boiling, and the further it goes, the larger it becomes. After a month, the sediment can be compared to unfiltered water. I think that while the child is small, we will use it, and in the future he will stand in the closet and wait for the next member of our family)

General impression: Cleanses well the first two weeks((

They gave us a Brita filter jug, but we ran into a problem when we realized that the consumables need to be changed once every 3 weeks, and they are not cheap + we still need to find them. We did the math and decided that reverse osmosis from a competing company would be more profitable for us.

We used the Brita filter for about 5 years and were satisfied. We accidentally carried out an examination of Brita filtered water and tap water. The water after the Brita filter did not smell of bleach, it was clearer than tap water, but that’s where its advantages ended. In terms of acidity, it remains the same as tap water! Didn't even become semi-alkaline. This is the main indicator of water purification. The filter is very cheap and there are no strict requirements for it, i.e. value for money.

Dear manufacturers, improve the filter even with a rise in price. I would like to drink real filtered, living alkaline water without switching to another manufacturer.

Brita Aluna water filter – review

Only for use with less pure water.

It is reasonable to buy such a filter if you are going to drink tap water, and then it should taste more or less pleasant in its raw form. Then indeed, after passing through the filter, we get clean, crystal and fresh water. However, if the tap water is very chlorinated or has foreign tastes of iron and other elements, the filter is practically powerless. So the water that comes out is clean and nothing

it smells, but the taste remains the same.

Therefore, consider the quality of your tap water when choosing. It cannot cope with strong “pollution”. In general, the filter itself is a good competitor to other analogues, and is also cheaper, which is good news :)

I am very pleased with the water filter. Our whole family has been drinking filtered water for five years now and thank God everything is fine with us. Water from a filter tastes better than boiled water, and is also healthier. The convenient elongated shape allows the jug to take up little space on the table and, thanks to the same shape, the jug is easier to clean than a square one. After using the filter, the scale in the kettle disappeared, which indicates good quality water. Who cares about their health and the health of their family - I think that’s what they did a long time ago right choice and bought a water filter. Be healthy and happy, people!

I recommend it to everyone! very comfortably.

there are no downsides to this thing

They gave it to me. I was very happy to receive such a gift because I never got around to buying it.

Beautiful, mine is red. The design is pleasant to the eye and in everyday use. It also has numbers on the lid where I put the date for changing the filter, this way you won’t forget it. It’s also nice that the spout opens on its own. I saw a kufshin from friends of another company where the spout is not separated from the lid and you have to lift the lid to pour.

It’s easy to care for, especially if you don’t let it loose, and it’s not even a shame to put it on the table when your loved ones come to visit and ask you to drink some water. The frequency of changing the cartridge depends on how contaminated the water in your tap is. I am very pleased with it, especially with the advent of children, at least it’s easier to know that the water is clean for drinking and cooking.

We have been using Brita for probably more than 10 years. We have an old, classic one. We were happy for many years, the four of us lived together, we always used water for tea, soup, compotes, etc. The filter was changed about once a month - the water was clean. If used for more than a month, then with flakes of sediment. But last year or two, sediment began to appear after 10 days. Now my husband and I live alone, we don’t cook much, mostly tea - sediment appears after 3 weeks. It’s not clear: have the filters become so much worse, are they counterfeit (we buy a pack of 3 filters at the Metro store) or has the water become so much worse?

It is no secret now that tap water in big cities leaves much to be desired, so purchasing a water filter was necessary. I purchased a Brita water filter about six months ago in Kharkov, at the Eldorado store. When making a purchase, I came across a large assortment of water filters from various manufacturers, and Brite was my preference.

Brita water filters purify water from harmful substances, give her pleasant taste and smell. Thanks to this, water does not leave scale when boiling. household items. Dishes prepared with purified water retain vitamins and have a natural taste. I was attracted to this filter model because it has a special time indicator, which allows for timely replacement of the cartridge.

The filter is very convenient to use due to the hinged lid for filling with water. I use filtered water not only in the kitchen, but also for irrigation. indoor plants, in an iron for steaming things. I also place cut flowers in filtered water, so they retain their original appearance longer. But the most important thing is that clean drinking water is the key to good health.

I always drank water from the tap, despite the fact that I was constantly scolded for it. I never even thought about buying a water filter. When my daughter appeared, I thought about what would be healthier for her. The choice of water filter was quite large, but I was inclined

specifically to the jug. And there were several of them. I admit, we bought the BRITA filter only because there was a promotion. Along with the filter, three more replacement blocks came as a gift. And he pleasantly surprised me. The water from it was so tasty and clean that I finally (to the joy of all my family) got rid of bad habit. The water in it is quickly and efficiently purified and you will never forget when to change the cartridge. After all, you can put a date on the lid to remind you of this. I was satisfied.

Review:

Brita water filter - Clean water - your health comes first

Advantages:

clean, tasty water

Flaws:

It is difficult to find a replacement Maxtra cartridge on sale.

I have been using the Brita water filter for five years now. The quality of water after filtration is quite satisfactory. In my opinion, the taste of the water even changes. The cleaning agent here is graphite. There is an indicator on the cover that will tell you when to change the filter element.

The quality of tap water is not very good now, but everyone is solving this problem as best they can. In my opinion, using the Britao water filter is convenient and effective; you just need to change the cartridges on time. But it’s only possible to purchase a cartridge in our city in one large store, where the filter itself was actually purchased.

Year of manufacture/purchase: 2012

General impression: Clean water - first of all, your health

Now the water is perfectly clean

Review:

Now the city has problems with water because it has become terribly dirty. We always boil water and never use raw water. When boiling on the kettle, a lot of stains remain and a precipitate forms; we no longer knew how to get rid of it; we settled the water and boiled it a hundred times, but there was no sense in it.

Then we decided to buy a water filter. Once a conversation started about filters with an acquaintance and he said that he had a Brita Maxtra filter installed at home. Well, my family and I decided to wander through it.

The filter turned out to be really good. After we got it, the water at home is always clean, there is no precipitation or stains, and it tastes wonderful. The filter has been purifying water for two months now and we haven’t changed it yet.

Review:

The brita filter came in handy for me

Advantages: quality, convenient, design, cleaning

Flaws: No

Hello dear readers!

I want to tell you about the Brita filter.

I bought this filter only because I am not satisfied with the quality of the tap water, like many, of course.

It itself is very interesting and very easy to use.

The packaging explains everything beautifully about the filter and the pictures also attract attention.

The filter itself consists of a bowl where the water is located, the bowl itself into which you need to pour water, a lid and a timer in order to set the date when you installed the filter so as not to forget about it.

The water container is designed for 3.5 liters and this is not small for one time.

Another advantage is that you don’t even have to open the lid, because there are two holes through which you can pour water for filtration on one side, and in front you can open it to pour already purified water where you need it.

Where you can set the date is very necessary so that I don’t forget when I did it, so that later I can change the filter cassette during the process.

The bowl itself is where water is poured so that later it can be cleaned very well. large sizes and you can immediately filter 2 liters of water, and then pour in the rest.

Another plus is that the water also clears quite quickly if you fill it up. For example, I poured 1 liter of water and timed how long it would drain and it turned out that it was only 3 minutes, and this despite the fact that I changed the cassette 3 weeks ago. Of course, when two months have already passed, the process of water purification slows down a little, but this is not so scary.

Since our water is not very good, when it is purified it becomes tasty and you can just drink it and you won’t hear any aftertaste.

As it was written in the instructions, you need to change the cassette at least every month, but it seems to me that this is too often and when two months have passed, the water also remains clean and then I still change the cassette.

By the way, in the instructions everything is written very clearly, although there is nothing special to understand and everything is clear.

The cassette attaches very well and is easy to remove to change it. And also the bowl itself holds very tightly and when I pour water, it cannot fall forward.

Washing it after this is quite simple and easy and you just need to rinse it well under running water and put all the parts back.

You can also wash all parts in dishwasher, but of course except for the cassette.

I wish everyone good luck!

We have been using the Brita Marella XL filter jug for almost 3 years.

The main advantage of Brita filter jugs is the taste and quality of water. In my opinion, the resulting water tastes better than that of competitors. Before Brita, I used Aquaphor and Barrier jugs. The point here, of course, is not the filter jug itself, but the filtration technology. This pitcher uses a Brita Maxtra cartridge. It is advisable to change the cartridge once every month and a half, otherwise the water becomes tasteless.

The main advantage of the Brita Marella XL jug is its large volume, designed for 3.5 liters of water.

I only used the cartridge replacement calendar for the first time. In my opinion, it is not very convenient, since you need to manually set the date.

I wouldn't say that the body and grip of the jug are very comfortable. The handle and body of the jug are plastic and quite slippery. The dimensions of the jug are not the most compact. The main problem with Brita filters is the spout - it often falls off and eventually breaks.

This jug also has one more “jamb” - when the filter is tilted, the funnel and the lid fall out.

Towards the end of use, the filter began to look completely unpresentable and its spout broke. The walls of the jug were no longer transparent, although we washed it several times. I think we would have continued to use it if it weren’t for the problem with the spout and the deteriorated appearance.

I've been using Brita for ten years now. Not only do I drink water, but so does my eldest son. I only use it for drinking and tea. For cooking regular from the tap. I don’t notice any bad results on myself.

I change the cartridge once every 6-8 weeks, but we also have water Wasserhärte2. In BV, relatives change after 3-4 weeks. Otherwise, sand will appear in the kettle. I'm completely satisfied with Brita and I'm not going to give her up

I have been using BRITA filters for a long time. At first there was one smaller blue one, then we bought this one. Everything suits me.

Advantages: Performs its functions

Flaws: -

delicious water!

Nowadays, the quality of tap water leaves much to be desired. The water smells like chlorine, any water filters are better. and in the boiled water a film floats on top. just awful. and with this water we prepare food for the children! We bought bottled water, but came to the conclusion that a filter jug would be cheaper. There are many similar filters now, but as far as I remember, Brita was one of the first to appear on our shelves. decided that after so many years, they had managed to prove themselves with the best side. All that remained was to choose a model. chose Aluna. very happy with the purchase. We change the filter every month; the calendar on the lid helps keep track. Now the water has become pleasant to drink.

Review: Brita water filter - Years go by, and the best filter is Brita!

Advantages:

Pure water, affordable price, beautiful jugs, there are often promotions

Flaws:

There are no cons for me

A small introduction. I'm 24 and I don't remember a time when we didn't have a filter in our kitchen. Seriously. My parents bought the filter in such distant times that people who came to visit were constantly surprised and asked what it was. Unfortunately, such people continue to meet today. But I won’t discuss the fact that you can’t drink tap water and the difference between filtered water and tap water. This review is for those who understand that water should be purified.

In general, the Brita filter was the choice of my parents and now my husband and I also prefer this filter.

We've had a ton of pitchers over the years. Different colors, different sizes, With in different ways filling with water and all types of "timer". You won’t remember everything anymore)

But the most practical, oddly enough, are those that are the simplest, without any electronic timer, with the simplest removable lid. The problem is still in the cartridge, and it is the same for all Brita jugs.

We also give preference to a simple jug, which is most often available during the “buy 3 cartridges and get a filter as a gift” promotion. As soon as we see such a promotion, we definitely buy it. Cartridges are still a constantly needed consumable, but here you can also replace the jug itself for free. The jug is plastic, so over time it still loses its original shine, no matter how you wash it. For example, I wash the outside filter once a week, because it is in the kitchen and grease gradually settles on it. And promotions, where for the purchase of 2-3 cartridges at the same time you get a jug as a gift, are held quite often. At least in the stores of our city this is an almost regular occurrence.

There are 2 people in the family and we change the cartridge every 2 months. But in general, I go by the condition of the kettle: as long as there is no scale in it, the cartridge filters normally. If scale appears in the kettle in less than a week, the cartridge must be changed urgently.

We didn’t buy jugs from other brands, but we tried replacement cartridges. They filter in the same way as Brita, but they only lasted for a month at most, or even less. Therefore, we experimented a couple of times, but returned to Brit. I disagree about the fact that these are some of the most expensive filters. Yes, the cartridge itself is more expensive than many competitors, but it also lasts longer.

We also bought a filter for our office work, although we previously ordered water in 19 liter bottles. So, as our office kettle showed, the water in these bottles is different every time. Large companies They are also sometimes too lazy (or unscrupulously saving money) to change filters on time.

The same applies to water in 5 liter bottles and even that on which it is written “allowed for children without boiling”. Maybe it’s possible, everyone decides for themselves, but I don’t drink this kind of water anymore.

Use time: more than 14 years

General impression: Years go by, but the best filter is Brita!

BRITA® Meter: the first cartridge replacement indicator with 3-dimensional measurement of the most important factors for optimal cartridge performance

BRITA MAXTRA cartridge: when should it be replaced?

To provide best results cleaning, the filter cartridge should be replaced at least every four weeks. An electronic Memo indicator or a mechanical timer will remind you of the date of cartridge replacement.
Please keep in mind that cartridge life depends on local water quality.
All replacement cartridges should be stored in the original sealed packaging in a cool, dry place.

MAXTRA 4-stage filtration

The BRITA MAXTRA cartridge reduces the content of substances in water such as chlorine, aluminum, heavy metals (lead and copper), some pesticides and organic impurities. Thanks to this, you can enjoy clean, clear water with a wonderful taste, which is great for preparing both hot and cold drinks and various dishes.

Mechanical timer

The BRITA mechanical timer serves as a reminder to replace the cartridge in a timely manner.
Using the timer, you can set the date for the next replacement of the filter cartridge.
Setting the date on the timer is done using two dials. Rotate the left dial to set the day, and the right dial to set the month.
Note: Not all dates of the month are shown on the left disc of the timer. If there is no due date for replacing the filter cartridge, simply set the next closest date.

Electronic cartridge resource indicator “Memo”

To ensure optimal performance, the cassette must be replaced regularly. The BRITA "MEMO" cassette life indicator installed on filters is the world's first electronic cassette life indicator. The resource of the cassette is counted using convenient buttons. If the MEMO display flickers, the cassette needs to be replaced.

Preparing a new cartridge for use

Now filtering water has become even more convenient: the Maxtra cassette is easily installed on all new BRITA pitcher filters! Simply place it in the funnel and press until you hear a slight click. A handle with a pull ring located on top of the Maxtra cassette and a base with an anti-slip insert make the replacement process easier. Maxtra cassettes do not require pre-wetting, so there is no longer any need to prepare them by immersing them in water.

Questions about BRITA filter cartridges

Is the contents of the cartridge safe?

Yes. The contents of all BRITA cartridges are suitable for contact with food and are completely harmless, even if accidentally swallowed.

There are black particles in the water after purification. What it is?

This is simply activated carbon from a BRITA filter. Granular activated carbon is made from coconut shells. Like anyone else natural product, the quality of coconut shells can naturally vary. This can cause carbon particles to break off and leak into the water from the filter. Preparing the cartridge as described in the product manual may help eliminate carbon dust.

Do BRITA filter cartridges have an expiration date?

Under proper conditions, BRITA cartridges can be stored for several years. Proper conditions mean storage at a temperature between 1 °C and 50 °C, without exposure to direct sun rays and warmth. The cartridge must remain sealed in its original packaging.

How long can a BRITA MicroDisc cartridge be used?

IN general case For optimal effectiveness, the MicroDisc should be replaced every four weeks. Many BRITA products come with a convenient electronic indicator that tracks filter life and tells you when it needs to be replaced.

How long can a MAXTRA+ cartridge be used?

To enjoy high quality water from a BRITA filter, replace the filter cartridge regularly.

The life of the filter cartridge depends on the quality of the local water. If the carbonate hardness of tap water is 10–12°F, the filter cartridge should be replaced after 100 liters of water. If the water is harder or the water consumption is higher, the life of the cartridge will be reduced accordingly.

The cartridge should be replaced at least once every four weeks.

How to prepare a BRITA water filter cartridge for use?

BRITA MAXTRA+ and BRITA MicroDisc filters are designed for quick and easy installation.

BRITA MAXTRA+ cartridge

Simply fill the jug with water. Place the BRITA MAXTRA+ cartridge in cold water and shake lightly to remove any air bubbles. Insert the cartridge into the funnel of the jug and pass the water through the filter twice. Drain the first two liters of water. The BRITA filter cartridge is now ready for use.

Before using the MicroDisc filter disc for the first time, place it under running water and rub it lightly with your fingers on both sides for 30 seconds. This will remove any coal dust that may be present on it.

How do MicroDisc filters work? What are they made of?

The new BRITA MicroDisc filter uses ActivSelect technology, which effectively reduces taste-impairing substances while allowing beneficial minerals to pass through. Each MicroDisc is made from natural coconut shell charcoal and has millions of tiny pores. These pores trap and block unwanted elements. The result is more fresh water with the best taste.

How to recycle BRITA and MicroDisc cartridges?

You can dispose of used cartridges and MicroDiscs as normal waste.

How does the MAXTRA+ cartridge work? What's inside the cartridge?

The MAXTRA+ filter cartridge's filter media contains a blend of ion exchange resin and activated carbon that has been tested for food contact. The ion exchange resin used reduces carbonate hardness (lime scale) and the presence of metals such as copper and lead that can leach into water from water supplies. Activated carbon reduces the content of substances that can worsen the taste of water, such as chlorine and its compounds.

What are the advantages of BRITA water filter cartridges?

All BRITA filter cartridges provide high filtration efficiency, significantly reducing the amount of substances that negatively affect the taste and odor of water, such as chlorine. In addition, BRITA filter cartridges are easy to install, configure and store.

BRITA MAXTRA+ cartridge

The innovative BRITA MAXTRA+ cartridge works for up to eight weeks, providing up to 300 liters of freshly purified water. The ion exchange resin it contains reduces both carbonate hardness (which leads to scale formation) and the content of metals such as copper and lead. Activated carbon reduces the content of substances that can worsen the taste of water, such as chlorine and its compounds.

Compact and powerful, the BRITA MicroDisc purifies up to 150 liters of water and lasts up to four weeks of use. Filtration technology prevents unwanted substances that affect the taste of water, such as chlorine, but retains minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

The inside of the cartridge is damp. What should I do?

Don't worry, this is completely normal. Humidity and dryness do not affect the operation of the cartridge.

Do BRITA cartridges remove fluoride?

No. BRITA cartridges are not designed to remove fluoride. A certain amount of fluoride is present in tap water either naturally or when it is added to water by some water companies. If you are concerned about the presence of fluoride in your tap water, contact your water supplier for information.

What happens when the cartridge runs out of life? Can foreign matter get back into the water?

As soon as the BRITA cartridge uses up its resource, it simply stops filtering water. Foreign impurities will not get back into the purified water.

What are the benefits of BRITA filter water?

Tap water is strictly regulated and controlled, but may contain substances that affect its taste and appearance. The BRITA tap water filter helps reduce:

  • carbonate hardness (content of calcium and magnesium ions) and scale formation,
  • content of free and combined chlorine (if available),
  • lead and copper content.

BRITA filter water provides you and your family with the ideal base for flavorful hot drinks such as coffee and tea. It is ideal for cooking and effectively protects household appliances from scale formation.

Temporary hardness affects the taste of food and drinks prepared with hot water. In addition, it causes scale formation in household appliances that heat water, such as kettles, steam irons, coffee makers and washing machines.

By reducing the temporary hardness of water, BRITA filter cartridges reduce the amount of substances that impair taste and odor, and also reduce the formation of limescale. The result is tasty water for hot drinks and dishes, and less scale accumulates on household appliances. How hard is your water? To find out, order a free hardness test strip.

There are plenty of filter manufacturers on the market today. The consumer makes his choice every day, but how not to be deceived, who to trust with your water resource? One of the most advanced, popular manufacturing companies in the global space is Brita. Brita filters compete with. Brita filters are trusted by millions of citizens around the world. This is real german sign quality!

The convenience of small filters

The German manufacturer specializes in cartridge filters. Most of all, he uses the following types of filtering devices.

This company does not produce reverse osmosis filters or specialized iron removers. Their task is to make water tastier, softer and cleaner in terms of mechanical impurities. The regular filter jug is the main brand of this company. With all this, this type of filtering devices has many competitors. What caused this?

How does a filter jug work? Firstly, such a device is considered a reagent. Although it does not add harmful substances to the water. A reaction simply occurs as water flows through the cationic filter. Hardness salts, like a magnet, are attracted to the cationic resin, which in turn releases sodium ions into the water, making it useful. This is how a mutually beneficial exchange occurs. The water turns out soft and healthy, and all the lime salts in the right quantity remain inside the cartridge. Moreover, you can bring the calcareous state to the desired level, because you can pass water through such a cartridge more than once.

But on the other hand, problems arise. You can't keep leaching sodium out of a depleting cartridge forever. Therefore, over time, such a cartridge will have to be changed. And this part of the filter is the most expensive. At high degree Due to limescale, such a cartridge is completely washed out within three or four months. And it needs to be changed. This is the disadvantage of this device. Using such a filter jug as the main cleaner is too expensive. That’s why it is recommended to use it exclusively as a drinking filter, the volume of which is sufficient to avoid buying purified bottled water.

Brita water filters Today, they are presented on the market not only with jugs. They produce replacement cartridges for their jugs, new to the market is the filter bottle. The manufacturing company positions this type of filter bottle as an opportunity to take a mini-filter with you on a run or a walk, and a person will always have clean and soft water at hand.

What does it consist of? this device, what are its advantages and disadvantages? The basis of this device is a small carbon filter. It is suitable for purifying tap water. But it is still impossible to say that such a filter will help make the water soft. It all depends on the level of limescale poured into the water bottle. This filter bottle is a gadget that allows you to always drink clean water without spending money on water from trays, stalls and stores. When using such a filter, the cost of water is less than 5 rubles per liter.

This bottle has a special fixing cap where a special tube is fixed from which you can drink water. In the bottle cap itself there is a replaceable tablet with a carbon filter. It is eco-friendly and fashion accessory. It’s not for nothing that designers spent so much time also appearance such a bottle. Brita water filters are German quality that has not changed since 1966 .

The manufacturer has always cared and continues to care about the convenience of the consumer. That’s why even a simple filter jug is specially equipped with an electronic indicator, which always lets the consumer know that it’s time to change the cartridge.

In addition, unusual filters are produced design solution. Unique technology Brita marella not only softens water qualitatively, but also removes copper and other metal salts from it. Many jugs from this manufacturer are sold immediately with one replaceable cartridge. It is better to buy such cartridges from official dealers or order through the online store from the manufacturer itself.

Features of the Brita maxtra and Brita marella filters

Not once has a consumer asked the simplest question - how long will it take a purifying device to purify one unfortunate liter of water? After all, everything happens in cationic plants naturally, without the use of electricity. The Brita marella water filter is able to provide the consumer with a liter clean water in just one and a half two minutes. Enough high speed and you won’t have to wait long.

Of course, over time, this time period will be approximately six minutes. But in the future, according to the manufacturer’s recommendation, you should constantly keep the cartridge wet, in water. This will make it possible to constantly have about one and a half liters of softened, purified water at your disposal.

The second question asked by consumers is how long does one cleaning device last? Brita maxtra. The first factor that influences this time is the degree of lime in the water. The higher it is, the sooner the cartridge will be washed. With a calcification level of at least fifteen degrees, the cartridge is enough for only 100 liters of water. In Moscow, water has a calcareous content of 10-12, in which case the cartridge will last for about a month and a half.

Thus, a family of 3-4 people can easily organize up to five liters of soft and clean water per day. This is to optimally use the cationic resource. Without loss of water quality, sometimes it is possible to purify up to 10 liters of water per day. But constant use of the filter in this mode can lead to a loss of cleaning quality. Because will be the first to wash up top part cation filter.

How can you tell from a Brita water filter that the cartridge's life has expired? You can navigate by:

  • Tea dough;
  • Electronic indicator.

If the consumer likes to drink tea, then tea with ordinary water will immediately give bad water. A film very quickly forms on the surface of the tea, shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow. After it, characteristic marks remain on the walls. When working with soft water there will be no such sediment. So, if a film appears, the cartridge needs to be changed urgently. The second feature and advantage of cartridge wear is long term water purification. The longer the water is purified, the more dirty the filter is.

Why must the Brita maxtra and Brita marella filter cartridge always be wet? The reason is simple. Wet resin cleans water much more effectively. Even if there has been no liquid in it for a long time, you should first keep it in water for about twenty minutes, and only then put it into operation. Moreover, it is better not to drink the first two portions of purified water, but to drain it into the sink.

Some consumers really like to collect everything for future use. How effective is it to store a cartridge in its packaging or is it better to buy it immediately before installation? Will the cartridge become stale after, for example, a year without use? The manufacturer announces the shelf life of a cartridge in original, untouched packaging at 4 years. True, due to the fact that the cartridge for a long time was out of work, it should first be soaked for about an hour in water. And then drain a couple of the first cleaned portions and do not use them.

If the consumer goes on vacation, then the cartridge should be taken out, wrapped in a bag and put in the refrigerator. Upon return, you need to soak the cartridge again and run a couple of portions of water through it. The Brita maxtra and Brita marella bottle filter have one big drawback. It doesn't work with hot water. Only cold water can be poured here. Cartridges for drinking water are not restored, but replaced.

Since polymers and glass are used in the production of cartridges, the filters can be washed in the dishwasher. Only the filter cover, where the electric indicator is located, cannot be washed in the dishwasher. In any case, the consumer should carefully read the instructions for the device.

How long does it take to filter 1 liter of water?

The filtering time for 1 liter of water on a new cartridge is 1.5–2 minutes. Then, as the cartridge becomes dirty, this time increases to 5-6 minutes.

But since the company recommends that the filter cartridge be constantly at least partially immersed in water (and to do this, immediately after emptying the filter mug, fill its funnel with water), depending on the model of your filter, you will always have at hand from 1. 3 to 4.5 liters of clean water.

How much clean water can you get with one branded Brita filter cartridge?

The amount of water purified by the cartridge (its resource) depends on the quality (temporary hardness value) of your tap water. The higher the rigidity, the lower the resource, and vice versa.
So for water, in which this value is equal to 15° German hardness, the cartridge resource is 100 liters. In Moscow, for example, the water is softer, and the cartridge life is already 150–160 liters. This allows a family of 3-4 people to use one cartridge for about 1.5 months.

How many liters of water can you filter in one day?

The company believes that 5–10 liters of water per day are optimally purified. This ensures complete restoration of the chemical equilibrium of the ion exchanger, since upon contact with water, active groups located on the surface of its granules react, and their concentration in this area becomes lower than inside the granules. However, in some cases (that is, not every day), you can receive more than 10 liters of purified water without significantly deteriorating its quality.

How can you find out when a cartridge has reached the end of its life?

The easiest way to notice this is when preparing tea (the so-called “tea test”). By brewing tea using regular (not purified) tap water, you will get a slightly cloudy drink with a bitter aftertaste. In addition, on its surface you will definitely notice the presence of an oily film with a metallic tint, which then settles on the walls of the cup in the form of a brown coating.
Using Brita water, you will get a more aromatic, bitter-free, perfectly clear drink without any film on the surface or walls of the teaware. And the very fact that traces of such a film appear on the surface of tea brewed with Brita water will be evidence that the cartridge’s life is close to exhaustion, and you should think about replacing it.
In addition, an indirect indicator of the need to replace a cartridge can be its operating time, which you can track using a mechanical calendar or an electronic Memo indicator that is equipped with your filter model.

Should the Brita cartridge always be in contact with water, and what happens if it ever dries out?

It is advisable that the cartridge is always in contact with water, that is, always wet. In this case, the ion exchange resin is guaranteed to provide high quality water purification.
Dried resin has significantly lower cleaning ability. Therefore, if the cartridge has dried out for any reason, it must be soaked again in cold water for 15–20 minutes, installed in the filter, one portion of water passed through it, which then poured into the sink (i.e. you need to repeat all those operations that you did when preparing the new cartridge for use). After this, the cartridge will be ready for use again.

How long can a Brita replacement cartridge be stored in its original packaging?

The guaranteed shelf life of the cartridge in its original packaging is 4 years. Therefore, for example, after 2 years of storage the cartridge is fully functional.
The only thing that needs to be done in this case is to increase the pre-soaking time to 1 hour. In addition, to eliminate traces of coal dust in the filtrate, you may have to pass not 1-2, but 3-4 portions of water through this cartridge.

How to save a used cartridge if you need to leave home for a while - for example, on vacation for a month?

In this case, it is best to remove the cartridge from the filter and put it in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. Returning from vacation, take the cartridge from the refrigerator, soak it in cold water for 15 minutes, insert into the washed filter, pass 1-2 portions of water through it, then use the filter in the same way as you did before.

Can a Brita filter be used to filter hot water?

It is forbidden! Hot water will disrupt the operating conditions of the ion exchanger and may adversely affect the properties of the cartridge.

Is it possible to restore the functionality of a Brita cartridge?

It is forbidden! An exhausted cartridge must be replaced with a new one.

Can the filter parts be washed in the dishwasher?

Brita uses materials (polymers and glass) that allow this possibility for the manufacture of its products. The only exceptions are individual parts Some filter models, for example, have covers with electronic Memo indicators. They cannot be washed in the dishwasher. The operating instructions for such models must contain relevant information about this.

It is better not to wash all previously released models of Brita filters with plastic mugs in the dishwasher, but to do it manually under running lukewarm water using mild detergents that do not contain abrasive particles.
