Is regular cardboard suitable for furniture production? Is it possible to make high-quality chairs, stools, tables, bedside tables and other elements from it, without which it is difficult to imagine a modern home?
On the one hand, everyone knows that cardboard is not a very mechanically stable material, so rarely does anyone imagine that furniture made from it will be strong and reliable.
But this is a fact; cardboard can be used to make not only cabinets and beds for dolls, but also chairs that can easily support the weight of an adult.
Such interior items will last a long time, they are environmentally safe. But the main advantage is different: anyone can create furniture from cardboard, realizing their wildest fantasies.
Ideas
A careful look around will help you determine where cardboard furniture is most suitable. The smartest place to start is in the children's room.
Sets of children's furniture, both for games and for normal use, are produced by many companies, which means everything can be reproduced independently.
Tables, chairs, ottomans and stools are made from cardboard for children. A toy castle, in which a child can fit freely and can play in it, suggests itself.
The same can be said about numerous shelves, bookcases, racks, chests of drawers, and toy boxes.
If you move from the nursery to the living room, the first thing that will catch your eye is dinner table with chairs. All this is made from cardboard, and it turns out beautiful, even fashionable. You just need to use the right assembly methods and select the right materials.

Even novice self-taught furniture makers can make racks or cabinets for dishes. What can we say about small items?
A variety of drawers, shelves, organizers and other elements that are found in abundance in every room can be assembled from corrugated or single-layer cardboard, giving them a stunning appearance.
With some practice, you can produce real masterpieces of furniture art from cardboard. It is enough to get acquainted with the activities experienced craftsmen to see how complex, multifunctional and unexpectedly original products made from seemingly ordinary paper can be.
From small items to office kits
Cardboard, as a material for furniture production, is rapidly becoming fashionable. Entire trends in such furniture art are being created, each of the companies operating in this market works in its own style.
It’s easy to order almost everything, from original lamp For desk, right up to the table and even to bulky furniture for books, documents and clothes.
It should not be surprising that cardboard is able to withstand mechanical loads. Paper, as everyone knows, is made from cellulose, which, in turn, forms the basis of wood.
And everyone knows the strength of wood and the broadest opportunities its application. Therefore, to ensure the strength of cardboard products, it is enough to assemble them properly. Moreover, there is a lot of cardboard on the market specifically designed for these purposes, as well as different types glue, paint and other finishing materials.
On the street, like at home
Owners of cafes and restaurants have recently been actively using cardboard chairs and tables as furniture for summer areas.
This is an extremely reasonable decision. Cheap, beautiful, and even with the prospect of trouble-free disposal, if the need arises.
Naturally, cardboard furniture does not withstand exposure to water well, but saving it from rain is not so difficult by placing it under awnings.
How and from what to make cardboard furniture yourself?
Corrugated cardboard is used to make furniture. This is a product that consists of alternating layers of smooth and wavy paper glued together. At the bottom and top of this cardboard there is plain paper. Its strength depends on the quality of the paper and the number of layers (from one layer or more, usually up to seven).
Which corrugated cardboard to choose for certain furniture? The less load, the fewer layers. For a lampshade, a single-layer one is quite suitable, for bookcase– five-layer is preferable.
It should be remembered that cardboard has a front side and a back side. White products are considered to be of higher quality, light brown - less, although this rule does not always work.
Set of tools and accessories
To fully work with cardboard, you should stock up on:
- scissors of various sizes;
- office knives and/or medical scalpels;
- metal (plastic will not work) rulers, from 30 cm to 100 cm;
- a special self-healing cutting mat, or simply a sheet of plywood of a suitable size;
- simple pencils;
- awl;
- hot melt glue and a special gun for it, PVA glue, Moment glue and other types of glue;
- brushes for applying glue;
- sandpaper;
- damp sponge;
- varnish for interior work
- gloves to protect your hands.
Naturally, cardboard is needed, but it must be selected in accordance with the requirements of each individual project.
You should be prepared to purchase additional tools, supplies and accessories, since it is simply impossible to take everything into account at the stage of organizing the process.
Where to start?
You should start with organizing your workplace. Normal lighting will be required, several square meters on the floor (there may be a separate table), shelves for tools and accessories.
As for projects, you should start with simple things in order to gain experience and get a feel for the material. Then, after the technique has been perfected, you can begin complex projects.
Photo of cardboard furniture in the interior
Cardboard furniture is a great alternative if you can’t afford regular furniture! Tables, chairs and sofas can be made from cardboard with your own hands!
Such an ordinary thing as cardboard, which we often throw away without thinking with the rest of the garbage, can turn out to be an excellent material for building good furniture. Of course, you can assume that such interior items will be fragile and will easily bend under the weight of objects placed on it, but this can and should be avoided by properly processing the cardboard.
Such furniture has a lot of positive advantages:
- Stylish design. You can design any thing for your home, based only on your taste or the preferences of your family;
- Economy. Spend very little money to buy necessary tools, and you won’t have to spend money on delivery/installation;
- Mobility. With lightweight, immediately foldable furniture, moving will not be your nightmare - you will only have the joy of packing things for your new life;
- Ergonomics. There is no need to walk around an endless store in search of “that very thing” that will simultaneously appeal to you, fit into the interior and be comfortable - from now on you can combine these three qualities;
- Safety. There are absolutely no harmful or dangerous elements in cardboard furniture - after all, you make furniture from boxes with your own hands, which means you check and see all the components;
- Environmental friendliness. The furniture has lost its former appearance and attractiveness, or you decide to change the design - just take it apart and put it in a bag. You can throw it away without worrying, or you can use it to light a fire for barbecue - cardboard will not harm the environment in any way!
- Strength. At correct processing cardboard, furniture made from it will last a very long time.
Despite a large number of advantages, cardboard furniture has one extremely unpleasant feature - when it is in humid environment furniture deteriorates and becomes unusable.
Take this fact into account and always remove cardboard furniture from the street, otherwise sudden rain may render it unusable.
Tools and materials for manufacturing
What is needed to make cardboard furniture with your own hands? The constant materials will be:
- Packaging cardboard/cardboard boxes – you can ask for boxes in the store or look for purchased equipment at home;
- Regular and colored tape, paper tape, double-sided tape;
- A stationery knife for cutting cardboard (watch the sharpness of the blades and change them as they become dull);
- Sharp scissors;
- Dull knife;
- Roulette/iron ruler;
- Pencil and eraser;
- Glue (PVA, hot melt glue, wallpaper glue, liquid “moment” - depending on the situation, but sometimes you can only get by with tape);
- Sandpaper (you will use it to sand the cardboard sections);
- Kraft paper (white and dark) and tracing paper.
Types of cardboard
To make cardboard furniture with your own hands, you will need different cardboard, depending on the situation.
Cardboard can be one-, two-, or three-layer, depending on the number of layers, which, in turn, consist of small waves that can be seen on the cut of the cardboard. The more layers of cardboard with waves, the thicker the cardboard. Also, do not forget to determine the sides of the cardboard before starting work:
- smooth (sometimes with drawings) side - front,
- rough - purl.
To strengthen the edges of cardboard furniture, use dark-colored kraft paper, gluing all the seams with it, using wallpaper glue. Stick white paper (or tracing paper) on all furniture - it makes decorating the furniture easier.
Remember: craft paper and tracing paper must be torn by hand before gluing, not cut!
How to make cardboard furniture more durable
Depending on the purpose of the item (whether it be a chest for children's toys or a TV stand), cardboard is strengthened in different ways. For a more reliable and durable fastening, you must remember the following:
- To strengthen the cardboard and protect it from moisture, use parquet varnish, applying it to already finished and decorated parts of furniture;
- Try to make furniture symmetrical - it is more stable than irregularly shaped furniture;
- If you make asymmetrical furniture, then add more supports to it for strength;
- The more your furniture transverse parts, the more stable it is;
- To give more strength to your structure, use a trick - make two layers of cardboard on all furniture elements. But, pay attention, the layers must be different: one layer must have horizontal waves, the other must have vertical ones;
- Light cardboard is less durable than dark cardboard;
- The thicker the cardboard, the stronger it is.
How to use cardboard furniture
How to properly use hand-made cardboard furniture
In order for your cardboard new thing to serve faithfully for a long time, do not forget that:
- Cardboard furniture is afraid of moisture (varnish will not save you from rain);
- Use it for its intended purpose: if you have made a table for letters/keys/changes, do not place a bulky flower pot on it;
- Make sure that there is no open fire near cardboard furniture (be it a fireplace, a fire, or even a cigarette) - you may lose not only a piece of furniture if you allow a fire hazard.
How to make furniture from cardboard with your own hands if only a box comes to mind? ? We are in a hurry to surprise you - you can make a lot of amazing things from cardboard that harmoniously fit into the interior, from the nursery to the hallway, and if you are completely overwhelmed by inspiration, then there are many ideas for the office and country house.
Below you will see how to make cardboard furniture with your own hands using patterns and diagrams. For the first time, choose something that is not too complicated to get comfortable with the manufacturing technique.
Important! When designing furniture, remember that 0.6 cm will take up furniture decoration, and always add these centimeters when measuring dimensions.
Master class No. 1: Cardboard shoe stand
We decided to simplify your task - we put the first master class that anyone can assemble. So, armed with all the necessary items, let's get started.
Step 1
- Take sheets of cardboard - approximately 21x24cm - and divide them into three equal strips; by using dull knife Press the strips well so that they bend.
- Cover the long sides of the sheet with any colored tape.
- Then fold the sheets into triangular oblong shapes and secure with the same tape.
Step 2
You can make any number of triangles. To secure the shelves, take whole sheets of cardboard and glue triangles to them double-sided tape or PVA. You can put a sheet of cardboard on the very top and put high boots on it.
Master class No. 2: Cardboard bookshelf
Step 1
Take long, not wide sheets of cardboard - some of the sheets will be used vertical bases, so they should be a little longer, in general, the size of the sheets can be any at your discretion. You can look for such sheets in hardware stores - sometimes they throw them away with just such cuts.
If you can’t find it, take solid (without bends!) sheets and measure for the cutting line so that on all sheets they coincide when threaded into each other.
Step 2
If you take thick cardboard sheets, then when you connect them together they will hold tightly and without additional funds. Thin sheets can be secured together with hot glue; it will dry quickly, so you will have to act quickly when joining the sheets. After joining the sheets, you can already use the shelf.
Master class No. 3: Hanging shoe rack
- Grab a pair large sheets cardboard and mark them into identical rectangles, based on the size of your shoes. Then cut them out.
- Fold each rectangle as shown in the photo, and secure the resulting pockets with tape.
- Insert the pockets into each other so that it is easy to secure them with double-sided tape, but still leaves room for shoes.
- You can fix the shelf on the door - it will not interfere with you at all and take up a lot of space.
Master class No. 4: DIY laptop stand
Almost each of us has an indispensable tool for work and communication - a laptop. And we have to buy all sorts of peripheral devices for it (mouse, flash drives, removable hard drives, etc.). And so, when there is a desire to put it on a stand for ease of use, we are forced to go to the store and spend extra money. For those who want to avoid unnecessary expenses, but doesn’t want to give up the stand, there is a great way out - to make it yourself. And how to do this - you will read in this article.
Materials and tools:
- Laptop to measure stand size;
- yardstick;
- several sheets of paper or newspaper for a stencil;
- thick cardboard for the stand itself (you can use an unnecessary box);
- long ruler;
- marker or pencil;
- large scissors or a utility knife.
You already understand that we don’t need any special materials - everything listed is probably available in any home. Let's start manufacturing.
Step 1.
Take paper or newspaper and spread it on a flat surface. It is better to carry out all actions related to measuring the size of the stand and making a stencil according to the “measure seven times, cut once” principle, because at best the stand will be crooked, and at worst it will not hold the laptop.
- First we will make a leg (this is a crossbar between the legs to give the stand more rigidity). We take a tape measure and measure the length of the laptop along the keyboard, from corner to corner.
- Mark exactly half of this length with a marker on paper.
- We draw a line - this will be half of the base of the pole. It's better not to draw this detail entirely. Make a slight inaccuracy and the laptop will stand crooked.
- We measure up from the edges of the segment 4 cm and 7 cm. Draw a rectangle.
- Mentally divide the rectangle into 3 parts: the first third is an almost straight line at a height of 4 cm, the second third is with a pattern or hand making a bend at an angle of 45 degrees to the 7 cm line, the last third is from the right end of the segment we draw a line to the 7 cm line at an angle 45 degrees.
- All this is simply and clearly shown in the photo (detail 1). At the point where the two curved lines meet, a narrow sleeve is made - at this place there will be a cutout for aligning the parts.
Step 2.
The same photo shows a template for the legs of the stand (detail 2).
You select the angle of the stand based on your personal preferences. This will add up to the height of the right and left sides of the leg. When drawing the template for the leg, pay attention to the tooth that will subsequently keep the laptop from falling.
In height, it should be at least a third of the thickness of the laptop. The slot in the leg for coupling with the leg should not be in the middle, but at a distance of approximately 1/3 from the far edge. This also affects the stability of the structure. Curves are at your discretion.
The slots in the legs and leg can be no more than 3-4 cm in height. They can be 3-5 mm in width depending on the thickness of the cardboard, but in both parts they can be the same.
Step 3.
Cut out paper templates. We attach the template of 1 part with the bottom cut to the even edge of the box chosen as the future stand. It is desirable that the stable parts of the stand are perfectly level (the stand will not wobble on the table).
- Carefully trace the template on one side, then flip it over to the other side and continue tracing. We get one continuous symmetrical part (leg). Apply parts only to smooth parts of the box (pieces of cardboard) where there are no folds.
- On another cardboard (for example, the bottom of a box) we place the paper template of part 2, i.e. leg. We circle and repeat the same a second time. The legs must be absolutely identical.
Step 4.
We cut out all the details with scissors or a stationery knife. We move them along the slots, as shown in the photo.
If everything is combined correctly, then you can be glad that a simple (like all ingenious), functional, strong stand for your digital friend is ready! Install a laptop on it and attach additional keyboards to it, watch movies at a comfortable height, sweep cookie crumbs under the stand - you are now the happy owner of a homemade laptop stand!
Cardboard table diagram
We also offer a simple photo master cardboard desktop class
Today I’ll take the risk of reviewing a master class from a French site. Unfortunately, the original did not have a verbal accompaniment, so everything was done using my own guesses and knowledge on this issue lying around in my head.So, what will we have ready in the end? This. Enough stylish table, made to look like wood and leather. and not just a table, but a folding table.
1. So, the first photo. We cut out the basic shape for our... um, maybe we should call them legs. Basically, we cut out the shape for the table legs. The photo shows one thick layer, but this is not gluing or thick cardboard, as it might seem at first glance. It's just that the author apparently cut out all 6 supports (3 for one side and 3 for the other) at one time. This is very reasonable, since with this approach the top will be more symmetrical and, hopefully (), will not wobble.
2. Now we assemble each support. We start from the middle, from the middle bar. When making cuts for the grooves, it is best to do them simultaneously on the middle strip for the second support. This should look like this:
3. Now we fill the grooves with mating parts. The width of all inserts must be equal, and the height must correspond to the height of each specific element, to which they are attached (well, I think this is quite clear from the photo).
I want to say that the exact dimensions of the table are unknown, I don’t think it’s big, most likely it’s something like a coffee table, but the same design can be extrapolated to a more serious object, for example, to make a table for the living room. Why not? So you will have to set the width and height of all parts yourself in accordance with the general scale.To strengthen the joints, we use quick-drying glue - moment or, even better, we use a glue gun for this.
4. To the main central part of each support on the sides using the same glue gun glue the side parts of the sheets. As you can see, the table part is already quite stable)). It is not yet visible in this photo (it will be noticeable in the next ones) that when gluing the side support into one whole, the author strengthened the joints by additionally gluing the edges of the “grid” in pieces, so it turned out that constituent elements the side supports seem to consist of a double sheet.
We remember that there should be two of these things.
5. Only on last photo We still have the outer sides uncovered. On next photo they are already neatly covered with cardboard plates. The author omitted this procedure in his photo MK, but there is nothing particularly complicated here. We cut out a rectangle from cardboard along the width of the side support, bend it slightly, winding it, for example, on a stick to give it a curved shape, and use a glue gun to attach it to the side parts of the supports. You can try gluing it all in one layer, bending it accordingly. But the author, and this is really more convenient, cut the rectangle into two parts and glued them end-to-end separately. In this photo we already have two supports with sides and the bottom of the table is glued here: lower parts the supports are glued to a thick layer (you can pre-glue two sheets together).
6. Now, based on the glued bottom, we make the following resolution:
Inserts into the grooves in the central part are not needed yet, just cut them out, try them on and put them aside. and cover the grid to the right and left of the central part again with layers of cardboard glued with a glue gun.
7. It’s not visible in the next photo, but there should again be a grid (stiffening ribs) on top of the first layer. they must be very carefully adjusted so that they are almost at the same level with the upper edge of the oval cutout in the side supports, so that the layer placed on top lies tightly on the stiffeners themselves and is glued to this very top edge of the oval cutout. In general, look at the photo:
Yes, and don’t forget about the grooves in the central part. Now you can fill them out.
At the same time as all this, we also finished the inner sides of the table supports. As you can see, I’ll lower it and everything is already covered from the inside.
8. Now the drawers. How to make them, I think, can be seen quite clearly in the photo. It's all about the accuracy of the measurements. The only reminder is that we make the front “lid-wall” from two layers (although it would be possible to strengthen the entire box in a similar way..)
But such partitions not only organize the space inside the box, but also strengthen it.
9. The next stage. Now let's go back to the top. On the surface of the sheets on both sides of the central part we again glue the stiffening ribs, measuring so that they are flush with the common surface of the side supports. At the same time, we cover the side “insides” of the table with sheets.
10. Now what is our tabletop? We also remember that our table is folding.
The tabletop consists of a lower thick sheet (two sheets can be glued together), the perimeter of which is equal to the perimeter of the surface of the table. the top cover sheet is the same. The two sides are sealed tightly with narrow strips. In the end the table looks like this:
But the internal structure is like this:
These elements are taken out from the sides of the table and folded, forming a small addition:
11. Decoration. To be honest, I didn’t really understand what exactly the author did. If anyone thinks of it, write.
I am inclined to believe that the leveling was done with ordinary kraft paper, then the top was painted with paint in several layers and sanded to get rid of the joints (yes, all joints should not be covered with paper tape). The outer lids of the drawers and the table top are finished with leather-like material. This can be found in handicraft stores for book binding) and in the construction and wallpaper departments there should be something similar. There's probably dark varnish on top.
Quite a stylish table, made to look like wood and leather, and not just a table, but a folding table.

Cardboard chair
I don’t know if this idea will be useful to any of the readers. I'm not at all sure that anyone will want to put it into practice, but still. It may well lead readers to other interesting solutions. Anyway, I like how it turned out. Let's assume that I want to brag)
It so happened that upholstered furniture from the group kindergarten, which my Polina goes to, was sent to another, new group. Our children simply had nothing to sit on. My friend Tanya, who worries about our kindergarten with all her heart and tries to help in every possible way, told me, “Lena, I read on the Internet how to make a chair out of cardboard. And I did it. Will you make a cover for it?” Well, a case is a case.
It was clear that this was such a temporary measure - let at least one chair be in the group until something was decided with upholstered furniture. Tanya's stool seemed unstable to me. How can I put it... he “played” like an accordion. It seemed to me that he would not stand for more than a week. Somehow it became a pity to waste a large piece of fabric on it. But Tanya spent 2 days cutting and gluing! I decided to make the chair stronger and then upholster it.
I didn’t photograph the entire work process in detail (there’s never time for that)), but here are the main stages. I wanted to make exactly the chair. Stable and strong. I imagined how several kids would jump along it at once (and I was right))). So, first, such a “sandwich” was made in the shape of a semicircle: chipboard - between them there are bars - chipboard. The result is a base about 10 cm thick. This is so that the walls can be secured. For the same purpose vertical racks. Front wall – plywood; the back is hardboard (it bends so well))). I first drew the curve of the back by eye on the remains of the wallpaper; the back is slightly higher at the back. Base on 4 legs made from old Pauline wooden cubes.
Polina fell in love with the chair already at this stage)) Here you can see that I started gluing cardboard, filling the interior space of the chair. This is the same corrugated cardboard from the boxes that Tanya's chair was made from. Not all layers are solid, most are just glued pieces, there are gaps here and there between them, this does not matter. First I glued it on PVA. But she soon abandoned it, because... The cardboard swells like a wet wafer and becomes deformed, so I had to put a weight on top and wait for it to dry... It was long and inconvenient, so after several layers I switched to wood glue. Great item in every way.
The photo shows how the walls turned out. As I worked and at the end, I leveled them with a knife. Everything is so easy to cut)) Next is foam rubber + Moment Gel glue.
And a case. (This was the best part)) Done.
from Marrietta
The chair turned out to be very heavy. But I consider this a plus - at least it won’t roll over)) And of course the fabric... These are just some leftovers that were found at home. The fabric on the armrests, even though it is glued with non-woven fabric, cannot count on a long life. But we wanted temporary furniture that we wouldn’t mind throwing away.
More than six months have passed, the kids have torn the fabric on the armrests. I'm thinking of fixing the upholstery because... Everyone became attached to the chair, but in itself it is simply indestructible. But redoing the upholstery is a completely different story.
I also offer a few photo ideas from the Internet.
This article is for those who cannot fight the creative impulses bursting through them. Yes, what kind of furniture is there to order, here are your hands, there are boxes, there are drawers, go ahead! Express yourself!
Cardboard furniture- a new trend in the recycling movement, that is, in turning unnecessary things into necessary ones. Craftsmen from all over the world make ordinary cardboard boxes full-fledged furniture, and today we will see which one.
I am sure that the question has repeatedly occurred to you about how you can use cardboard boxes, especially for equipment such as refrigerators and televisions. They are so new, beautiful, durable. It's a shame to throw it away! A little, just a little work - and you will get excellent cardboard furniture.
____________
Furniture made of cardboard looks exactly like ordinary furniture - for example, in the photo on the right you see a rack made of ordinary cardboard boxes, inserted one into the other, pasted at the ends with paper tape and painted with waterproof paint in White color. This rack cost the owners the cost of a liter can of paint, but it looks very decent. As you can see, if you paint the cardboard well, the furniture becomes completely water-repellent and you can place as many vases with flowers as you like.
Please note in the photo above and the photo on the left that this cardboard furniture is easy to disassemble - the boxes are not glued, but connected with plastic clips, like those used in street cafes, so that the wind does not blow the tablecloths off the tables.
You probably have doubts that cardboard furniture is strong enough. I had them too. But I was convinced that if you take two equipment boxes (one slightly smaller than the other) made of thick corrugated cardboard and insert one box into the other, the resulting “double” box turns out to be a completely rigid structure.
Furniture made of cardboard is not intended for heavy loads, but it is quite possible to put books or accessories into it, as in the photo on the right. As you can see in the photo, cardboard does not bend under the weight of books, and cardboard furniture looks like a full-fledged store-bought shelf.
Of course, you need to make furniture out of cardboard carefully - carefully cut off the “closures” of the boxes, insert one box into another, if necessary, if the smaller box is too small and there is empty space between its walls and the walls of the larger box, fill this space with other sheets of cardboard . Trim the boxes so that their cut (the ends of the “shelves”) is even. Glue this cut with paper tape (you can putty it first so that it has a flat surface). Sand the area where the tape and cardboard meet. And paint it carefully.
However, you don’t have to paint cardboard furniture, but cover it with leftover wallpaper:
Cardboard furniture can be upholstered inside beautiful fabric, as in the photo on the left, and then attach all sorts of accessories to this fabric with pins - photos, notes, reminders, etc. In the photo on the left, however, it’s not furniture made of cardboard, but furniture made of wine boxes, but the essence is the same.
To upholster cardboard furniture with fabric, use regular push pins, pressing the fabric well with them.
By collecting many cardboard boxes together and painting them different colors, you will receive excellent furniture for the nursery. Such cardboard furniture can really help you out during the period between moving and final renovation.
Such an improvised rack will include a lot of children's things, and it will cost you about 500 rubles (a can of white paint and several colors).
But it is especially important in cardboard furniture that the baby himself can participate in its production, and this will be very good.
If you are going to make furniture from cardboard not for economic reasons, but for creative reasons, use different paints, fabrics, leftover wallpaper, pieces of self-adhesive film, etc. A colorful combination can be very beautiful if you choose the colors carefully!
Cardboard furniture, as I mentioned above, is an excellent solution for a nursery. Firstly, it is very cheap, so you can relax about its damage. Secondly, it can be made in any way you want, and this stimulates your and your child’s imagination.
It's hard to believe, but the table in the photo on the left is also made of cardboard. Cardboard boxes re-inserted one inside the other. They are glued together and covered self-adhesive film under the tree. I don’t really understand what acts as a tabletop - perhaps a chipboard, or maybe also several layers of cardboard.
Cardboard furniture has become so popular in the West that a company has appeared in Australia that makes it in industrial scale. In the photo on the right is a table made of cardboard, made entirely from recycled materials, that is, cardboard boxes that no one needs. All cardboard furniture is very durable and can be used as regular furniture.
To make it easier to see that the furniture is made of cardboard, the manufacturer does not paint it.

Well, in order not to get up twice, in this article I’ll tell you more about furniture made from boxes that are used retail chains for transportation and storage of products.
In the West, everyone is simply crazy about such furniture, and on sites that tell how to make furniture from cardboard or from boxes, they even write: “If you are lucky enough to find boxes of fruit or wine...” Why lucky - because retailers , as a rule, treat their property very carefully and try to squeeze the maximum possible out of the container; boxes are used until they are completely worn out, so find boxes in good condition not easy.
But sometimes you can receive them as a gift when purchasing wine in large quantities.
And then the Europeans, who got their hands on creativity, are completely delighted and make either the same racks as the cardboard furniture in the photo above, or other interesting things.
It is considered especially chic not to paint the boxes, but to leave them in their original form - with all the scratches, stamps of the former owner and stains. The boxes are only sanded to avoid splinters, but their appearance remains the same.
It comes to the point that famous designers, creating interiors in an ecological style, make custom-made furniture that imitates furniture from boxes, as in the photo above.
It is very fashionable to screw wheels to the box and get a doll crib, as in the photo on the right, a mobile bedside table or a flower box, as in the photo below.
It is clear that such a box on wheels can have many applications - for example, in this way you can make serving table, if you put the boxes on their sides.
Furniture made from boxes can be almost anything - for example, someone made it for their living room and coffee table, and a rack of identical boxes, painting them with white paint.
It’s a bit rude for my taste, but it’s obvious that this is exactly the effect the owner was trying to achieve. In general, such uneven, rough coloring or the complete absence of it, as in the photo above, is now in great fashion.
It's funny, but you can even make furniture from plastic boxes that are used to transport bottles, as in the photo on the right. Attach legs to the bottom and a pillow to the top, and now you have a wonderful funny ottoman. Of course, it will not suit every interior.
You probably noticed in all the photos in this article that furniture made of cardboard and boxes is not universal - it is suitable only for interiors with a high degree of humor, built on the owners’ disregard for everything expensive and glamorous and on their love for everything funny and homemade.
For example, one Spaniard made this bedside table from two plywood boxes, screwing an old shelf to them on top and painting them yourself acrylic paint. Nothing special, but the manufacturing process itself brings pleasure. Plus, it doesn’t cost anything, but it’s still pleasing to the eye.
Excellent wall shelves can be made from plywood or wooden boxes. It's very simple - cut the box, sand it and cover it with varnish or paint to your liking. Pastoral, sweet, funny.
