Master class on painting T-shirts with acrylic paints. Painting on fabric. We create unique things with our own hands

You will need

  • - markers
  • - acrylic paints and outlines
  • - t-shirt
  • - a simple pencil
  • - stencils
  • - batik paint

Instructions

Abstraction. Roll the T-shirt into a knot, roll or rope. Who likes it more? Soak it in paint intended for batik. It can be purchased at stationery or specialty stores for artists. When you straighten the T-shirt, beautiful symmetrical patterns will be visible across its entire surface. The T-shirt can be tied with cord or ribbon, and the patterns will be more interesting.

A drawing made using outlines or markers. Using an outline or marker, you can create a clear design. For this, there are special markers designed for light and dark fabrics.
Acrylic outlines are small tubes of paint that can be used to draw on fabric. The only thing that outlines give way to markers is that you should press evenly on the tube so that the drawing seems neater.
Before applying the design to the T-shirt, stretch it on a flat surface. Select a sketch and transfer the design onto the T-shirt using a pencil. Now you should outline it. If you want to color the drawing, then use acrylic paints.

Stencil. Stencils are perfect for pop art lovers. Sketch it on cardboard. The drawing can be anything - it is entirely your imagination. Remember, the drawing should be solid and not consist of pieces.
Place the resulting stencil on the T-shirt and paint over the entire sheet of paper, then remove it.

Imitation of a suit. A very interesting approach to designing a T-shirt would be a copy of the shirt of a movie or comic book character. For example, on a dark T-shirt, paint the tie, buttons and pockets with white paint.

The design is all over the T-shirt. Enough interesting solution there will be a pattern stretching across the entire T-shirt. It doesn't have to be done on one side. For example, you can draw her paws on the back, and her muzzle in front, her tail can be drawn at the bottom along the edge of the T-shirt.

Any plain T-shirt can become a canvas for your experiments. Armed with one jar of paint, you can paint over a T-shirt completely, create abstract patterns on the fabric, or apply graphic symbols. To make the most ordinary thing unique, use several techniques of painting on fabric.

You will need

  • - t-shirt;
  • - fabric paint;
  • - brush;
  • - threads;
  • - reserve for batik;
  • - cardboard;
  • - scissors.

Instructions

If you want to make a colorful canvas without clear boundaries with smooth color transitions, use a free painting technique. Wet it from a spray bottle T-shirt, apply several shades one by one with wide brush strokes and let them spread over the surface.

To add more definition to your design and limit the spread of color, try the hot or cold batik technique. In the first case, those areas of the fabric that should remain light and unpainted are impregnated with hot wax (using a brush); in the second, fragments of the pattern are outlined with a special reserve that will not allow the paint to pass beyond its boundaries. Apply the design, checking the sketch and moving from lighter to darker shades.

A painting made using one of the above methods can be supplemented with a volumetric contour - it performs only a decorative function and does not replace the reserve.

There are fabric pigments that dissolve in large quantities water and were originally intended to uniformly color the entire thing. To achieve a more unexpected and interesting effect, make several “pintucks”, tie them with threads, put the T-shirt in a bathtub or basin and fill it with diluted paint (according to the instructions). Without waiting until the fabric is wet through, place it on a dry clean surface and let dry (you can dry it with a hairdryer). After this, untie the knots. In these places, the paint also forms voids, which result in an unusual pattern.

Helpful advice

Natural fabrics hold paint better, but recently many compounds have been produced that are also suitable for synthetics - look for information about this on the packaging. It should also say about the method of fixing the paint. As a rule, it is fixed by ironing the pattern from the wrong side.

  • how to paint a T-shirt

Each of us strives to be bright and individual, different from others both in manifestations of character and in such a seemingly completely ordinary component of life as clothing. Interesting creative ideas have long been revered in society, no one will be surprised by store-bought clothes, but if you appear among friends in a non-standard T-shirt with an equally original design, most likely more than one person will assail you with questions about how to color them yourself T-shirt.

You will need

  • - t-shirt;
  • - cardboard;
  • - acrylic paints;
  • - brush;
  • - felt-tip pens for fabric;
  • - fabric spray;
  • - a stencil with a drawing blank.

Instructions

Wash the prepared T-shirt. This applies to both previously worn and recently purchased items. During production, special impregnations are often used, which will subsequently prevent you from applying the paint evenly and will not allow it to dry without streaks. After the T-shirt has been washed and dried, iron it for ease. further work. If you chose color T-shirt, then check the effect of paint on the fabric in advance - it may turn out that the accompanying chemical reaction will color T-shirt not at all the color you planned.

Place cardboard between two layers: back and front. This is necessary so that the paint does not leak to the other side and spoil the future masterpiece. Wrap the top of the cardboard with foil. Your T-shirt should be stretched over the cardboard - only then will comfort for work be ensured, and the drawing will lie on T-shirt smooth.

Prepare a table for work. Cover it with newspaper or an unnecessary tablecloth. For convenience, you can attach T-shirt with cardboard and tape to the table.

Start drawing on a T-shirt. If you are not an artist, but have a more or less good command of these skills, apply the drawing yourself by special means: acrylic paints, fabric sprays or. You can purchase all this in specialized stores or art salons. If you are not confident in your artistic skills, use a prepared stencil for these purposes. If desired, apply the design with a moistened sponge, handprint or objects. Your imagination can be limitless. Remember that it is very convenient to use felt-tip pens for fabric to outline all drawn elements - the contours of the drawing will become clear, bright and not blurry.

Leave it painted T-shirt for 24 hours (the design on the fabric should dry well) and only then remove the cardboard. If you want to have a pattern on the back, repeat all steps, turning it over T-shirt to the other side.

If your creative streak does not allow you to wear consumer goods and you want to decorate a T-shirt with a print of your own, you don’t have to rush to visit a photo salon. It is much more interesting to paint a T-shirt with acrylic paints yourself.

Instructions

Acrylic is the best option for such work. It penetrates well into fabric, retains its properties for a long time, has a huge color palette, and in addition, many effects. There is acrylic that glows in the dark, pearlescent paints and paints with a matte effect; by using some other materials, you can achieve an interesting effect of cracking the top layer of paint while keeping the lower, contrasting one intact. When buying acrylic, you need to pay attention to what fabric it is intended for and choose the appropriate composition for the T-shirt. You will need several brushes depending on the complexity of the design. It is best to take brushes with synthetic bristles - they shed less and the paint is also easier to wash off.

Once you have chosen your paints, brushes, design and T-shirt, you can begin the painting process. It is better to lay a layer of cardboard or newspaper between the front and back of the T-shirt; it is much easier to secure the fabric on cardboard. It is not necessary to secure the fabric, but it is advisable, since during the drawing process it will otherwise begin to fidget and the drawing may be displaced. It is most convenient to transfer the drawing with a soft with a simple pencil, and then color it.

If during the coloring process a drop falls in the wrong place, do not be upset. It is now almost impossible to remove this stain without affecting the main design, but you can always show your imagination and paint the damaged area so that a random drop appears to be an element of the design.

Often acrylic paints are too thick, which makes working with them difficult. You can even dilute acrylic with water if there is no other option. But this will reduce the quality of the paint and subsequently it will wash off from the T-shirt faster. It is best to use a thinner for acrylic paints; it is important that it is from the same company as the paints. The layer of paint on the fabric should be uniform and not thick, otherwise it may not stick. It's always better to do 2-3 thin layers than one thick one, that's what thinner is for. How better paint saturates the fabric, the better and more durable the pattern will be. When mixing paints, it is important to do it as quickly as possible, this way the colors will be brighter.

Abstraction in the spirit of pseudo-batik. Twist the T-shirt into a knot, roll it up, or turn it inside out as if you were wringing it out after washing, and soak it that way. different colors batik paints. When you unfold it, there will be symmetrical color patterns all over its surface.

You can wrap the T-shirt with salt, ribbon or cord - this will add even more variety to the patterns.

2. Drawing: outline and markers

A clear drawing can be applied either with paints using an acrylic outline, or with markers. There are markers for dark fabrics, but, as a rule, few of them provide a bright and easily visible color; If your T-shirt is light in color, you can choose both markers and paints; if it’s dark, it’s better to stick with paints.

Acrylic contours are sold in small convenient tubes; they can be used to draw even when the fabric is stretched vertically. The line turns out to be very thin, although less neat than when drawing with a marker - because you need to press the tube with equal force all the time.

Prepare a sketch of the future drawing. Then stretch the T-shirt onto a flat surface, such as an ironing board, with a piece of paper underneath the front. Transfer the drawing from the sketch to the T-shirt with a simple pencil or tailor's chalk (if the fabric is dark). Then carefully outline it and then paint it with regular acrylic if you like.

When painting large surfaces with acrylic, they harden somewhat, as when gluing film to fabric.

3. Stencil

If you like pop art style, laconic images and strict lines, the stencil will become good choice. Sketch a design for a T-shirt on thin cardboard. Choose the theme and everything else according to your taste - it can be anything, from an inscription to a human silhouette, but remember that this drawing will need to be cut out, and, in fact, it is the cut out part that will be the “mold” for the paint that will be printed on the T-shirt. The drawing must be solid, without jumpers.

Using a stationery knife, cut out the finished design, place it on a T-shirt and paint the entire sheet with paint (one or more), then remove it - the paint will only fall on the empty space of the stencil.

You can also make a reverse stencil - then put on the T-shirt not a sheet with a hole, but a cut-out part, the design itself, and paint over it so that the paint extends 2-3 cm beyond the borders of the cardboard. You'll end up with a splash of paint with a clear silhouette that's the same color as the rest of the t-shirt.

4. Imitation suit

Paint the T-shirt using paints or felt-tip pens, making it a copy of a suit with a shirt, for example, like comic book or movie characters. For example, you can apply a thin stripe to a dark gray T-shirt, draw lapels and a pseudo-pocket rectangle on the left, a buttonhole with a red flower drawn on it, and you will have a classic gangster suit from the 1920s.

5. Drawing all over the T-shirt

It is not necessary to place the design strictly on the front side of the T-shirt. An image that stretches across the entire fabric looks much nicer. This can be used in a “three-dimensional” image: for example, if you draw a fox on a T-shirt, its hind legs and part of its body can be located on the back, its front legs will seem to “lean” on the shoulder, and the front legs will be drawn on the front side of the T-shirt, the fluffy tail will wrap around the entire bottom edge.

The animal - of course, not necessarily a fox - can be stylized with Celtic or Polynesian patterns, which will allow you to make a few more “overlaps” of the design from the front of the T-shirt, wrap it around the collar and use the sleeves.

Regular gouache will be an excellent replacement for expensive fabric dyes. The main thing is to apply it correctly so that it does not wash off during the first wash. To paint a T-shirt you will need the following tools and materials:

  • set of multi-colored gouache;
  • PVA glue;
  • sticks for mixing paints;
  • flat brush;
  • palette;
  • cloth

How to dye a T-shirt with all these things? Very simple! To begin, mix glue and paint in 1:1 proportions. Depending on the thickness of the glue paint, you can use a little more or a little less. If you need to get a color that is not in the kit, mix the paints first and only then add glue.

Next, use a brush to apply the resulting mixture onto the T-shirt. Do not forget to thoroughly wipe your brush after each element so that the drawing does not turn out “dirty”. You can rub the paint into the fabric, and then the pattern will turn out flat, or you can apply the paint in a thick layer to get a three-dimensional pattern.

If you don't like something, just wash the T-shirt, everything will be washed off. If you are satisfied with the result of the work, cover the drawing with varnish.

How to paint a T-shirt with wax crayons

Wax pencils are another way to transform old T-shirt. To create the outfit, prepare:

  • a set of colored wax pencils;
  • fine grater;
  • several sheets of paper;
  • iron.

Place the T-shirt on a hard surface, such as an ironing board. Place sheets of paper inside it so that the paint does not bleed onto reverse side. Grate the wax crayons on a fine grater to make shavings. Place the shavings on the T-shirt where you want interesting prints. Place a layer of paper on top.

Start ironing the T-shirt with a hot iron. As soon as the paper begins to peel away from the fabric, the ironing procedure can be completed, as the product is ready.

Now you know how to dye a T-shirt at home. Both methods described open up enormous scope for imagination. They allow you to experiment with colors, patterns and designs.

Many people have an old but favorite T-shirt in their closet at home that they hate to throw away. There are many ways to use old things - use them for rags or sew a toy, etc. But what if you want to wear a T-shirt, but there is a stain on it or it has lost color? Just paint! Anyone who has encountered such a problem has wondered how to dye a T-shirt in home conditions? In order to begin the painting procedure, you need to find out about painting methods and other details. This is what we will do in this article.

Dyeing an old T-shirt

Dyeing a T-shirt is not a labor-intensive process, especially if you have everything on hand necessary tools and materials. To get started, you will need:

  • White cotton T-shirt.
  • Dye.
  • Water.
  • Rubber.
  • A bowl.

Almost all T-shirts and tank tops are made from cotton fabric, so the dye adheres to them well. Paint can be purchased at any store or market.

Important! If you do not trust chemical coloring compounds, you can use natural dyes (berries, onion peels, iodine, brilliant green).

A simple way to paint

We paint with natural substances:

  1. Bring a natural dye (for example, chamomile) to a boil and strain through cheesecloth.
  2. The T-shirt needs to be twisted into a tight rope and assembled in such a way as to form a ball.
  3. Then we fix the product with rubber bands and place it in a container with dye, leaving it for at least an hour.
  4. The item should dry indoors on a clean cloth.

Important! You can secure the T-shirt with elastic bands in any way you like - the more difficult you secure the elastic band, the more interesting the pattern will be.

Dyeing a T-shirt at home

In order to paint a T-shirt at home, you should carry out several manipulations:

  1. Place the T-shirt in a bowl or other container.
  2. Use a syringe to apply dye to one side and then to the other.
  3. Rinse the item several times in clean water.
  4. Dry the painted product.
  5. Iron the item to secure the pattern.

Important! To make the design brighter and more colorful, spread the dye over the surface of the T-shirt with a brush.

Paint a T-shirt with acrylic dye

Acrylic paints are considered one of the best options dyes for clothes. They penetrate perfectly into fabric fibers and have a wide range of shades. In addition, now in the markets you can find pearlescent colors and shades that glow in the dark.

To paint a T-shirt with acrylic dye, you will need:

  • Acrylic dye of the desired shade.
  • Synthetic brushes.
  • Sheets of cardboard.
  • A simple pencil.

Let's start dyeing the T-shirt:

  1. Place a sheet of thick cardboard inside the T-shirt. This is necessary for high-quality drawing.
  2. Using the template, draw the outlines of the design on the front side of the T-shirt with a simple pencil.
  3. Dilute the acrylic dye with water, as its consistency is too thick.
  4. Start coloring the drawing with dye using brushes.
  5. Leave the item to dry completely.
  6. Iron the T-shirt through cheesecloth to secure the design.

Don't worry if you drip paint outside the outline of the design. Show your imagination and make an interesting pattern out of colorful spots.

Important! After applying acrylic paint, the item cannot be washed for two days.

Making a T-shirt using the Tie-Dye technique

The Tie-Dai technique has gained popularity since ancient times in China and India. It represents bright extraordinary patterns on things. Today it is used by many global clothing brands.

In order to dye clothes using this technique, you will need following materials and tools:

  • White shirt.
  • Plastic containers.
  • Water.
  • Dye.
  • Strong threads.
  • Salt.

After you have purchased everything necessary materials, start creating:

  1. Twist the T-shirt into a spiral and wrap it around its axis several times.
  2. Secure it with threads.
  3. IN plastic container pour warm water.
  4. Dilute the dye and a tablespoon of salt with warm water.
  5. Apply paint to the T-shirt using a brush.
  6. Leave the item for a day to dry thoroughly.

Important! The T-shirt should be dried in a dry place away from moisture, as the pattern may not stick.

Dyeing a T-shirt black

One of the most simple methods dyeing old T-shirts - painting in a uniform (black) shade. To freshen up an old black T-shirt, you will need:

  • Enameled bowl.
  • Black paint.

Let's start painting:

  1. Place the paint packet in a small saucepan and add a little water.
  2. Stir until a paste forms.
  3. Pour 500 ml of cold water into the resulting paste.
  4. Mix everything and strain through a fine cloth.
  5. Pour the entire solution into a bowl, add water (temperature at least 50 degrees).
  6. Place the jersey in a bowl and place over low heat.
  7. After boiling, add one tablespoon of salt.
  8. When the water with the dye boils for the second time, remove the container from the heat and place it in a dark place.
  9. Rinse the T-shirt several times with hot and then cool water.
  10. Dry the product and iron thoroughly.

Important! The product must be kept in water with dye for at least 30 minutes.

Making a multi-colored T-shirt

In order to dye a T-shirt in different colors, you will need:

  • Dye.
  • Rubber bands.
  • Deep capacity.
  • Salt.
  • Protective gloves.
  • Clothespins.

First you will need to wet the T-shirt, and then twist it around its axis - into a ball. Place the item in the prepared dye solution. Leave the shirt on for about an hour. After an hour, rinse the clothes in cold water until the water becomes clear.

Necessary materials:
White or light cotton T-shirt;
Phantom marker or soft pencil;
Non-bleeding paints on fabric, for example, from Javana;
Jaquard applicator with metal nozzle or fabric contour;
Synthetic or kolinsky brushes 1, 3, 6;
Cotton swabs, a jar of clean water, palette.

Fabric paints come in different colors: flowing, non-flowing, pearlescent, embossed, etc. To paint the T-shirt, I used non-bleeding paints on the fabric, a set of six colors from Javana “Sunny”. One such set is enough to paint more than one T-shirt, bag, sneakers, jeans:

To begin, select a drawing. For me this is a character from the cartoon “My Neighbor Totoro”, you can come up with a drawing yourself or find a suitable one on the Internet. We apply the design to the fabric with a phantom marker. Phantom marker is a special marker for applying a preliminary design to fabric and other materials. Disappears without a trace upon contact with water. After applying the outline, it does not need to be removed, it does not show through from the back of the painting, it simply disappears during the work process, when applying paints. If you don't have a phantom marker, you can use a soft pencil, but it will be harder to remove. finished work. The printed picture can be placed under the fabric and circled. It’s better to work on a surface that you don’t mind getting dirty with paint or that can be easily cleaned. The T-shirt should be made from natural fabrics - the paint manufacturer claims that the painting will be more durable on natural fabrics, whereas the paint on synthetics can wash off during washing. To prevent the design from appearing on the back of the T-shirt, a sheet of thick cardboard must be placed between two layers of fabric.

To apply a contour to your work, you can use a ready-made fabric contour, or you can pour a little paint into an applicator with a metal nozzle and use thick, non-bleeding paints as a contour. You can apply the contour with a thin brush - depending on what you can achieve more accurately. It is advisable not to move the cardboard inside the T-shirt so that the paint does not smear.

Make sure that the paint saturates the fabric, so the painting will be more durable.

When you have applied the contour wherever you think it is necessary, you need to dry it well.

Now you can take up colored paints. We paint some areas with a brush, like a children's coloring book. To make the image more picturesque and create a background, you can dilute the paints with water on the palette so that they go from thick to spreading over the fabric. Just put a drop on the fabric and it will spread:

If by chance you drop a drop on the fabric in a different place than you intended, don’t be upset. It's easy to turn a miss into a plus. Draw a small picture at this place. Small fragments of the design in unusual places look funny and attract attention. Again, to ensure that the design does not show through on the back side, we place thick cardboard:

After the paints have dried, you need to properly iron the fabric with an iron in the “cotton” mode. The paints are fixed in this way. After ironing, the paints will be resistant to water. I wash children's T-shirts with paintings along with other things in washing machine, the paint adheres perfectly to the fabric.
