This herb has many names that emphasize its main feature - intoxicating and relaxing properties. Crazy grass, common datura, durupyan, dope-grass, stinking datura - all these names are given to a plant that has long been used in witchcraft and shamanic practice.
Historians claim that it was used by the ancient Greek Pythia and Aztec priests, and medieval witches used its oil for magical rituals and maintaining beauty. According to unconfirmed reports, duropyan is an obligatory component in voodoo practices and plays a large role in the zombification ritual.
The plant is found everywhere in the temperate and steppe zones; its individual varieties grow in the mountains and tropics. In warm climates it can grow up to a meter or more.
